hmm i guess that theory is out the window.
I've run through every theory I can think of as to why the X1900s are taking so long. It's not location, I'm in Torrance, CA just north of Fulerton where they are building all these systems for the US.

It's not alphabetical, it's not by cost, it's not which systems have wireless and which don't, it's not ease of assembly, it's not by date ordered which is the most perplexing pattern. Some people who ordered a day or two after the keynote don't have theirs but people who ordered September 1st have theirs, just downright ridiculous.... I can't think of any other theories, like I said in a previous post, I think Apple is just passing around a satchel with all the web order numbers, picks one out at random and has it built and shipped. That's literally how random it all seems to be.

Maybe they just don't like you...;)
Thought about that. If I don't have my MacPro in a week, I'm filing a discrimination lawsuit.... Okay just kidding. :D I'll just camp out in front of Apple HQ with other disgruntled future X1900 owners with a huge bonfire, torches and pitchforks. LOL

Ok. Bootcamp is installed. I installed BF2.

Battlefield 2 absolutely HAULS! I turned everything on max, including draw distance. It runs like butter.

Call of Duy 2 is up next, then Far Cry.

ok I have oblivion running on the mac pro with x1900. The video card starts getting loud after about 2 mins and some warm air is comming out. Hopefully arctic cooling will come out with a new out of case exhaust type cooler for the x1900. I have one on my 7800GTX and it's silent.

I have it running on apple's 30 inch cinema at 2560x1600 with HDR on and everything else.

It's pretty smooth. Is there a benchmark I can run for it?

This might be a bit hard to explain, but how much louder does it get versus the sound at idle? Same question to Fedge if he doesn't mind. Thanks, much appreciate you running these tests. :)

It's a lot louder than when idle. Its about the same as a 7800 GT or GTX with the stock cooler when you're in game...except the x1900 is slightly...not sure how to explain it..."buzzyer" Whereas the 7800 is more like just air blowing.

When it's not running a game, it's close to silent.

It's very smooth in Oblivion at such a high res. I'm quite impressed with it. I'm inside the castle though. Not sure how it will be outside. I don't have my saved games on here yet.

The computer is about 4 feet away from me on the side of my desk and the noise bothers me a bit in game. I can hear it over the dialogue in oblivion, but it's using the built in speaker in the mac pro right now.

As soon as I finish installing WoW, I'll install 3dmark06 and run it. It just finished downloading.
I'll then install the catalyst 6.8 drivers and try it again.

BTW, here are the windows drivers for the apple cinema displays. It puts a little apple control tab in the advanced section of display properties and lets you control the brightness etc.

It is much louder than when it is idle. Loud enough, I guess.

Interesting Side Note: I can't seem to get any audio in Bootcamp. Not through the internal speaker, nor either of the speaker ports.

You gotta download and install this for sound.

It sounds like a dustbuster. I know, I had a stock cooler on my 1900 XTX in my PC. I put this on it to quiet it and even at full speed, its quieter than the stock cooler at idle.

Great, thanks guys. :) Either way it sounds a lot better than my dual 1.8Gh with a Radeon 9800SE in it. The fan was right in the open, so it made quite a bit of noise even when nothing was going on.

Yeah it's a nice cooler, it keeps my 7800GTX virtually silent (and cooler).

The one on my 7800GT is a lot better though as it actually exhausts the air outside the case like the stock x1900 cooler. I wish artic cooling didn't go to that new acclero design. I need to keep the heat out of the case =/

BTW is it kosher to extract the rom from these things so others can try flashing PC versions or is that frowned upon?

When installing the Realtek HD Audio driver, i get an error that says:

"Warning: Microsoft Bus driver should be loaded in your system before installing Realtek HD audio driver!"

Where's this bus driver? I see no busses, nor anyone fit to drive a bus.

Hmm, wierd I didn't have that error...it extracted and installed and then autodetected everything in device manager then I rebooted.

What yellow exclamations do you have in device mgr? Oh...did you update the driver for "pci device" that's with an exclamation? Once I updated that (by just letting it do it automatically) it then detected an audio driver....then I installled those drivers you just downloaded.

FarCry
Everything maxed out. Very High settings for anti-aliasing & anistrophic filtering. I'm getting 55-76 FPS on average. I've never seen FarCry look this good . . . EVER.

The x1900 is fairly loud, in comparison to the rest of the machine. It's "whirs" I guess. Sounds like any 'ol mildly loud case fan. But it's much more quiet than my AMD system, so I'm not complaining.

The visual performance is what counts, and it's astonishing!

That doesn't sound too bad at all, love how the graphics performance sounds though. :) I can't wait to try out Quake 4 at max on that sucker.
