Ordered mine (base model w/ 2.26 processor) on monday night also ordered 4gb crucial ram at same time from newegg. Received confirmation that both were shipped today. As i was looking at my newegg confirmation Wed morning about to track it ups was at the door with the ram!

I placed my order on the 9th with processor, RAM, and hard drive upgrade. It shipped out earlier this morning from Shenzhen, China.

Just received my 4GB from newegg today and installed. Shipping and delivery were quick. Mini running better.

I went to the store on Friday and paid for them to install 4GB of RAM.

Does the store really charge you? I was thinking of purchasing the base model and having them upgrade to 2GB in store. With my education discount should be $595 before tax. How long does it take in store to upgrade, how much do they charge?

The 2.26 GHz processor is (verifiably) 13% faster. If saving that much time is worth it to you, then buy the 2.26 GHz version.

Nope, not verified.

That's comparing the 2.0GHz processor in the previous generation (T7200, Merom, 4MB cache, 667MHz FSB) to the 2.26GHz in this one (P8400, Penryn-3M, 3MB cache, 1066MHz FSB).

It's not 13% faster than the current 2.0Ghz Mac mini (P7350, Penryn-3M, 3MB cache, 1066MHz FSB), it's 13% faster than the old one.

I just ordered myself a Mac Mini - base spec. I don't know how quickly they're delivering in the UK at the moment though, does anyone know?

I've got 4GB of Crucial memory on the way although unfortunately I couldn't get it from Crucial direct because they're out of stock - I had to resort to Dabs.com. :( I haven't been able to put a succesful order through with them since they got bought by BT and generally turned to poo, kept getting silly address problems. I've moved now though so fingers crossed it'll be ok.

I'll be putting a 7200rpm 250gb drive in there too. :)

I've already had an Apple Remote delivered thanks to eBay and I've got one of the Apple Wireless Keyboards on the way too thanks to eBay (brand new and cheaper than getting one from Apple even with the HE discount). I don't need a mouse since I'll just use the one that's meant for my Mac Pro, I never use it because its so rubbish anyway.

Picked up my Mini today (1 GB base model)... Runs perfect so far, I seriously don't think I need to worry about the ram for a while :) I should just have gotten one directly from the store in the first place... Since I canceled my custom order, I now have to wait for Apple to release the $850 transaction on my card....

Yeah that was a good plan cancelling the order. When you upgrade the RAM you can go straight to 4gb for pretty much the same cost now! Mind you, since Apple have done the decent thing and made the 1GB in the base model actually a single 1GB stick instead of two 512MB sticks, you could just get another 1GB stick if you want to keep the costs down. Maybe put the money towards a faster hard drive.

How odd, my order says its estimated to be delivered "12 Mar, 2009 - 16 Mar, 2009". Tomorrow's a bit ambitious of them considering I only ordered it at 9:30pm today!! I'm hoping for a Friday delivery.

Your doing well, I placed my order Monday 10th 12:42am, and it was marked as 4 working days, estimate of 17th - 18th. This morning it swapped to 19th - 20th for delivery to Germany :(

This is the base model with the 2.26GHZ chip and 4GB ram. I really have no inclination to take the machine apart. Maybe one day to upgrade the HD, but for now 120GB will suffice given it will have a Drobo with 4TB attached to it :)

I've never experienced a machine order from Apple where it hasn't been a CTO so I've got no idea what to expect in terms of shipping times. Every time I've ordered something before in the past its been a CTO and I've had to painfully watch it move like a snail around the globe. This was mildly bearable when the apecode website worked but when my MBP got delivered last October I was left for days with no update on where in the world my machine was. :(

Can someone tell me why my 2.26Ghz CTO mini is being shipped from the Czech Republic?

I called apple to ask about my order, and the girl told me it was shipped from the Czech republic on the 10th to Holland, and then shipped with either TNT or UPS to Sweden.

Is there an Apple assembly factory there?

And how can it take 9 days for it to get from the Czech Republic? How are they transporting these things? Packing them on the back of blind mules? :)

I dont get the 9 days shipping time.

Hahaha, welcome to the world of Apple CTO orders. I remember a while back when I ordered a CTO from Apple at launch, it took so long for it to arrive that we calculated the time it would take for it to arrive via carrier pigeon. Even assuming it took lengthy breaks every day, it would have arrived faster. :p

My CTO Mini which was a base model, but with 2.26GHz shipped out of Shenzhen China to me in Washington State the same day I ordered it on the Apple Online Store. I guess if you don't need a memory upgrade, the base 2.26GHz models are stocked on shelves ready to roll out the door. It was at my door just a few days later.

I think it's called spamie.

I'm living in WA as well. It took them less than 2 days for building my 2.26Ghz/4GB RAM/250GB HDD Mac mini.

Hmm. Well it took them one week to ship mine, and it will take 9 days for it to arrive after that apparently. I didnt get the RAM upgrade from apple either. Perhaps it takes longer for it to ship since I will be getting the Swedish version, but once it has shipped, how can it take 9 days?

Oooh, my Mac Mini order just changed to "Prepared for Shipment". That's mighty fast, considering I only ordered it six hours ago. Its still saying "Delivers: 12 Mar, 2009 - 16 Mar, 2009" although I was expecting it to drop to 13th March at least after midnight. Bit strange!

I went to the store on Friday and paid for them to install 4GB of RAM....

Does this mean you got the Apple Store/Genius Bar to install the memory? I am curious if Apple policy is across the board, because my local Apple store didn't have the new mini in stock launch day, so I ordered it ($599 version) online and got it around the same time they got it in stock.

I went into the store later on to ask about upgrading the RAM/HDD and asked if I could pay them to do it, I'm fairly comfortable with building PCs and so forth, but something seems iffy about the whole popping/clicking aspect of unhinging the case of the mini, and I don't want to break the little bugger.

Anyhow the Apple worker said no, they wouldn't install it, and opening the case would invalidate your warranty. I asked him how they would do repairs on their own without opening the case up, and he walked away. So yeah, long story made longer, I should be getting the Crucial 2x2 gig sticks tomorrow, and now I'm curious if I should just ship them back if they aren't going to install them.

OK, fine. My old mini also has more RAM and a faster hard drive. I then present Geekbench (32-bit) score exhibits A & B and C & D:

Geekbench database results
A: 2.00 GHz 1GB Macmini 3,1 [1]: 2706
B: 2.26 GHz 1GB Macmini 3,1 [2]: 3032 (+11%)

Personal results
C: 2.00 GHz 2GB Macmini 2,1: 2652
D: 2.26 GHz 1GB Macmini 3,1: 2999 (+13%)

Is that better? There isn't a significant gain in tests like this with the new architecture, which is why I considered the comparison a reasonable approximation.

Ordered mine from a local shop here in town. Got the base model with a 4GB ram upgrade and a 320GB Seagate 7200.3 HDD upgrade, still waiting, sigh.

I'm glad though you guys are getting favorable results. I can't wait for my desktop replacement mini to arrive. I'm using my macbook right now and I miss the dual 24" displays I am used to using.
