Just installed MonitorControl v4. Was a little skiddish doing it (was on GitHub), but went ahead with it. I can now control my Dell U3421WE's internal speaker volume via the macOS menu. It's not the built-in macOS volume control, but there is a MonitorControl icon that I can adjust brightness and volume. G'bye Logitech speakers cluttering up my desk! :)

I just saw the Dell C2722DE that has a built-in camera and speakers. The camera pops up. I wonder if this is compatible with the Mac Mini. It looks like the perfect monitor for my situation.
Hi! Any idea if this monitor from Dell works well with Macbook Pro M1? Any issues in using it with Mac Mini?

I noticed there’s also firmware update and Display Manager available for my U3219Q. Is there any reason to install these since my monitor already works in RGB mode?
Installing the M3B110 firmware resolved the problem of USB-C connected U3219Q monitor failing to be detected on startup of after waking from sleep. I have not noticed any unexpected side effects but YMMV.

You can download the firmware updater for MaxcOS from here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/dell-u3219q-monitor/drivers.

I installed the Dell_U3219Q_FWUpdate_M3B110_macOS.pkg and followed the app prompts to install the latest M3B110 firmware, shut down the M1 Mac mini, unplugged/replugged the U3219Q from power, booted up the Mac mini, and bingo -- problem resolved as the monitor is now detected over USB-C after waking from sleep and after cold boots without needing to disconnect/reconnect the monitor!

I hope this helps.

Please add the following, I have no permission
Brand: Dell
Exact model: S2721DGF
Interface connected: HDMI 2.0 (x2), DP 1.4 Port (x1)
Cable used: HDMI 2.0 that came with the monitor
Color scheme: RGB and YPbPr
Issues: -
Notes: works perfectly with 144hz using HDMI 2.0 at 2560x1440 (you could have 165hz (max supported) with DP but I never tested)

I just purchased the LG 27UL500-W and so far I love it (HDMI to HDMI). Text is super clear, photos and video look excellent, no flickering, no wake-up issues and for $299 I felt it was worth a shot.

Here´s my contribution to the thread.
Started of with af HP E27 G4 (QHD - HDMI). Works perfect.
Then I decided to go 4K with af Philips 328E (4K HDMI > USB-C - Just love it. Runs in native resolution.
Can yu take a photograph of how that looks please? I take it you are not down scaling?

As you wish...

AOC U32U1 works fine and has HiDPI scalability options. I have set the color profile to RGB and the colors look amazing, vibrant. I can’t stop looking at it.

The U2417H from Dell needed more love. It didn’t get into RGB-mode. So I changed the displayserver plist. There is a guide on Github on how to enable it back on Monterey. LinkDescription section is missing, but if you copy it back by yourself, it works. :)

I ended up going with the U3421WE. I've been very pleased with it.
I believe you previously had the Dell U3419W, correct? Why did you decide to move to the U3421WE? I have been considering the U3419W as Micro Center has them listed at $800, while Dell still shows the U3421WE as unavailable, but I'm not entirely clear what the difference between the two actually is.

I think I was looking at the U3419W, but by the time I purchased it was the U3421WE that arrived.

EIZO CS2740, USB-C to USB-C, 1920 x 1080, no display issues.

However, USB hub doesn't activate USB3 hub ports only USB2 ports; should activate all of them at indicated speeds as it does on 5,1 Mac Pro which connects via display port to display port and a separate USB3-B to USB3-A connector.

PS: Returned the M1 mini for various reasons. Apogee Duet audio interface not fully supported on M1; USB-C hub issue. (BTW, is there a worse mechanical computer interface than a USB-C connector? It is prone to mechanical disconnection just from tension exerted by the cable - especially problematic for a monitor which one may adjust to various positions. This needs to be a locking connector.)

LG 27UL850-W connected via USB-C.

No display issues. USB hub is fine but I don't attach drives to it - just my keyboard and a webcam.

Had to set "Prevent your Mac from automatically sleeping when the display is off" in Energy settings or the display backlight would turn on every 5 minutes or so. That means that the computer never goes to sleep but at 7 watts for idle that works out to about $0.60 a month.

All in all, very happy with this monitor.

I'm using the LG 38WN95C-W with M1 Mac mini, thunderbolt to thunderbolt with supplied cable. No issues and can run native resolution at 144mhz, screen is 110dpi and the UI is sharp although you can see the pixels, also bought the DELL u4021qw, this worked to on thunderbolt with supplied cables, but at native the UI was too small and scaled everything was blurry for me and I returned it.

I have a couple of monitors in use I can vouch for.

The LG 27UP600 works just fine on one of our mac mini's. No special settings were needed when getting it setup or calibrated. It is connected via USB-C to Display Port.

The Samsung Odyssey G5 is connected to our other Mac mini and it works however the display doesn't work correctly at 144hz from the Mac Mini. When setting the monitor to 144hz it works fine from a PC but has lots of display artifacts. For best picture you need to set it to 120Hz. The monitor is connected via USB-C to Display Port cable.

With the Mac Mini M1, if using it merely for Microsoft Office applications and browsing the internet, does a 120Hz or monitor really 'help'?

I just picked up the ASUS ProArt PA279CV 4K monitor and connected it to my Mac mini M1 running at 2560x1440. Stunning is all I can say, and this monitor "only" runs at 60 Hz. For me, resolution is more important than refresh rate and I'm primarily using my computer for office work.

Nice choice. I like the stand on that Asus. One complaint I have about my LG is that the stand does not pivot. The Amazon listing says it pivots, but yeah, if you grab the monitor with both hands and twist the whole thing, it pivots.

The Amazon listing for Asus says it runs at 75Hz. What does your display setting report?

How does it work for screen resolution in native 4K mode? Is it equivalent to 1920x1080 but Retina-ified? Or is it 3840x2160p with tiny fonts? Also, at 2560x1440, do you notice any font blurriness? For my 5K 27" iMac, I noticed a bit of blurriness if I chose a non-standard resolution, but I found the scaled resolution gave a default font size a little too big.

My goldilocks pixel density is about 200 ppi, or about 100 ppi in non Retina terms, when in a desktop. The 5K iMac pixel density is too high at 218 ppi, and a 27" screen at 2560x1440 is too low at 163 ppi.
