I have seen estimated benchmarks from the M3 Max on YouTube.
M1 > M3 single core +24% and multi core +35%. I expected more. If the speed increase is not bigger I'll keep my M1 Mac Studio.

It's gonna have to do something more than just be faster for me to upgrade. Seems unlikely that I will be moving up from my M1M Studio for a long time.

To me, a focus will be on 3D rendering for M3 Max. Likely, Pro Res numbers will slightly improve but 3D viewport and render will see significant improvements. To the point I may want to upgrade M2 Max to M3 Max. Of course, this workflow won’t be for everyone - but I suspect gaming will also be used as a marketing angle here.

A couple of pure speculation points here - I’d like to see Apple do a Pro Mouse. If they want to begin to compete in gaming and 3D, the middle mouse button is key. And 2 - be crazy to see them go off piste and do something a little more gnarly design wise. Just something with a bit of bite to it, instead of the usual brushed aluminium silver or space grey vibes. Something with some black, even some - gasp - led lighting, and some harder design angles.

When do you guys think we’ll see an m3 Studio? Next wwdc or later?
I think anyone’s guess here is a good as nothing TBH. There’s too many variables at the moment to even speculate. The only pretty concrete data we know is it’ll at least be a year from the M2 Studio.

Currently have a M1 mini. Working great. Wanted the studio but decided to wait. Glad I did. Sounds like the M3 processor will bring a good boost. My M1 will be going to my camper once I get a M3 studio.

I currently have a M2 Pro Mini, and will most likely get the M3 Max Studio.

If course, it depends on when it launches, what the specs of it when it launches, and the launch price of the M3 Max Studio.

At one point, I was thinking about getting a AS Mac Pro, as my Mac Pro 1,1, while still daily used, is a power hungry, aging beast that needs to be retired.

But everything I liked about my Mac Pro 1,1 and what has kept it going on for many years, the AS Mac Pro doesn't do or doesn't do as well, upgradable GPUs, RAM, and easy internal storage options. The AS Mac Pro was pretty disappointing to me.

The Studio is a much better deal, given the issues mention above.

I have a M1 Mini as well, and was going to wait for the M2 Max Studios, but the M2 Pro Minis launched, and it seemed like a pretty good deal at the time, especially since I had no idea when (or if) the M2 Max was going to launch.

It retrospect, I wished I would have waited a few more months for the Studio, but a the time, the M2 Pro Mini seemed like the logical upgrade to my underpowered M1 Mini.

Happy with the M2 Pro Mini, but will probably get the M3 Studio when it launches.

I have an M1 Max 32 core GPU. I was looking forward to the M3 because of the 3nm chip. The CPU is going to be fantastic but I am a bit worried about the GPU because of the number of cores that stays nearly the same as with the M2. If there is no significant improvement of the GPU speed, i won’t upgrade.

I agree about the GPU, however what does give me hope is that the GPU cores may be totally redesigned as Apple integrates ray tracing.

There was a rumor that last years iPhone chip was supposed to come with ray tracing GPU cores but were scrapped last minute as they used up more power than anticipated. I wonder and hope that with M3 Apple has been able to figure this out. Being a new type of core design on an updated node, I wonder if that is the reason we are not seeing big increases in core counts: the cores themselves could be much more powerful compared to previous cores.

The Mx Max is unfortunately first and foremost a laptop chip.

Apple needs to make dedicated desktop chips that are allowed a much larger power budget and the new Mac Pro is evidence of that.

Assuming that monday does indeed bring M3 Pro and M3 Max to the Macbook Pro what would be realistic timeframe for the M3 Mac Studio? Are we looking at WWDC again or potentially spring event?
First Studio was released in March so if we assume that M2 was indeed delayed and now Apple is trying to get back to the 'original' schedule, could it be that we get M3 Studio in spring event?

What are your thoughts, pls?

M3 Extreme know something or just hope?

Don’t you think there would be concerns about High level M3Pro mini stealing business for those waiting for M3 Max Studio? I thought the was an issue for the 1st half of 2023 with the M2 and I thought Apple would try to avoid that mistake again

Yeah, thats what would affect me too.
I'm waiting for M3 Studio but if the Mini comes first then I might be persuaded and get that instead. Once the Studio is out I will most likely not get it as I will be 'settled' (if workflow is ok with the mini power which we will see how good the raytracing/gpu is) :)

Man the Studio is STILL the best value Mac IMO. And still the one I want, the M3 chips certainly give a GPU boost but the slower memory bandwidth seems stingy? I am saving for the base Studio with 1 terabyte SSD, all I need.

I see it the same way! I find it unbelievable how this machine still starts at $1,999. Should be at least $2,499. I will get a refurbished one early next year. At least that's the plan :D

I keep thinking how long will it be kept at that 1999 price? One day they’ll increase it.

Seeing that the MBP got price increase then I would assume the M3 Studio will be more expensive also. Same happened with M1 to M2 studio here in Canada

Looking forward to seeing how the M3 Ultra on the future Mac Studio fares with Blender and UE. I want to know what their hardware accelerated raytracing stuff is really made of.
