Mac Mini showed up yesterday afternoon...

Pics...

For reference, I had a 2.66 iMac, and have the top Aluminum Macbook, and this appears to be just as fast... I'm loving it!

Are you saying the Mini is just as fast as both of them, or just the Macbook? If it's as snappy as the 2.66 (core 2 duo?) Imac, that's impressive. I'm seriously considering getting one and this bit of news may have pushed me off the fence!

I'm debating on purchasing one tonight.

Is there a big performance difference between the 2.0 and 2.26 cpu? I usually deal with media such as photos and video editing. Thanks.

Well I finall thought my first Mac - 2.0 Mac Mini. I went to the store on Friday and paid for them to install 4GB of RAM. Yes, I know it's overprice and you can do it yourself for less, but my choise was well founded as...

I got home and turned it on the set it up only to find no wireless. As it was late I couldn't do anything. I poked around online on Saturday morning and couldn't see anything that might be a "fix" so I made a Genius bar appointment. Took it in and they said the airport card was faulty. They ended up replacing the unit and adding the RAM to the new one. Took her home and everything worked fine - was prompted to join wireless network immediately.

This is exactly why I paid extra for the RAM from Apple. I didn't want to be the one spending my time fixing the unit and getting frustrated.

Now I just have to get used to this OS X thing. :(

Hey... Superman should have no problems with stuff like this. And as for "getting used to this OS X thing. :( " WTF? Put on your big girl panties and buck up... ;) It's a joy not a chore! (You're going to love it!)

Faulty airport card indeed....I'd bet dollars to donuts that when they did the upgrade in store they forgot to re-connect one of the antennas....which they discovered when you brought it back and they opened it back up.

I got the same email! It made me excited at first, until I thought about it for a minute.

I got the same email on Thursday and also thought it was amusing. Despite the conservative "We expect to ship your order out [within 5 days as originally promised]", the mini shipped out the next day and arrived today. So it did, in fact, ship earlier than expected (2 days, instead of 3–5).

I was more blown away by the fact that my Mini was in Shenzhen, China on Wednesday and in my hands today. FedEx IP Direct Distribution is some amazing free shipping.

Just ordered mine as well, after a lot of hesitation back and forth... I custom-ordered it from Apple with 2 GB RAM (I won't be needing as much as 4, especially not considering the huge price increase)... I really hope that this machine lives up to my expectations :)

Expected delivery date: 18 Mar, 2009 - 19 Mar, 2009

Excellent specs ;)
I'm so happy we can now have a speedy Mac min with great graphics card, there not to many people out there who would *need* more than that

It's going to be my dad's birthday gift. He used Mac OS 8 before and later jumped to the Windows platform. He always want to use his LCD TV with a computer.

May someone say when or under what situation 4GB memory has obvious adv over 2GB memory?

I cant decide if it is worth the extra for more memory. Thanks

It helps the system to not slow down when running more than one Application at once and in general OS X loves to utilize RAM

Running multiple apps simultaneously and especially working with large file sizes, like editing in Photoshop. RAM is CHEAP! 4GB around $50! Max it out and let your computer breathe easy with less need to access the hard drive.

My order just got delayed until the 23-24 of March :( I'm seriously thinking of canceling my order... I just can't wait that long!

Bummer...:(

Mine just got shipped! :D Allthough the expected delivery date is March 19th?! Bizarre. I hope they are just playing it safe and that it might just possibly get here before the weekend.

My 4gb RAM kit and X25-M SSD arrived today so I am all set and waiting for the mini. :)

I loaded it up with my old Time Machine data, got all the updates and did my installs of software. This is SILENT. I had it copying over 50 gig of Mp3's then video and another 20 gig of pictures, it never made a sound. Heat is no issue either. I was really debating on just getting the low end Macbook (white) or this, as it's just for sitting next to my Windows PC, sharing the same LCD... but I'm glad I went with the Mini, I really don't think $799 is too high for what you get. I'm very, very happy.

Was it simple to load your Time Machine data? I have to do this to but have never done it before.

It can still be done after the initial time you start it up though....just in case you wondered.
Not sure how on Leopard(I'm on another OS) sure someone will chip in though....

Yes, if you forget to do it during the initial install you can run Migration Assistant in Applications/Utilities.

Canceled my order. Will buy it directly instead and install more memory myself. I'm just too impatient to wait, and all this waiting and anticipation is making me nervous...
