Sorry in advance for not checking, on iPhone and not sure I can check stock, but are you still seeing availability for tomorrow 27th?

No. When I checked back tuesday after the conference call the date for most of the stores had changed to may 1st. Checked last night and the date had been pushed to may 2nd. And just now after reading your post, I checked and the date has once again been pushed back a day to may 3rd.

My guess for whats causing this: Lets say they are coming out on the 8th. If 3 weeks before, stock dries up and all of their stores are showing availability of may 8th its a dead giveaway that thats the release date. Instead they throw out a date a few days after their conference call. The day comes, no new mp's, they push the date back. We all loose a little hope. Next tuesday comes, still no new mp's, they push the date back again. Everyone is completely convinced the mp is dead. Now all of a sudden the availability date says may 8, but no one really cares because they cried wolf the first 3 tuesdays. May 8th comes, Apple drops new mp's and no one sees it coming. Apple didn't abandon the pro market and everyone is happy. And they still probably beat hp and dell to the market.

Hello there, as many of us here are waiting desperately for a new Mac Pro, I've been browsing around Apple's website and I found something very odd, and it leads me to believe that we might get new Mac Pros next week.
Here's a few screen shots of their pick to order widget thing on their website:

What gives?
:apple:

// My local Apple Store (Apple Store Del Monte R305) pick up delivery dates have slipped. It is now showing May 1st, which is a Tuesday. We'll see.

What does thouse numbers mean?

i am not good in that

I think that we might be over thinking this a little bit. The Apple site now shows that the Mac Pro is in stock and ships the next biz day, 1 - 3 days with customization. The iPad, however, ships in 5 - 7 days. So what do we make of those tea leaves? I am waiting for a true Apple oracle to tell me the future ............ :)

Based on the evidence, I can think of two possibilities:

1) Demand is so high, Apple Stores can't keep them in stock. The Mac Pro sells like hot cakes!
2) Demand is so low, that Apple Stores don't bother to keep them in stock. If a customer shows up and wants to buy one, then the store orders one and asks the customer to come back when it arrives.

Neither of those does anything to predict a refresh or a cancellation.

Pimp your old Mac Pro with the PCIe SSD from OWC it will feel like a new computer.
Installed mine a couple of days ago and Very pleased with the performance and snappy feel of mine.

Well - I did that two times - major problems with the Sandforce controller firmware that no one could fix.

Got a refund - big waste of time.

IME the only SSDs worth buying right now in terms of reliability and bugginess are the Intel drives. They cost more, but well, yeah.

Sorry that you have had bad luck with OWC SSDs ( were they SSD or PCIe SSD) i have had the opposite experience so far and it hope it stays that way, if it does not i shall post any failures.
What were the symptoms of the controller problems ,a drive that does not work at all or just badly?

Apple sells a lot of iPads and can't make them fast enough like with what happens every year?

The difference is iPad ship times are going down (they start at 2-3 weeks), Mac Pro ship times are going up.

I still am pretty amazed how tight lipped anyone associated with the Mac Pro is at this late stage. Not a peep.

The drive(s) would not stay mounted after sleep or shutdown - it would not show up on the desktop and took a lot of trial and effort to get it remounted. All of the latest firmware updates and all the king's men could not put the OWC Pro SSD back together again :D

Well I don't know what to do now. Settle for a 27" laptop with the ivy bridge update, continue to wait or try to get a 2010 6 core mac pro. Great.

Or keep waiting?

It's not like they can keep making the 2010 Mac Pros for ever. I don't get why people act like they'll just keep making them forever and never discontinue them.

I'm seriously considering this as well. Thinking about picking up a 2010 model and doing the hex core update

At some bizarre point they'll start loosing money trying to fill 2010 orders with parts Intel does not make anymore forcing Apple to source from eBay and their own previous customers.

Mac Pro anything above a quad - out of stock - no date

I went to the local Best Buy store here in Jonesboro AR to pick up my mother an ipad for mothers day and out of curiousity I asked if they could get me a Mac Pro 8 core he got on His computer to see if they had one in Memphis TN where they get theirs from and there was a look of shock on his face and silence for a few seconds. Then looked at me bewildered and said "well, it's not showing anything above a quad core with no due date for anything coming in?" He said that is strange! and said guess not....

No due date is very suspicious. Of what, I dunno. But Best Buy and the Apple Store both not stocking them with no new orders?

Best Buy doesn't have the BTO and ship to store to fall back on either.

Apple Store (US) wait time has just increased by 1 day!

It now says "3 to 5" rather than "2 to 4" for a 12-core or any configured Mac Pro.

Update - actually, if you do a really weird configuration then it drops down to 2-4. Maybe that means they can't even fill something complicated.

I could not stand the wait and purchased a Pro back in December ( a Hex core that very rarely appears on the UK refurb site) also wanted the purchase to fall in the 2011-2012 Tax year.
Happy with my decision, had Eizo monitor(so not iMac) wanted loads of ports plus esata and more processing power than my 2010 MBP and now i have added PCIe SSD.
Have to say i think Apple have/are behaving badly over this and losing respect. If it is the end people can buy one knowing thats what they need, move to windows or other or purchase the next iMac which may well fulfil many peoples needs with a less than full gloss screen and with thunderbolt accessories access to all sorts of devices in the future.
Come on Apple your behavior is just plain irritating and upsetting your followers.

How is your 12 core refurb, did you get the 2.9? had it the higher spec graphics? I would pick one of these up right now if it appeared, what discount did you get?

Finally how is the PCIe SSD? is it your boot drive? Did you go 1TB?

Thats an epic setup!

----------

Just an observation but for the last few weeks the refurb store here in Ireland and UK had one Pro Mac available on it, and on Thursday it filled up with all base models. Inventory clearance perhaps?
