Yup. They’d have been far better with; M1, M1 Better, M1 Bestest.
The Bolded is false and/or isn’t applicable to Microsoft in your post.M1 Max branding is as dumb as the whole Xbox One X / Series X naming.
Try saying this 5 times: "An M1 Max Mac beats all M1 Macs" or "A Mac with an M1 Max beats all M1 Macs"
Can you believe all the organizational layers of Directors / VPs / SVPs who approve these stupid names.
And for the Mac Pro, the M1 SuperbestestYup. They’d have been far better with; M1, M1 Better, M1 Bestest.

This might be the case for other brands as well, but I am an Apple guy, and it is what I tend to notice more often.I think brand naming in general has gotten worse for everyone, not just Apple.
M1, M1 Pro, and M1… what’s beyond professional? Super? Hyper? M1 Hyper? M1 Pro Enhanced?
Is there anything more "Pro" than Max?
How about Apple's "Pro" desktop, M1 Max Pro Mac Pro? It might happen...
I guess Apple really wanted to differentiate the M1, M1 Max, and M1 Pro, I am just thinking there would have been a better way.
I know that M1X was floating around prior to the announcement, I think that would have been a good way to differentiate the chips, and something that the consumers are already familiar with.
Then again, I feel like Apple might be getting into the same problem they had with the product differentiation in the mid 90's, it may lead to another correction.
It's not as bad as Intel's branding:
