Wouldn't be surprised if HS supplemental update doesn't come out till Mojave release so that components are kept in sync.

Just experienced tinny and thin sound that rattled at the top end almost like the speaker was broken, but just from the right (confirmed by adjusting balance in sound settings). At first it sounded like my speaker was surely broken, but thankfully an SMC reset (holding down power button for ten seconds method) appears to have fixed it.

For me the most worrying thing in this is that the way the speaker was playing would have eventually caused physical damage, as it was emphasising the high frequencies so much the sound was ringing (and painful!). I really hope a software fix comes soon.

EDIT: subsequent testing reveals this problem isn't actually fixed and that sadly it must be hardware related. Off to Apple I go...

EDIT 2: seems now it could actually be software... I'm very confused

I really hope it does solve it. QC issues had me return 2 XPS’s, hopes a mbp would be fine but I’m slightly hesitant to purchase one after keeping up with this thread, still have till ~5 September, so you think it’ll be fixed by then?

That’s about two weeks away. I’m leaning towards it being fixed by then based on the progress in newest firmware.

Isn’t fixed where? HS or Mojave?

As suspected my new laptop has the same issue. Apple wants to change it again and I've refused. Cannot be arsed with this merry-go-round and churn through laptops.

I'm keeping my old, original one and sending the new replacement back.

I wonder why they are giving you new ones given that they know there's an issue that's software related (according to AppleCare).

Isn't fixed in that the tinny/buzzing noise returned as I continued playing music. I am now installing Mojave but am convinced that it is hardware related in my case.

All 3 of mine had that issue. I'd say it's safe to say that it happens to all of them.

I installed a latency check tool (https://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml) and everything is in the yellow, for the mostpart. The tool seems to think there shouldn't be a problem.

Nevertheless, I went through and disabled a few drivers (wifi cards etc) and it didn't reduce the latency.

Where the bar chart turns red is where the crackling started. Where it returns to yellow is where I exited CivVi.

[doublepost=1532743378][/doublepost]Well, I found the problem. And... it's an Apple driver. So not much to do about it since we need that driver for audio.

Imgur thanks very much for your research! I am not an expert. I replaced my MbookPro and found the same trouble. Would you recommend a new replacement or wait for Apple? It is very complicated the issue of the driver, is it only software, or a faulty defect in the assembly?
I appreciate very much your response
Regards
Luis Miguel

The problem is that if you want to keep HS and Apple will not come with a fix

Yes they will. Every OS comes with a few years of support.

I have now tested the latest firmware on HS and Mojave for 5 days. Not even one crackle from speakers, headphones or HDMI.

There was a little in the volume control on the first day but nothing since.

This thread is this thread. Boring regurgitation and troll posts.

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...os-suffer-from-major-graphics-issues.2019261/

still trying to keep the hysterics in check I see...tough ask it seems
anyway
referring to the link...
do you know/remember whether it was an update(fix) or a new version of macOS that solved the ''major graphics'' problem...?

When the 2016 model was released we were running Sierra and waiting for HS.

The graphics drivers were fixed with a supplementary update to Sierra and the release of High Sierra.

There were very minor glitches in the boot screen that were fixed with 10.13.1

On HS still happening here, so for me, being cynical made me richer ...for me Apple did not made any official statement .
So, all the users should rely on your words without any facts? This is a real question...people on HS, still having these issues. I suggest to return their macs...because in 1 month the 2018 models are not going anywhere and they can buy them again then
The MBP 2018 should come from the start with Mojave
Plz, if you can, and want, on Mojave, make a video playing itunes Radio, and mute/unmute severel times and post it here

no one has to trust or rely on anyone else
people here just sharing their experience/previous experience/ knowledge/ beta testing results etc
it helps hearing from those who may have first hand access/ testing experience with beta software especially for those of us trying to sift through the messy 30page discussion this has become to actually hear from such people
aaah whatever lets hit 32 pages and beat the 31 page glitch discussion/regurgitation

again thanks to beta testers sharing their experience/results regarding crackling speakers

don't have that issue
never have had it
have seen it occur on a colleagues

ive had crackling speakers at 44 100 once on this machine
and yeah audio can be bit buggy here and there with playback controls
since changing to 48 000 no crackling

the issue is varied and not easily repeatable across the board it seems suggesting firmware as stated by others

so if you start itunes radio and mute/unmute by pressing the button from touchbar 4-5 times in a row, you don't hear a high pitch sound?
