Here in Brazil, we pay 1600 dollars (R$ 2799,00 or 1180 EUR) for the base I7 mini. That's the funniest joke in the world.
That's why a lot Brazilian consumers travel to U.S. to insanely shop.

indeed

An update would be verry welcome. I'm long past my mental point of no return... I will not pay full price on hardware that is a year old, but i also can't find any refurbished or good second handed I7's.

Besides, here in Belgium we pay 1160 dollars (850 EUR) for the base I7 mini... what a joke ...
makes two belgians waiting

Here in Sweden our price equals 1194$, thats 395$ more than in US.
I know the price on apple.com/us does not include tax but our price does, but still.. huge difference.

Here, in Poland, we pay more then 2000$
for a beefed-up i7 Mac Mini.
(without mous, keyboard or Apple Care).

Here in San Jose, Costa Rica a Mac Mini i5 Basic Machine will set you back around $900.00.

I bought one of the a Refurbished Mac Mini Basic last August through the Apple Store which cost $509.00 but I had to pay around $150.00 for shipping and Costa Rica Customs Duties.

A lot of? ...you must be rich people.... or you've got a low limit for free frequent flier tickets!

what about your customs office? they don't check your baggage adequately?

Ho hum.. still waiting for a Mac Mini refresh. Doesn't look like it's going to happen for at least a couple months at this rate.

Better wait longer than that!

Unless Intel changes plans or Apple does an arbitrary marketing flip-out, new processors for an upgraded mini won't appear until summer. Could be July-October for the update to a new mini. (Having written that, I await Apple to release an update tomorrow).

We should probably look to a 2-year refresh cycle on the Mini, like the iPod Touch. They will cling to the tick, rather than the tock, of Intel processors until Apple's tech crams out their own processors and change the processing nature of their desktops.

A 2-year refresh cycle? maybe....but I am not very sure whether or not "Apple's tech crams out their own processors"...

It's been mentioned as a possibility.

There is always a chance that Apple wants to divorce itself from the Intel tick-tock and all the myriad limitations that come with another company's timeline. With the success of iOS devices, time could bring about a market where Apple tears away from Intel in desktops as well. I'm thinking about years, not next year.

I will quote myself from another thread:
while looking good this thing only has a quarter of the volume of the mac mini (2012). If they go this way soldered ram and some proprietary ssd are very likely. furthermore thermals will suffer (this thing is smaller than intels nuc, which has the power supply outside).
I'd take function and upgradeability over this anytime!

wow this is the best Mac Mini concept i have ever seen! but is it possible?

That's a nice mock-up, and it probably is possible actually though it doesn't see to have provided a vent for airflow. But Apple can definitely make the Mac Mini smaller, I mean they probably could have made it quite a bit smaller already since it doesn't need to fit an optical drive. Chances are Apple will ditch the second 2.5" drive bay, I'm personally hoping they'll keep at least one though, but we'll see.

I'm not sure if they'll go the tall AppleTV route or not though, unless they plan to discontinue the AppleTV and have the Mac Mini take over. Personally I'm hoping for something a bit bigger so they can keep the Mac Mini as quiet as possible, as that tiny square form factor won't leave much room for a good sized blower fan.

One person mentioned circular and I think that would be ideal; should still give enough room for components, but they could use some of the free space to put in a much larger but slower blower type fan so it can cool the Mini but keep it quiet under even heavy load.

One thing worth looking at is the Gigabyte Brix Pro, which is probably close to what we can expect from the higher end Mac Minis spec-wise, but with some Apple design magic I don't doubt that the Mac Mini can be much smaller (and a lot better looking)

The brix is 2.44 x 4.39 x 4.5 in = 48cu in
The mac mini is 1.4 x 7.7 x 7.7 in = 83 cu in

I'd be pretty surprised if the 'new' mac mini could be made much smaller than the brix, considering it's currently nearly twice the size.

Well some of you are right, on both counts.

Apple is indeed redesigning the mini. They actually already did, made it thinner. Slightly smaller. With such a design they are having problems with thermals on the redesign.

They are deciding on scrapping the redesign altogether and going with the current design until they fix the problem, if they ever do.

They are also retooling the Texas plant to produce minis. This is also delayed because they have yet to make a decision on process design for the new mini or continue with current design. At first overseas will produce minis, then they will most likely move to the Texas plant.

But make no mistake. A new mini is coming.

And you have this information from where?

I don't post much, but if you were to check some of my posts there are little gems of info so to speak.

I also provide info to some of the sites many read on here. I own and operate a marketing firm and that is what we do, provide info so business can market there products and purchase. We also work with Apples manufacturing suppliers. We know what they are doing by monitoring what they buy and by talking to suppliers, manufacturing etc. That is what analysts do provide info. I just tend to keep a low profile, unlike some others i know.

Also we are hearing a june release along with a TBD release. Broadwell is what we are thinking.

so we shouldn't expect a new version till June?
You spoke of smaller. Would it be upgradable or no?
