Since 40 nm mobile GPUs appear to be delayed to later in June, maybe we won't see updated MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and MacBook Airs until then?

(I'm not sure which GPUs are to be released on 40 nm though.)

The rumored replacement for the 9400m is the 40nm chip codenamed "iGT209"-- I can't find much info on the chip, though. Perhaps Apple will jump ship to ATI or back to Intel integrated?

God I hope not.

I'm much more Zen about an imminent rev.C these days. If it happens, fantastic sign me up. If it doesn't, well then I'll just impatiently wait a couple more months. Just grown so very very tired with all the pointless speculation.

While anything is possible, I don't really see apple going to ATI or back to intel this soon. Nvidia supplies not only the graphics chip but the entire chipset. Any gains in performance and battery life would be lost. Additionally there have been no new rumors regarding chipset changes as there were when apple switched from the intel chipset to the nvidia one.

Plus apple has a history of using the same graphics chip for several revisions of their machines (the x1600, gma 950, 8600 and the x3100). So I wouldn't necessarily be shocked if a new MacBook air had the 9400. I think apple is smarter to increase performance by increasing the CPU and ram rather than a new graphics chip. Then again. I wouldn't complain if they did. :)

You up on the Intel legal battle with Nvidia? So Intel is arguing that on Nehalem CPUs, Nvidia has no license to provide separate GPUs to work with Intel CPUs. Basically, Nvidia can provide a GPU with Core 2 Duo CPUs but not Nehalem. When the Mac notebooks get Arrandale CPUs, it's back to Intel crap graphics! So we need to enjoy this while it lasts which is for one more revision, one more revision assuming not Clarksfield/Arrandale next.

So we all need to pray that Nvidia and Intel renew their vows. The Nvidia GPU has been a dream for the MB and MBA (heck even the MBP's 9400m).

I still think the 9400m makes it into the next Mac notebooks assuming Apple stays with the same lineup of Mac notebooks. Maybe the 13" MB becomes a MBP and retains 9400m plus adds 9650 GT (dedicated graphics).

Anyways that is the info on the Nvidia battle with Intel. If Intel wins, us Mac notebook buyers lose with 50% less performance with the Intel graphics.

Will heat be a problem with the 13" MacBook? It definitely will with the MacBook Air. Supposedly the upcoming Intel integrated GPUs are 2x the performance of the previous generation, but that would still be behind the 9400M (I think).

Well, Today is a good day for an update, the only problem is what update is the MBA getting? Is it really just the CPU? I can live with it. I am surprised though. At this point, I am waiting for Apple.com to come back online to see the changes to the MBA. I am hopeful for more RAM as a BTO option. They just didn't talk about it at the live feed here??? Could be battery?

At those prices, I have to believe the standard versions do not even include SSD??? Lots of BTO options is what I have been asking for???

We will sell. But I think it will be a MacBook Pro along with a MacBook Air that I buy today. I cannot believe the Express Card slot is gone from the 15" MBP??? Seems like a good day for people wanting a 15" MBP to use like a MB. Seems like a good day for low end 13" MBP consumers with backlit keyboard and 8 GB of memory option, excellent display, and battery for $1199!

Hi Scottsdale..I don't know if you remember me, we had a discussion about buying an MBA (the thread i created about an advice about buying an MBA) and you advice me to wait.

It looks like there is no 3G slot, and no RAM upgrade. So is it only the process pump? it looks like it from the speech!

I think the Microsoft commercials really hit home especially with the economy in its terrible state. I am truly SHOCKED that Apple made its PRO lineup more consumer friendly and priced it according to market demand and NOT the Apple way.

I really want to see what $1799 includes!!!

Well I hate to say it - even if I've started a new thread about it  - but there is now a serious dilemma re. the MBA.

I really think the new 13" MBP specs have blown the rev.C out of the water - it's light years ahead in all but the form factor.

My MBA love......RIP :(

That is really ONE HELL OF A PRICE CUT!!! Did you guys ever see this coming from Apple? I really really really wanted 4 GB RAM!!! Sucks, but at $1799 one gets the 2.13 GHz and SSD!!! MY GOD, Jobs has been gone too long! Let's pray he decides not to come back. The new Apple, ready to sell more Macs than ever!

I'm shocked too that they've gone so aggressive with their pricing. Cannot recall Apple ever reducing prices to such an extent.

But in doing so they've upgraded the MB to frankly unbeatable spec compared to the MBA. As I've said elsewhere I fear even more than ever that the rev.C is the last we see of the 'Air' brand - hopefully not the form factor.

For me, i am not that disappointed. The only thing i would've liked was the inbuild 3G slot. Other than that the upgrade will be very good for my use (secondary computer). I think people who would like to use the MBA as primary will be much more disappointed :(! Considering the unbelievable improvement of the MB!
