so in summary
theres no fix in Mojave yet
and no patch in near forseeable future...contrary to what has been said on this forum lately...
nothing in media from apple addressing issues
all forum and apple support speculation
pathetic for a pro machine with professional users at the price point
with exchange periods winding down
some stores not replacing units with this issue because its software related-according to some
others saying get an exchange
this is a mess and a joke

also been considering jumping ship lately

I would suggest waiting for a resolve to this before buying the MacBook Pro 2018 or choose a different brand if you can’t wait. There are a lot of alternatives these days.

I believe that summary is fairly accurate, unfortunately

''dude, instead of crying on the spoiled milk, go ahead and make a refund, if they refuse, sue them.''

it isn't milk and im not crying

just a rushed release with many frustrated, disappointed time pressed users/''PROS'' who want to know whats going on with their upward of $3000 investment...

not good for apple or its users...
or do you think this is good for apple and its users? rhetorical question there bud

I’ve been lurking & following this thread since I got my brand new i7 32gb 1TB last week. I work in audio for a living and about two days in to owning the machine the crackling started, along with echoes when watching videos. I figured I would wait to see if this was patched, but disappointingly there are also problems using an external audio DAC.... I get momentary intermittent drop outs of audio when using Spotify, iTunes, and Roon. My 2013 iMac which I upgraded from does not have these problems at all. It really sucks to drop four grand on a brand new machine and find that for what I use it for, it brings problems that a five-year-old Mac does not have. I really think Apple has gotten distracted by all the cash from these iOS devices it really sucks to drop four grand on a brand new machine and find that for what I use it for, it brings problems that a five-year-old Mac does not have. I really think Apple has gotten distracted by all the cash from these iOS devices & they just throw the pure computing products out there - throttling issues, kernel panics, keyboard issues and audio problems are something I am not used to in my 25 years of Apple product ownership. So this thing is going back today and I am absolutely not going to be an early adopter on anymore of their computing products. This T2 stuff is a work in progress obviously. I will wait to upgrade after a few months of seeing whether or not the products have the basic functionality they should, especially for the price.

And as a sidenote I did call Apple support and had a nice conversation with them where they acknowledged the problem, said they were aware of it but did not give me a timetable for when it was getting fixed. And they said whether or not I returned it was up to me. I like the machine but I think this is the last gasp on this particular iteration of the MacBook Pro, that’s why they shoved it out there ahead of all the exciting new stuff they’ll be launching next month.

A dog is a dog.

Sadly I am in the same boat. Got the first one replaced after reports on the Logic Pro forum that some users are not having issues. Now the new one is having similar problems. As a pro user who uses audio software to make a living, I'm stuck in a hard place... Return over and over again, hoping to find one that has no issues? Wait for a fix with no time table as these bugs cost me time and money daily? I am enthused that Apple is releasing new machines (like the mac mini), but the focus on form over function is not a great path for us pro users. I would have switched platforms already if I hadn't already invested so much in Apple only products and software.

I was sure it was hardware issue because if it was software issue, it must be effect to all of MBP 2018 but fact is most of MBP 2018 haven't this sound crackling issue. If we compare betwwen two MPB, one was normal and another has sound crackling, both have use same OS and software so why one is normal and another got sound crackling ?

Personally I think people who haven’t encountered this bug yet with their 2018 MBP are going to end up having the problem eventually. Perhaps they just haven’t had the same use case that resulted in a problem. It isn’t repeatable under predictable circumstances, it pops up unexpectedly. I put on a one hour long 4K YouTube video yesterday and the problem didn’t start until about 45 minutes into it. I rebooted the machine and the problem was gone For a while but came back.

Well this sucks... Now I have to go to an Apple Store where they don't know the problem yet and thus have to take in my MacBook for 5-10 days before they decide what to do with it...

Restart your MAC's. Press command, option P and R simultaneously for 20 seconds or until you hear a second chime. NVRAM/HW reset. Let me know if it fixes your issue.

Just chiming in to say that I'm having the same cracking, distorting, and skipping issue. Just bought a new machine two weeks ago since I fried the logic board on my last one. Extremely frustrating since I use my machine primarily for audio applications. I'd be embarrassed to be an Apple employee with this level of quality being released.

I'm on my third one now and it has the same issue as the previous two. There is always some noise on the background whenever any audio is playing. If you keep pressing volume down (even if it's fully muted) you can also hear the noise. I'll get a refund and buy something else.

It's not. There is no noise when no audio is playing. If you do anything audio related the noise comes.
Heh, the hissing, yeah.

I’m on my second. You’re on your third.

This issue blatantly affects >50% of machines, easily. And/or people just don’t know what to listen for.
[doublepost=1534930305][/doublepost]Inb4 someone quoting me saying they have no problems.

I’ve got the issue with crackling as well. I also experienced a glitch with a YouTube video the other day. I was watching it (sound was normal etc), and then went to the previous page in Safari (the YouTube home page). The sound from the video I had left continued playing but it was skipping like a broken record. Only stopped when I watched a new video.

A prior phone call to Apple resulted in a PRAM reset which seemed to help at the time. At the moment the whole thing isn’t too severe though, and everything else has been ok.
