new issue
while running a few tabs on safari...the youtube page I had kinda of went into beat repeat mode where a 2second clip of audio was repeated over and over
had to force shutdown

full of bad bugs it seems
this happened at 48 000
first major issue I've noticed at 48 000 other than the small clips and pops when pausing/scrubbing through audio/video at times

Unless the machine froze you shouldn't need a force shutdown. Try relaunching coreaudiod in the Activity Monitor.

Anyway an update should be out before end of the month.

weird noise happened here too after Grageband switched me to 44k while I was watching a youtube video without even stressing the laptop there was a beeping sound, like the one in live tv shows when someone throws in a curse, I switched to 48k and it went away. anyone experienced the same issues? the beeping sound in particular ?

I just started experiencing the crackling speaker issue today with my 2018 i7 2.6. It's only happening to me in Windows via Bootcamp. I've noticed it three times so far today. The speakers don't crackle after booting up, though. They start midway through gaming. All three times it's started after 45 minutes to an hour of gaming when the computer is hot and the fans are ramped up. I'm wondering if this could have something to do with heat.

I stopped gaming and exited and trying playing something immediately afterwards from YouTube. No crackling whatsoever. I booted into Mac (which, by the way, my keyboard and mouse don't work at the macOS login screen after restarting from Bootcamped Windows, another huge frustration with this computer). No crackling audio in macOS yet. I haven't tried it after doing some intensive work yet, however.

how are the latest Mojave betas?
anyone testing the latest beta experiencing any of these crackling/audio issues in Mojave?

If its not really reproducible other then VLC, then it may very well be software related and replacing the laptop won't solve anything.

Did some more long testing and I was able to reproduce the crackling on other apps as well (Spotify, iTunes...). Going test with audio set to 48k.

Some people still feel its software based. Given that I don't seem to suffer form it, I just don't have any sort of recommendation.

Others have posted hat they went through multiple machines, I guess it all depends on how bad it is, how much it bothers you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I tend to listen to a lot of music as well as watch video content on my laptop. I'd say it's pretty bothersome. But, exchanging and re-installing everything is pretty bothersome as well. I do have another 5 days for the 14d exchange at Apple store. Let's see how things are going.

Restarting coreaudio fixes the problem for me

sudo launchctl stop com.apple.audio.coreaudiod && sudo launchctl start com.apple.audio.coreaudiod
