Wouldn't be surprised if HS supplemental update doesn't come out till Mojave release so that components are kept in sync.
I really hope it does solve it. QC issues had me return 2 XPS’s, hopes a mbp would be fine but I’m slightly hesitant to purchase one after keeping up with this thread, still have till ~5 September, so you think it’ll be fixed by then?
Just experienced tinny and thin sound that rattled at the top end almost like the speaker was broken, but just from the right (confirmed by adjusting balance in sound settings). At first it sounded like my speaker was surely broken, but thankfully an SMC reset (holding down power button for ten seconds method) appears to have fixed it.
For me the most worrying thing in this is that the way the speaker was playing would have eventually caused physical damage, as it was emphasising the high frequencies so much the sound was ringing (and painful!). I really hope a software fix comes soon.
EDIT: subsequent testing reveals this problem isn't actually fixed and that sadly it must be hardware related. Off to Apple I go...
As suspected my new laptop has the same issue. Apple wants to change it again and I've refused. Cannot be arsed with this merry-go-round and churn through laptops.
I'm keeping my old, original one and sending the new replacement back.
Isn't fixed in that the tinny/buzzing noise returned as I continued playing music. I am now installing Mojave but am convinced that it is hardware related in my case.Isn’t fixed where? HS or Mojave?

Imgur thanks very much for your research! I am not an expert. I replaced my MbookPro and found the same trouble. Would you recommend a new replacement or wait for Apple? It is very complicated the issue of the driver, is it only software, or a faulty defect in the assembly?I installed a latency check tool (https://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml) and everything is in the yellow, for the mostpart. The tool seems to think there shouldn't be a problem.
Nevertheless, I went through and disabled a few drivers (wifi cards etc) and it didn't reduce the latency.
Where the bar chart turns red is where the crackling started. Where it returns to yellow is where I exited CivVi.

[doublepost=1532743378][/doublepost]Well, I found the problem. And... it's an Apple driver. So not much to do about it since we need that driver for audio.

The problem is that if you want to keep HS and Apple will not come with a fix
This thread is this thread. Boring regurgitation and troll posts.

Yes they will. Every OS comes with a few years of support.
I have now tested the latest firmware on HS and Mojave for 5 days. Not even one crackle from speakers, headphones or HDMI.
There was a little in the volume control on the first day but nothing since.
still trying to keep the hysterics in check I see...tough ask it seems
anyway
referring to the link...
do you know/remember whether it was an update(fix) or a new version of macOS that solved the ''major graphics'' problem...?
On HS still happening here, so for me, being cynical made me richer ...for me Apple did not made any official statement .
speakers issues ...the easies way, is to mute/unmute in itunes, and you get a high level pop noise
so if you start itunes radio and mute/unmute by pressing the button from touchbar 4-5 times in a row, you don't hear a high pitch sound?
