Not sure if you guys have tried the EFI1.3 update, but it seems to address a lot of TB display issues. Fixed mine.

Samsung SyncMaster 2343. Runs the native 2048 x 1152 resolution with the stock HDMI to DVI adapter included with the new 2011 Mac mini.

I'm thinking of doing this same set-up. How's the picture quality? Pics?

well I just watched thor in bluray but I have a low cost sony blu ray player bdp-s370 it was good really good with the bluray player. as for the mini server and the tv i am happy with it.

it is funny the mini the tv and the blue ray player all need an internet hookup I added a gigabit switch from dlink and have them all attached with cat 5 cable. i am happy with this setup I know it is redundant but that is okay.

this is also where I attach the one windows pc an asus laptop to the same gigabit switch.

it is a nice ht setup with good speakers and subs. I also have the ability to surf the net with the mini. this also ties into my synology nas all in all I am pretty happy with this room's setup.

Mac mini Server (Mid-2011) working perfectly well with a NEC MultiSync 3090WQXi. Using the special dual-link DVI adapter. No issues whatsoever.

Mac Mini 2.5 with AMD GPU and a 24 inch Samsung SyncMaster P2470HD works nicely with a HDMI - DVI adapter. I might try to use a HDMI - HDMI cable in the future to see if the picture will look any better.

LG2350EV onto 2.3Ghz base model

when HDMI lead from the LG monitor is plugged into the Mini via a mDP to HDMI cable it boots up nice n straightforward.

however.. plug the HDMI cable from the monitor directly to the HDMI port on the mini, and there's then a 10 to 12 second boot up delay

it sits on a pale grey/almost white screen just after the apple logo goes off screen, before desktop finally gets displayed

HP S2031 Works

I picked up an HP S2031 at Best Buy on sale for $89. It is a 20" screen, works well with the DVI port at 1600 x 900 native resolution.

Also, the 32" Dynex LCD TV worked well via HDMI.

I have my 2011 mini connected to my Dell U2311H via a HDMI to DVI cable and it works without any issues whatsoever. BTW - This is running at 1920 x 1080...

Dell U2211H, mini displayport to displayport cable out of the TB port works fine

Dell U2412M at 1920 x 1200 via mini Display Port to Display Port. Brilliant.

If any of the folks above are still tuning into this thread: Are you running Intel or AMD graphics? I have pinstriping issues with the u2211h and my 2010 mac mini, so I'm thinking about trading up to the current model.

I'd be careful everyone. Pinstriping for me too with an Nvidia card with the Dell. Wish I'd gone NEC.

Philips 22" Monitor (1680x1050) with mini's HDMI to DVI converter.
(This monitor did not work with 2005 model mini)
Samsung 40B650 LCD with HDMI cable(1080P)
Samsung 32C550 LCD with HDMI cable(720P)

i just got mac mini i7 with lion os.

i tried it on some no name tv (first boot up)-worked fine
then on one of the LG HDTVs-worked fine
but...
on my phillips 42pfl7603d hdtv i get the boot screen ok (i would say it is in 1080p or 1080i resolution) but as soon as i should get login screen picture goes black and tv displays no input signal message...
any ideas how to solve this?

Aoc v22

Someone up there didn't like the AOC V22; I've had one for several years on a 2007 Mini, now moved it to a mid-2011 Mini (2.3/i5) and it's fine; I usually keep both brightness and contrast dialed way down; I find the screen too bright most of the time, so I keep the "DCR" ('dynamic contrast') turned off unless it's a very bright sunny day. It's the first LED monitor I've used.

Dell U2412M users... people have reported success via DisplayPort

I was wondering if this works fine from HDMI out of the Mini via the included DVI adapter? If so, can you get full resolution etc?

I'd like to keep the Thunderbolt port free on my 2011 Mini and connect the monitor via DVI

edit: Dell U2711 and 2011 Mini with Intel HD graphics works fine with a mini-displayport to displayport adapter.

It appears that only this and the Dual Link DVI adapter can drive the monitor at full resolution. The cable above is much cheaper though :)

Dell U2711 - Compatible (Displayport)

I've read there are some problems waking from sleep when using that monitor with the displayport-- can you confirm?

My Dell 2407 works fine with the mini but at some point I want a bigger screen.

Want to dig this thread up to say that the i5 Mini with the intel HD 3000 chip can't drive a Dell U2711. At least not via HDMI, or any DVI-Mini Displayport/HDMI adapter.

Looks like I need to hunt down a mini displayport-displayport adapter to get full resolution (stuck at 1920x1080)

Should mention that my 2007 Macbook Pro can handle it no problem. Animation slightly jittery, but yeah.

My MacMini 2011 with the HD 3000 chip can run well with my 30 inch dell monitor, but with the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter and with the 1.03 firmware version. But agree, you will have issues with the resolution without the Adapter mentioned above. ;)

It's just a little frustrating I suppose, I needed to get the monitor up and running today so I can get on with work but these random complications have arisen. Also means I've blown £25 on the MDP>DVI adapter :( For now I'm using my Macbook Pro to drive it, while my Mini is still on my old screen. Oh well, ordered a displayport-mini displayport cable from Amazon, fingers crossed it does the job. If not then I'll fork out for the dual-link DVI adapter.

Just out of interest, is there any particular reason why the full resolution isn't available with a standard DVI-HDMI adapter or DVI-Mini Displayport?

The only reason given me is that the other cables do not support the higher resolution. Unknown why unless someone in the know weighs in.....

I am running a Dell U2412 with a 2011 Mini server (therefore Intel HD3000). No issues at all. I have tried both HDMI and TB ports (via HDMI --> DVI and miniDP --> DVI adaptors respectively)

What are you talking about? I've got the current MM Server with the HD3000 and a u2711. $5 Displayport to Mini-Displayport cable. Done. Works perfectly. Why are you trying to use HDMI?

Never had that problem with mine.

Mac Mini 2011 multiple-display compatibility

Throwing a small twist into the thread to detail what I've learned trying to add a 2nd screen.

I have a 2011 MM Server with a u2711 (2560x1440) attached via DP. Works great. However, I wanted a 2nd monitor since I can never get enough screen space for my work.

So, I thought it would be easy: buy the Apple 27" TB display, plug that into the MM and the Dell into it's daisy-chain port. Nope. I found a link http://www.anandtech.com/show/4832/the-apple-thunderbolt-display-review/8 that explains the gory details of how Displayport runs over the TB cable.

The really strange part is that you can't plug a DP monitor into the 2nd port of the TB display - but - if you plug a TB disk drive into the monitor, then you can plug a DP monitor into that and it will work!!! Somehow, the TB chip in the disk drive extracts the 2nd DP video stream. Weird.

OK, more of a pain, but I guess I could sell my u2711 and buy two 27" TB displays. Nope. Found out that the Intel graphics in the MM Server can't support this. I would need the MM with the ATI card.

So, I'd have to sell the entire system and start from scratch! Think any of the sales-droids or even the Geniuses at an Apple Store know this? Not any I talked to.

Turns out the "cheapest" (not really a term normally used when talking about Macs) way to do this is get a 27" iMac. If you get a pre-2011 model, you can plug in a 27" monitor to the DP jack. If you get the current model, there are 2 TB ports and I've read several places that you can plug DP monitors into each, giving you a triple 27" screen computer.
