Bought a Ultra/20 CPU/128GB/1TB 15 minutes after store opening. Original window Apr 5-12 to EU.
It shipped Mar 29, current Apple estimate Apr 7, and DHL tracking showing that the shipment has not been handed to them in the Netherlands yet…

Good to know. I'm looking for Amazon or John Lewis to stock them, as they offer better finance deals. Amazon is usually a little cheaper and offers interest free payment over 5 months - and sometimes over 12 months (the 12 months offer seems to come and go). I'd probably buy the M1 Max from them over 5 or 12 months.
John Lewis do up to 24 month interest free credit, which would enable me to get the Ultra, but as I'm a self employed musician and producer, I'm not sure I'll qualify, although my credit is 'fine'.

My display has been ”preparing to ship“ for almost a week now. Apple is still claiming delivery by this Thursday, but I have my doubts.

Not to create any more anxiety, but I just noticed that the pending charge on my Apple Card for the Studio Display is no longer there. I just chatted with the Apple Store online and got no helpful information. I'm beginning to get worried that I won't see the display by this Thursday.Oh crap. That’s not what I want to hear. Those ASD due to arrive this week are most likely already in the US and they will be shipped UPS next day air.
Mine is out for delivery right now, and it shipped UPS Ground. It went to preparing last Thursday, shipped Friday, actually moved on Saturday (to a location in a city a little over an hour away), sat there until last night, and moved overnight to my city.
Three observations:
- I'm still using the tracking number from Apple, and it never has shown up in my UPS account.
- I think the UPS network only has overnight transfers by truck on weekdays between some points. In the middle of a week, having a package show up at the next-to-last location pretty much always means I get it the next day. But, I think the weekend was an issue there.
- I should get it today, and that's one day before the end of my window. That was probably a bit worse than it would otherwise be because of the weekend, but that window location may help others develop accurate expectations about delivery.
Having ordered a Max April 1 with a June 27-July 11 delivery date, posts showing a significant shortening of delivery windows are encouraging
Based on this I suppose I should hope to get my display around next Tuesday. If that happens, both of my orders will have been delivered within estimated ranges upon ordering.
I got the Mac Studio in day two of its window and, if all goes well, the display in day six of its window. It does seem like the displays are relatively more constrained than the Mac Studio.

I've set it up, and thankfully can confirm it doesn't have any annoying fan noise.
I can hear a very faint fan noise, but it's barely audible, and certainly not a problem.
My wife - who has much more sensitive hearing to me - can't hear any irritating him pitched whine too. Awesome!
It's a great piece of kit, but does look like a 'fat' Mac Mini

UPS tracking confirms arrival in Cologne:

So I'm hoping our Studios will be on UPS232 in the early hours of tomorrow morning (from Cologne to East Midlands on the way to Philadelphia). UPS232 doesn't fly every day of the week, but it has flown the last two Wednesdays, so there is a very good chance it will fly tomorrow. Arrival at East Midlands is about 2:30am which is enough time to get to my local UPS depot and then be out for delivery tomorrow!
Well. my Mac Studio is on the truck for delivery today. Almost 2 weeks before the latest day that Apple had said when I ordered. I already have my trade in package but no sign of any movement yet on the display. Without the display, can’t do anything. I would happy to see my card charged on the preparing to ship happen. The first day of the expected Apple delivery at order time is Thursday. Seems like they are having some sort of issue with the displays. Maybe to do with the bad reviews for the camera or just chip shortage issues.
My Studio Max ended up going from Shenzhen to Shanghai to Tokyo and is currently about an hour away from Anchorage. From there it will likely visit Louisville and then Sioux Falls before moving on to its final destination. Maybe Thursday, probably Friday, given the various connections.
Interestingly, while UPS has been pretty stingy with updates, Apple on Friday updated my AppleCare coverage end date to April 8, 2025. Which will likely be spot-on.

Woohoo! Just got the email from Apple that my Studio Display has shipped and will deliver by Thursday, April 7. The tracking number hasn't shown up on the UPS website yet, but this is a step in the right direction.
