Not just overpricing the iDevices, Macs too. Worse, the quality control in hardware and software is awful. No one should have to return multiple devices to hope to get one that works. No one should deal with arrogant, unhelpful tech support or staff who throw blame on the customer, and act like they’re doing you a favor. Apple are though and that is what will eventually hurt their almighty bottom line.

My family are elated I am finally trying Windows seriously.

What apps are you looking at on Windows?

Does anyone think Apple will change anything or is this only going to get worse?

Apple won't give us a decent product for a decent price without a defective keyboard anytime soon.

MacOS will continue as "that thing Apple still makes only because they can't dev iOS on iOS yet".

The only Apple product I'm looking forward to is the mythical ARMaMac, but they'll probably screw up the design and the software.

I apologize for being so nostalgic, but I really miss the olden days of Mac, before the iPhone was even born. It’s sincerely upsetting me to feel almost backed into a corner by Apple to build a PC. The reasons continue to grow.

Does anyone else feel like the Mac and macOS have become afterthoughts for Apple? They seem to be obsessed with iOS devices. I get it. Follow the money trail right? I just sincerely wish Apple would bring equal focus to the Mac. QC has slipped something awful.

MacRumors had an article on the last Apple quarterly report. It showed only 9% of the revenue was from Macs.

Agreed, but this isn't new. I think the complaint that apple has been focusing on the idevices is an old argument. I'm not disagreeing. Just look at the Mac Pro, Mini, and MBA. All three were left to whither on the vine for years. Only recently has apple decided to update them.

Most apps I use on the iMac are cross platform, it’s the non-subscription art apps to use with a Wacom tablet at this point. I’ve barely looked as I want to become more acclimated to Windows before I learn something else. Take 3 is going just fine.

I certainly miss that, but all I can do is move forward and try something else.

No need to apologize. :)

Who can say? I am finally moving on after 22 years. I’ve given them more than enough $, patience, and good will since 2013 when all my woes started (after 14 years of smooth sailing).

For me, it is too late. So unless the brass are mind-wiped a la Men in Black, I’ll keep moving forward.

25 years here for me. I haven’t jumped ship yet, but I’m standing on the rail right now. I know this is crazy to say, but it literally evokes an emotional response in me and brings tears to my eyes. I was so in love with the Mac. Now it’s an abandoned child.

OS X products:
don't you think apple is flogging a dead cell phone market too
I’d have to agree that they’ve sort of reached the climax in that market too. Time to bring it back to the device that gave birth to the company.

I think that the market size / potential is much greater for the iPhone and iPad.

iPhones, iPads, and Apple watches along with Apple services are still generating great revenues while Apple computers are not.

I doubt that Apple will ever stop selling computers but the computers will remain a niche product.

I am surprised that Apple doesn't have more interest in maintaining the mac echo home environment thingy.

surprised they gave up the airPort and the home based market, so maybe apple is all into wearable technology?

In the end, a computer is a tool so choose the one that works best for you.

I have owned only Macs since the Mac II si was released and it will not stop me from looking at a Windows computer when I need a new one.

I understand that a computer is nothing more than a device to be used, but wouldn’t you agree that the Apple elicited almost an emotional response? Like I said, I fell in love with the Mac. Steve Jobs brought something of a perfectionist out in me. Now I’m feeling like I have to foresake all that and it hurts. I remember to this day getting my first Mac and how exciting it was. All these years later I still have that passion for Apple, but around 2013 Apple lost that passion for us ‘Mac heads’ it would seem.

All good things comes to an end I guess. Shouldn’t be so.

I would agree with that emotional response. Right from the sales experience to the unboxing experience to setting it up for the first time to years of use and enjoyment, it elicited an emotional response.

I would argue that my experience with the 2018 MacBook Pro(s) still manages to elicit an emotional response. But many are no longer positive :)

LOL excellent point! Totally different emotion, yet a strong one still.

I was in love with what Macs ignited in me: creativity.

Through Macs and the iPads & pencil, I wrote fiction, screenplays, content for web sites, learned web design, digital image manipulation and design, and most recently, I am teaching myself to draw, all without thinking about the computer or tablet I was using.

Over the past three years, I have to think, and in ways that disrupted my creative flow because Apple became form over function, lazy and arrogant.

So I loved my Mac stuff because it stayed out of my way. Now that it’s tripping me up, and there’s no end in sight, I have to do something about it. It’s frustrating, but now I am kind of psyched to be learning new tech (& ultimately graduating to a Wacom tablet to draw).

So I’ve let my anger become curiosity, and my fears an inspiration to unlearn what I have learned.

Besides, some of the Windows machines are gorgeous. Makes it less difficult to move on.

Beautifully spoken, eloquently put! Thank you for that. Makes me feel a little better.

I feel like Apple execs don't even spend 9% of their time thinking about the Mac (despite the platitudes they say about it).

Spin off the Mac into its own company, with schedules not tied to iOS. Not having Jony Ive design them will be a plus.

I was thinking of that too but I'm doubtful that a spinoff Apple computer company could survive.

Hm. Create consumer products in the tradition of the iBook and the original iMac (G3). Give us Mac minis in the tradition of the original one. Sell those things for sane prices.
I am rather positive Apple could triple its Mac sales if only they wanted.
They seem to have completely lost interest in the market segment that once saved the company.

This is what is the most upsetting to me. They’ve almost killed Steve’s baby.

Indeed. No wonder the Mac contributes only 9% of revenues. They do not seem to even try better. Customers are begging for new products (imagine that: no other company I am aware of in whatever market is in this position), yet Apple shows no interest other than ripping customers off with seriously outrageous prices.

They got the most loved computer operating system at their hands. macOS' value alone must be tremendous, and not only for technical reasons. I am pretty sure Michael Dell and the like would **** if they could get hands on something like this... yet for Apple, it became a distant sidekick for iOS, at best a hobby project of minor importance.

It even seems macOS/Macs became an annoyance for Apple and they'd prefer people would not ask for new Macs all the time, so they can let it die away in peace.

I just don't get it.
