makes two belgians waitingAn update would be verry welcome. I'm long past my mental point of no return... I will not pay full price on hardware that is a year old, but i also can't find any refurbished or good second handed I7's.
Besides, here in Belgium we pay 1160 dollars (850 EUR) for the base I7 mini... what a joke ...

Here in Brazil, we pay 1600 dollars (R$ 2799,00 or 1180 EUR) for the base I7 mini. That's the funniest joke in the world.
That's why a lot Brazilian consumers travel to U.S. to insanely shop.
Ho hum.. still waiting for a Mac Mini refresh. Doesn't look like it's going to happen for at least a couple months at this rate.
We should probably look to a 2-year refresh cycle on the Mini, like the iPod Touch. They will cling to the tick, rather than the tock, of Intel processors until Apple's tech crams out their own processors and change the processing nature of their desktops.
A 2-year refresh cycle? maybe....but I am not very sure whether or not "Apple's tech crams out their own processors"...
wow this is the best Mac Mini concept i have ever seen! but is it possible?

while looking good this thing only has a quarter of the volume of the mac mini (2012). If they go this way soldered ram and some proprietary ssd are very likely. furthermore thermals will suffer (this thing is smaller than intels nuc, which has the power supply outside).
I'd take function and upgradeability over this anytime!
Ha, I actually tried to mock the same thing up in another thread but the results were very crude. I can imagine apple going this route with all SSD to bring back some wow factor.wow this is the best Mac Mini concept i have ever seen! but is it possible?

That's a nice mock-up, and it probably is possible actually though it doesn't see to have provided a vent for airflow. But Apple can definitely make the Mac Mini smaller, I mean they probably could have made it quite a bit smaller already since it doesn't need to fit an optical drive. Chances are Apple will ditch the second 2.5" drive bay, I'm personally hoping they'll keep at least one though, but we'll see.wow this is the best Mac Mini concept i have ever seen! but is it possible?

The brix is 2.44 x 4.39 x 4.5 in = 48cu inOne thing worth looking at is the Gigabyte Brix Pro, which is probably close to what we can expect from the higher end Mac Minis spec-wise, but with some Apple design magic I don't doubt that the Mac Mini can be much smaller (and a lot better looking)
Well some of you are right, on both counts.
Apple is indeed redesigning the mini. They actually already did, made it thinner. Slightly smaller. With such a design they are having problems with thermals on the redesign.
They are deciding on scrapping the redesign altogether and going with the current design until they fix the problem, if they ever do.
They are also retooling the Texas plant to produce minis. This is also delayed because they have yet to make a decision on process design for the new mini or continue with current design. At first overseas will produce minis, then they will most likely move to the Texas plant.
But make no mistake. A new mini is coming.

And you have this information from where?
so we shouldn't expect a new version till June?I don't post much, but if you were to check some of my posts there are little gems of info so to speak.
I also provide info to some of the sites many read on here. I own and operate a marketing firm and that is what we do, provide info so business can market there products and purchase. We also work with Apples manufacturing suppliers. We know what they are doing by monitoring what they buy and by talking to suppliers, manufacturing etc. That is what analysts do provide info. I just tend to keep a low profile, unlike some others i know.
Also we are hearing a june release along with a TBD release. Broadwell is what we are thinking to power that drive that TBD.
