That's why we love the Mini. It doubles as a tea/coffee warmer.![]()
hahaha,
How hot does it get during bootcamp? I cannot run my MBP under in windows due to the heat. I'm hoping my soon to be Mini will be able to handle it better.

So I have a Core Duo mac mini 1.66ghz that I upgraded to a core 2 duo 2.33ghz. I just got my 2gb dimm to upgrade to 3gb ram to see if it would work. It DOES NOT. Won't boot. Put the 2gb of ram in my kids imac, 17" core 2 duo and it works fine in there. So there it is.
The core duo mac minis with upgraded cpu won't take 3gb ram. Sucks.
Did you try just the 2GB stick in it? I'd be curious if it just didn't get along with the stick in the other slot or if it really can't do 3GB. If they are just using Macbook parts, I wonder what is different about the C2D Mini and Macbook to cause 3GB to work in one and not the other?!?

I am waiting for the santa rosa mac mini. Do I need to start a waiting for santa rosa mac mini thread?![]()
No. The 3.3GB limit is the unsupported maximum for Napa, the pre-Santa Rosa platform. Santa Rosa can offically support 4GB. The minis are still Napa.
Proof? So, I am guessing that the newest Mac Mini (Napa) 1.83 and 2.0 can support 3GB.
And when the Mac Mini (Santa Rosa) is announced in October, it will support 4GB

Just a wishful post about Santa Rosa in October, but it is bound to happen eventually.
The new Mini is not bad at all for the price. Sure, you get the GMA 950, but quit complaining,...
I think you'll have to wait until December when the release the Mini with the Santa Claus chip set.

No skippiness with 1080p trailers on my mini. Trailers from apple.com/quicktime are the only source I have though.1. 1080p performance. I hear different opinions on this. Some say it runs fine, others say it's skippy..
The tiny speaker in the mini is only good for alert sounds. You won't want to listen to music with it. Any super-cheap pair of external speakers is going to be better.2. Speaker, is it acceptable for desktop level? I'm currently fairly happy with my iBooks speakers, so I'm not asking for too much.. just to be able to hear it.
Maybe after the official announcement of a release date; such announcement likely to be only a week or so before the release date.3. When (if ever) will Apple start allowing free/discounted upgrades for new Mac purchases to Leopard? I'm a HS student so I can't get the discounted price, and I'd rather not pay $130 in a month.

As the C2D Macbook, which shares the same architecture as the C2D Macmini, including the GMA950, supports 2 x 2GB RAM sticks (it only recognizes 3,3Gb, though), is should be the same for the mac mini. As the mini has just been updated, I seriously doubt we'll see a santa rosa mac mini before q2 2008. There are rumours, though, that the Macbook might get the SR treatment around the Leopard launch, or shortly after that.
I haven't, but Other World Computing (macsales.com) is selling a 3GB upgrade for the mini, so it must work.Has anyone yet tried putting a 2GB memory stick in the newest Mac Mini to see if it really will accept 2.5GB or more?
I'm curious if such a move, using unmatched DIMMS, results in a performance hit. Obviously, if you run lots of apps that are RAM hogs, you're better off with 3MB than two. But would performance actually be better with two? I know this would probably require extensive testing. My question is only hypothetical.i bought and installed the OtherWorld 3GB RAM set and it works.
