M1 is new, sure, but not sure what you mean by “lot of unsupported cpu”, but they’re literally making the hardware their software runs on. So
As for the apps, I don’t use Virtualbox but Parallels has been great for me on my M1 MBP. I’ve been using various HomeBrew apps, too, and have had no issues. In fact, I’ve got a ton of apps installed, mostly native apps, but even the apps running via Rosetta have been great. I mean, if you need Windows via BootCamp, sure.. go with Intel.
Well, yes. If you needed to run Win7 you should have bought the Intel version of your device, not the M2 version. Maybe you can return it and get one. I’m running many various VM’s on my M1 MBP running all the way back to Win2000, including WinXP, Win7, and Win10. But, yeah. Sounds like you might be better off just getting an Intel Mac instead.Parallers don't work, because cpu is M1, intel required! i have win7ultimate retail cd. and it not work.
Can't do that. 14 days is over. Now I can wait when mac DAWs evolve as far as Cakewalk Sonar x3 Producer is / was.Maybe you can return it and get one.
How?. . . . I’m running many various VM’s on my M1 MBP running all the way back to Win2000, including WinXP, Win7, and Win10. . . .
I’m using an app called UTMHow?
Win10 I can understand - there is an ARM release
How are you running WinXP for example?
Thanks. it works But it as time related problems, error 80072f8f.I’m using an app called UTM
The .iso I have for WinXP is pretty recent, relatively speaking, so maybe I just haven’t come across this. Does Windows Update even work at all anymore for anything Win7 or earlier? Thanks. it works But it as time related problems, error 80072f8f.
Thanks for the eye opener. I have been too focussed on the big guys aka Parallels and VMware.I’m using an app called UTM
Maybe I'll just try a different brand. Perhaps it's singular to this unit too, don't know.unitek y-3090 and no one problem.
Someone warned me, the hub's chipset is important. Not all hubs work properly.Maybe I'll just try a different brand. Perhaps it's singular to this unit too, don't know.
That’s interesting. I’ll have to see if I can track that down.Someone warned me, the hub's chipset is important. Not all hubs work properly.
No real issues yet! Coming from PC, I was excited to learn about something called Parallels, to use to run a few games. However, I'm having very mediocre performance. Anyone have luck installing Steam via Crossover instead? I kept getting stuck on one step during the process. So I’m curious to see what issues will be popping up with M1 Macs once more users start using them. Please post it here!
Here is what I just stumbled upon:
Forgett all x86, ia64, amd64 soft. These don't work on apple m1 based hardware. They can run only on intel based mac.No real issues yet! On the M1, Rosetta 2 runs x86-64 based Mac software. Parallels can run Windows 11 Arm version which has a x86-32/64 to Aarch64 translator so it can run x86 windows software. So no, not only in UTM.Forgett all x86, ia64, amd64 soft. These don't work on apple m1 based hardware. They can run only on intel based mac.
Only in UTM you can run not ARM opsystems.
