Does anyone plan to sell their current Mac Mini if the next Mac Mini update is significant/major?

Nah, I fully expect to be using this bugger as my main desktop for at least the next 4-5 years. Once I retire it from desktop use, it'll become a dedicated server. I get a lot of use out of my machines :)

-Faster Processor
-Optional GPU
-More FireWire ports
-Keyboard/mouse included
-Easy access to RAM/HDD. (I bet they could so something on the bottom of it)

Better yet, put a G4 Cube-like push handle on the side or back . That is the coolest way of access I've ever seen.

My needs are simple.

- Dual Intel i7's.
- Up to 32GB of RAM
- 8 HDD bays.
- 256GB SSD. Standard.
- Dual nVidia Quadro FX 4800.
- 12 hour battery life. For the heck of it.
- 12 USB 3.0 ports. 12 FW 3200 ports. Cause there's never too much I/O.
- Slimmer form factor
- Starting at $499.

I was going to ask for Blu-ray...But that's just not going to happen

Sounds like you want an i7 Mac Pro with more drive bays and SSDs.

I'm thinking we'll have Blu-ray as at least an option on the next refresh of Mac Pro.

Yes, we know these are funny, but it would be more contributory to say something like:

I want dual i7s, 596 TBs on an SSD RAID... jk :D

I would actually like to see:
  • slightly faster cpu, possibly i5 when it comes out (?)
  • better heat management and airflow for peace of mind
  • like many have already suggested, better accessibility and end-user upgrades supported

Maybe you can atone by posting your actual desires.
:D

Thanks

Would be nice if it came with the Apple Bluetooth mini keyboard and a mouse, or a discount on them. Also it would be nice if it were a bit easier to open.

Not much else. Any request for "more" on the Mac Mini and you are no longer dealing with a mac mini. More powerful processor = more power consumption / higher price, 3.5" hard drive would require a bigger case, etc. Basically, the mini is what is it is. I have heard people say that netbooks or mac minis should have fast procs. But if they did, they wouldn't be netbooks and mac minis.

1) Quad core CPU; it there's a market for one, then an appropriate chip will appear.

2) 8 GB RAM capacity.

3) A second mDP part instead of the DVI port; why keep a soon to be obsolete port when adapters are available?

4) Dedicated GPU.

5) A grille for the internal speaker to improve the sound.

6) A FW 3200 port that can be used to connect to a third party expansion box or other peripherals.

7) A power supply brick with matching color and footprint that can be placed underneath the main unit.

8) Move the on/off switch to the front and backlight it with the power/sleep LED.

I recently bought a Mac Mini to serve largely as a media/theatre PC for the bedroom. I also run Windows 7 on it in a bootcamp partition. Its a great little machine. The only thing I could think of putting on this list are;

1. Larger stock hard drive capacities
2. Stock SSD option
3. A matching form factor external drive (similar to 3rd party offerings)
4. Blue Ray

Yes, 5.25" please!
You see, those things are so durable. I remember I've dropped them down the stairs, into the sink, in the toilet, ran over by my dads truck, and those things still work.

I'm telling you, we need to bring back the classics.

1. Faster Processor (~2.66Ghz or higher).
2. Upgraded GPU.
3. Support for 8GB RAM.
4. Front facing USB port x1.
5. Power button on front (tired of the reach around).
6. Simpler access to system memory and HDD (the Macbooks have it so why not the Mini).
7. New chassis with all aluminum body.

I turn my mac mini to face backwards on my desk. I sometimes hook up my mini display port -> dvi adapter to it, and im always plugging/unplugging USB stuff, so it's just easier like that. I haven't used the CD drive once so its not a big deal that it faces backwards....
