Apple Mac M1 Mini works well with the LG 27UP850 C to C, connected using the USB C cable which came with the LG. I use it at scaled 2560 x 1440 and it's still crisp. At 400 nits brightness it's also pretty bright and colour looks great for design work. Definitely recommend it, bought it direct from LG for approx £380 with a discount if you sign up.

Then only issues I'm having are Bluetooth-related with either Monterey or the Mini, as many have commented on.

I have tweaked the display settings quite a bit. Firstly, so that I can use the function keys at the top of the official Apple keyboard I'm using, I installed the MonitorControl app. This gives you lots of functionality over the monitor instead of always having to use the LG settings using the little toggle switch under the screen.I highly recommend this.

In System Prefs>Display, I've chosen iMac Calibrated which is a setting imported from my old iMac when I swapped machines to this Mini. I don't use HDR as the colours are too vivid and sometimes the screen just goes black. I also have it set at scaled at 2560 x 1440 which is perfect for me as I came from an old 1440dpi iMac. I find the 4K default far too small and 1080 which some people like is too big.

I don't recall which setting I used in the LG menu as I have tweaked the standard settings so it now says "Custom" under picture mode. I can tell you I have brightness at 100, Contrast at 70, Sharpness at 100, Super Resolution off. That gives me just what I need to work, it really is a great screen and Mac combo.

As i said, the only issue I have is the occasional lag in BT but it happens randomly and isn't too bad. I'm wondering if it's because I have a USB hub connected to the Mini via USB C but I need this as I have lots of external USB 3 hard drives, a web cam etc.

In case you're still wanting input on this:

Just bought a M1 Mac Mini and hooked it up to my Dell P3421W via USB-C and it works a charm right out of the box.

Single cable for video, and USB hub. Both webcam and mouse working perfectly through the monitor, will update if that changes.

Hi all !

With the threads multiplying about monitor choices for the Mac mini M1 and since I got many likes about my proposition to create a wiki thread listing compatible monitors, I decided to create a wiki thread where everyone could contribute.

If you have a monitor which is compatible with the Mac mini, please list it here below. If it required any special manipulation/setting/adapter, please mention it in the appropriate section.

Reduced the Apple Font Smoothing to 1 (if I choose 0, the fonts are thinner and more fuzzy). The colors looks to me OK even with YPbPr- the contrast is overall a little bit less I think. Switch to RGB with HDMI with help of the QGeem Hub: I can't see any major difference in color- the contrast is better I think.

Really nice to see a list like this. It might serve best to select the column of brand and use it for ascending order? It would save people time when looking for certain brands/models.

I just picked up the ASUS ProArt PA279CV 4K monitor and connected it to my Mac mini M1 running at 2560x1440. Stunning is all I can say, and this monitor "only" runs at 60 Hz. For me, resolution is more important than refresh rate and I'm primarily using my computer for office work.
How are you connecting those two? Via USB-C, HDMI or DP?

Unfortunately for this conversation, I have moved into an LG Ultrafine 5K monitor. I don't recall any issues, but I can't confirm any longer I'm afraid.

That's ok. I really appreciate your effort. Hope it all turns out well.

Has anyone tested the Dell C2722DE? If so, how does it work? Does the built-in webcam (and speakers) work?

Also considering the new Dell U2723QE. Nice panel but I would prefer an all-in-one solution.

I have a couple of monitors in use I can vouch for.

The LG 27UP600 works just fine on one of our mac mini's. No special settings were needed when getting it setup or calibrated. It is connected via USB-C to Display Port.

The Samsung Odyssey G5 is connected to our other Mac mini and it works however the display doesn't work correctly at 144hz from the Mac Mini. When setting the monitor to 144hz it works fine from a PC but has lots of display artifacts. For best picture you need to set it to 120Hz. The monitor is connected via USB-C to Display Port cable.

Have you calibrated the LG? If so, how did you do so? I just used SpyderX Pro calibrator and it looks off to me.

I'm not sure. I ended up going with the U3421WE. I've been very pleased with it.

Hello! I see you've since moved on to the Studio and Studio Display... wanted to ask about your M1 Mac Mini experience with the Dell U3421WE.

I've just sold my old late 2013 i5 iMac and looking for something new. Considering the M1 Mac mini with that same monitor. A little late to the party since I'm looking at stuff you've already used and gotten rid of... but I don't see any reasonable alternative for the Mac Mini unless I go to Mac Studio, but I don't need that speed (though I'd love those extra ports for external hard drives/SD card reader). And as for monitor, there doesn't seem to be any decent new 34" IPS either (been mainly looking at LG and Dell). I need the monitor to work with both PC and Mac, so unfortunately the lovely Studio Display won't seem to work (it messed up my PC laptop's resolution and the resolution on my external display in the office after I tried plugging the PC laptop into it at an Apple store).

Anyway, long story short, could I check whether you connected the Mac Mini to the Dell U3421WE using the HDMI or the USB-C to DP, or something else? Figuring out if I'd still have 2 free USB-C ports on the Mac Mini after getting this monitor (by using HDMI), or in order to get the proper resolution on the monitor, I'd need to use up one USB-C for it.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if the Dell P2423DE (24" 1440p with a built-in usb-c hub) would work well with an M1 Mini? Clear text is most important to me, but I can't afford the Apple Studio Display so I was hoping the 1440p would scale well, especially on a smaller 24".

No, stay away from QHD panels if text clarity is essential for you. You might get some improvement using tricks to get HiDPI mode which does not work normally (I tried it myself with QHD when I had one but I just did not find it good enough and I got 4k panel). I suggest you to get at least real 4k panel if you want clear text.

Has anyone tried connecting the 27" LED Cinema Display A1316 to an M1 Mac mini via the HDMI port, perhaps using one of these adapters?

I'm considering a two-display set-up and would like to connect a Studio Display via USB-C, leaving me with the HDMI port to run my old Cinema Display...if possible.

If anyone's had success or failure trying this, I'd love to know! Thanks!

Thanks to all for the great info - has been really helpful! Now I'm down to 4 new monitor choices to hook up to a new mac mini m1:
1. LG 27ul850-w
2. LG 27UP850
3. ASUS ProArt PA279CV 4K
4. Dell S2722Qc

Any feedback on the monitor with LEAST problems/best-results would be much appreciated

the new model of this 27UP850N monitor is out, but honestly I don't find any difference with the 27UP850 model of 2021. Maybe the panel or the electronics have improved?

Asus is known to have non existent customer support, and LG is not that much better, so purely from the support perspective, I would go with Dell. I have U2722DE and I couldn't be happier. It is not 4K, but I personally don't care for that as 1440p is plenty sharp for me and don't need to deal with odd scaling etc.
