Thunderbolt 5 should easily be able to support a +5k display at 120Hz. Wonder why there is no mention of it in the tech specs? Do they reserve that for the M4 Max/Ultra?
In any case, good news for an updated Studio Display with ProMotion next year alongside the M4 Studio.

Love my M1 Mac mini and I will be upgrading. I'm glad they kept the audio port which I do use with my plug in headphones!

Nice! I wish I had something useful to transfer at that speed

I do. I just bought a 40" 5K2K monitor with a 120Hz refresh rate. That would gobble up nearly all bandwidth on Thunderbolt 4, but Thunderbolt 5 will have some headroom. I bought this monitor expecting to settle for 60Hz for a while, but the future is here today.

iMac was apparently introduced with TB4 ports, and I was surprised by that. This is very good news.

This Mac mini with M4 Pro handily outperforms my Mac Studio M2 Max. I expect the refreshed Mac Studio with M4 Max/Ultra to be announced at the end of this week — and those CPUs promise to be absolutely amazing.

What does Apple chip labs want with these old crappy PC motherboards then eh?

Still 256gb base sadly. At least Thunderbolt 5 should make external boot drives faster than ever.
Hoping OWC updates OWC MiniStack STX to Thunderbolt 5. TB 5 will have enough bandwidth to support a fast SSD boot drive plus additional IO. The current MiniStack STX is TB 4 and to make everything work the SSD is limited to a single PCIe lane which constricts SSD speeds considerably.
