Beta 5 still gets hung up at difference places during each reboot assert failed, then appleFScompressiontypezlib, then intel82574l and finally eth0 eth1.

Using an NVME as my boot drive

Have you guys tried a clean install with the full beta 5 installer?

at the time I tried there was just the update from beta 4 on air.

So I did a clean install on a spinner,

MP5.1 Dual 2xX5680 GT640 Sata SSD, Sata Spinner, AHCI Apple Blade

can't get BS to boot via OC (iMac Pro Spoofing, Firmware 99 Setting)

Get it to boot without OC with -no_compat_check

here's the Kernel Panic Log in case it helps:

You may try AppleIntelMCEreporterDisabler kext wich is used on dual CPU systems.

So there I have to use OC to load the kext - or fiddle the hell of it with BS to make the System Volume writeable?

have that nice error 66 when mounting / writeable

I barely have dual Mac Pros to deal with. An when I put Mojave on them.

btw it boots without OC

I dont doubt that the kext is needed, but in this case: why does that machine boots just fine without OC when MCEreporter is the culprit ?

Only if you are spoofing iMacPro or MP7,1. They don't have multiple CPU's hence this check on the Apple side. If there is nothing spoofed it should not panic even with OC.

11.3 Beta 6 is on air, someone tested it on a 5,1 ?

can't do it during the holidays for myself, just have a 3,1 here.

I wonder if using the IONVMeFamily from 11.2.3 with a higher IOProbeScore than the default one from the betas will not select that one instead?
Code:
<key>GenericNVMeSSD</key>
        <dict>
            <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
            <string>com.apple.iokit.IONVMeFamily</string>
            <key>Chipset Name</key>
            <string>SSD Controller</string>
            <key>IOClass</key>
            <string>IONVMeController</string>
            <key>IOPCIClassMatch</key>
            <string>0x01080200&0xffffff00</string>
            <key>IOPCIPauseCompatible</key>
            <true/>
            <key>IOPCITunnelCompatible</key>
            <true/>
            <key>IOProbeScore</key>
            <integer>5000</integer>
            <key>IOProviderClass</key>
            <string>IOPCIDevice</string>
            <key>IOUnitName</key>
            <string>disk</string>
            <key>Physical Interconnect</key>
            <string>PCI-Express</string>
            <key>Vendor Name</key>
            <string>Generic</string>
        </dict>
Here
Code:
<key>IOProbeScore</key>
            <integer>5000</integer>
Instead of the original 100

It look like there is no way to replace the kext in BS unless symbols are patched:
I will only try the next released version and if it hangs on NVME, 11.2.3 will be the last I use until a solution is found.

Apple has updated IOnvmefamily 577.60.13 -> 577.100.13 in Big Sur 11.3 beta 3, having an NVME drive in a pci slot causes assert failed..

Using an NVME drive on Big Sur beta 3 & later causes a kernel panic on boot. This may not be fixed with the release version of 11.3…
I would imagine loading the older kexts from previous version, either by deleting snapshots, installing kexts, then rebuilding snapshots or loading them via openCore would work.

Any procedure for that? Loading via OC will not work. See my previous comment with the link to the issue.

Since BS actually boots from snapshots, you havr to delete snapshots. Install new kext, trbuild kextcache then rebuild snapshots. Google installing kexts in Big Sur. Or just disable snapshots altogether with jacklukeem’s basesystem fix in his github.

Don't want to disable snapshots. I want to keep the system as close As possible to the original.
