Ok, you said "what wasn't mentioned", so I was just saying it's no surprise it wasn't mentioned---which you already know. I'm as hopeful as you are that they get the screen sorted out on this one.

Well, I will order TODAY. I will next day the order. So, with any luck I will have it by Wednesday! I will write a full review then. I will write a second review after 30 days. I will benchmark everything versus the rev B, as my friend is going to help me write and review it. He loves the MBA as much as most of us! I will do every BTO option available. We still aren't 100% certain that there aren't options not mentioned.

BUT, it looks like the rev D MBA will either take the direction further, or go smaller! At least, I have a primary Mac capable rev C MBA to wait out the direction of the rev D MBA???

I have saved up $4k for a new MBA and 24" LED ACD. Looks like I need less than $3k! I sure wish they would add a 30" or larger ACD TODAY!!!

I actually am thinking about buying a 13" low end MBP to review with the new MBA. Then, I could use both and see if there is any reason to want the 13" MBP??? At $1199, how could it be wrong? I need another computer for my daughter's birthday on July 6th anyways!!! Just maybe. I am waiting for Apple.com to come back online.

In addition, waiting to see what a new iPhone 3GS is going to set me back for high end version (have another $500 set aside there). Going to resell the 3G white iPhone I have once I get the 3GS though! So, really my tech dollars are going further than ever before with APPLE????:confused::confused::eek::eek::eek: :D:D:D

So Apple reduces all the prices so that we can buy lots more?:D

Looks like it for you Scottsdale. I too will be getting the top-end MBA, and a 13" mbp. Which range I'm not too sure just yet, but most likely the base model depending on the spec. The iPhone 32GB will be mine once it's available in my country.

LOTS OF MONEY INVOLVED STILL!!!

And it looks like there's no BTO for Air anymore...

No kidding. I am shocked that there is nothing to upgrade at all. Although I am not surprised, since the gap between the models is now next to nothing.

And my EPP discount isn't nearly what it was... though the $700 price drop definitely alleviates some of the pain :).

I am not sure. If i remember right, i think they boosted the battery from 4.5 hours to 5 hours?
That's no boost at all in real life terms, no new tech probably just a new reference/test to support the claim.

Meanwhile the 13" MBP is claiming SEVEN freakin' hours

Guys if one of you could do this 13MBP vs. rev.C MBA (preferably 128SSD to 128SSD), I for one would be really appreciative. In a perverse way I hope there's something wrong with the new mini-MBP - I just need an excuse dammit :D

Yes, the price adds up for all of it. Since there are NO BTO options (I don't understand this), I am going to try calling the four Apple Stores in the area and see if I can get the high end MBA today for $1799. I am going to BTO the 13" MBP to get a few things added. I am going to review them both. I will buy the 2.26 GHz 13" MBP, but I will upgrade it to 8 GB RAM. I want to show people what it takes to use 8 GB of RAM!!! I want to prove to myself that I don't need 8 GB of RAM or even 3 GB of RAM. BUT, I could surprise myself. I will try it with 4 GB of RAM that I have in my current UMB (and 2 GB from last uMB still have). So, I will show the new 13" MBP with 2.26 GHz CPU (3MB L2 cache) with 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8 GB RAM! I will compare it fully with the MBA. I will review them both. The MBA is going to feel a lot faster because the SSD, so it will probably still be my primary Mac, but I am open to changing my mind!

The things I think of that I like...

MBA vs 13" MBP
$1799 vs $1199 = advantage MBP
3-hour battery vs 7-hour battery (real time???) = BIG advantage MBP for portability all day long!
EXTREMELY PORTABLE vs Nice portability = advantage MBA
128 GB SSD (FAST) vs 160 GB HDD = advantage MBA
BOTH have backlit display (AWESOME - this really comes in handy especially with a Mac used on couch or in bed at night).
Glossy vs Glassy displays = MBA wins if no LINES!
Silver Bezel vs Glossy Black Bezel = advantage MBA
2 GB RAM vs 2,4,8 GB RAM = 13" MBP wins and this may be reason to buy it!
BOTH have 9400m and connect nicely to a 24" LED ACD!

LOTS MORE TO THINK ABOUT!

Called two of the four stores... no MBAs Today! Will let you all know...

Scottsdale, I beg you please if you're going to do a comparison, please go for the 2.26GHz MBP with 128GB SSD - that way we can get as fair and true a comparison between that and the new 2.13GHz MBA 128GB SSD as possible.

You can always fiddle with RAM chips and re-test performance as a separate analysis. The rest is all pretty much subjective.

Scottsdale I doubt you'll fine more RAM to make a big enough difference to change your decision away from the MBA. On my Rev B. I run adium, firefox, pages, itunes, and safari(10 or so tabs) and haven't ever used all of the 2GB of RAM.

maybe it can make a difference every once in a while, but IMO it's definatly not a deciding factor unless your using graphics software/playing games(and that will be limited by the other MBA components before RAM in most cases)

usb Ethernet adapter comes free with the MBA now!

A nice gift inclusion to be sure. Would have been really awesome if they had included the video adapters as they had on the original.

Also, I just saw that all computers purchased after today qualify for the Snow Leopard Up To Date program.

You forgot to mention the 6MB on-chip shared L2 cache in the MBA vs the 3MB in the MBP 13"

Agree with that, which is why I suggested it was a little half-hearted as a gesture.

As for the SL update, I read that ALL Leopard users would be able to upgrade for $29 anyway. So does that mean the Up to Date program is free?

*edit* ah just now seen.....$9.95.

Oh by the way, how many of us believed this?

"Apple never announces any Mac hardware/laptop updates at WWDC do they? It's all about software and iPhone isn't it....."

:D Guess we all got that one wrong didn't we.
