Ordering from Apple using my Apple Card requires that I pay now for a new 11" iPad Pro that won't be shipped for another few weeks. Apple used to charge my credit card when the item shipped. Why the change? Is Apple hurting financially? Anyhow, I've decided to wait until there's no wait time (pay for it when it gets shipped). My trade-in will pay for most of it (the difference is less than $280 .. That I can afford). They'll send me a return kit when or after the iPad arrives. I'll time the purchase and return for just after I pay my Apple Card bill. Apple seems to be becoming a different kind of company - getting too big maybe. Maybe it's time for it to split into two or more companies.

Apple in store pickup disappeared from the options yesterday. I’m visiting family in another state and wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to buy here with the timing (also lower sales tax here is nice).

Hoping to see it open up for same day pickup tomorrow morning early since I didn’t preorder this time.

So can you use the Magic Keyboard from gen 4 iPad Pro to the gen 6 iPad Pro with no issues? Slightly worried that it may not close completely for me.
Macrumors had an article about this when gen 5 was released.

There are two generations of the Magic Keyboard. Gen 1 supports the thinner gen 4 ipad. Gen 2 supports the thicker gen 5 and 6 ipad.

Apple claims you can use a gen 5 or 6 in a gen 1 keyboard but it might not close all the way.

Check again , looks like instore pickup is open again for pickup in quite a few places today .

I guess we will find out today

Of course the in-store option returned today, for all stores, btw. Why they do it this way (remove in-store pickup for three days before bringing it back on the release day) is beyond me.

I'm not sure this way is optimal :D. Gives me a headache. The reasons could be anything. Curious.

Logistics probably.

Guessing they take extra preorders beyond store stock which they can guarantee they can ship from China ahead of release.

Day of release, they allocate a certain amount of in-store stock for pickup but reserve the rest for walk-ins.

The joy of being on another timezone is that I was able to secure an iPad for pickup at 4am when I happened to wake up. Yay! I have a window for pickup right when they open and saved about $70 since sales tax is less than half of what it is in my home state. Excited!

Arrived!

I'm happy that I got it, but it's sort of anti-climatic, as it looks and "feels" no different than my old M1 based one. It's not like the Watch Ultra, which felt truely new.

Waiting on my 12.9 iPad to be delivered today. Tracking has shown it as preparing for delivery at the UPS station all morning with delivery by 7pm. Not sure why it is not showing out for delivery yet.

Believe the charge occurs now (to ensure you have enough to cover cost), will fall off, and then you'll get a permanent charge when it ships. Pretty standard procedure.

The difference from my 2017 IPP 10.5” to the new M2 12.” in both screen quality and speed is mind blowing and WiFi at 6GHz is significantly faster on my eero 6e network.

I’m curious how the storage speeds are for these ones. Someone run the JazzDiskBench bench or the Antutu storage speed test with one of these. Curious how it compares to the m1 in that regards
