How difficult is the dbrand skin to apply? I'm thinking a matte black one might be a good idea to keep the top and bottom of the laptop pristine.

You need calm hands and nothing else. Just watch the tutorial videos on their homepage. you are able to reapply the skin some times if it went sloping.

If you have the 13" MBP with touchbar, you might want to check out the Inateck Surface Pro sleeve. I just received mine and it fits perfectly (for my taste).

I have an Inateck iPad sleeve and love it, so I decided to see what they had in terms of MacBook pro sleeves. First I tried this one that lists compatibility for the 2016 MBP, but it was way too big and floppy. I think they're doing what a lot of companies are doing and just relabeling their old sleeves as also being compatible with the new laptops.

Then I looked more closely at the measurements for each of their sleeves, and the Surface Pro sleeve almost perfectly matched the dimensions listed on the Apple store for my laptop. Since these are so inexpensive I decided to give it a try. It's great! I'm not a huge fan of the velcro, but this will offer style and protection that I'm very happy with until someone makes something truly perfect. You also get a nice little extra bag that will hold the power brick. Not bad for just $18!

This is really nice! How is the weight? Is it really 200g as listed on Amazon? My current sleeve is Knomo's and it is 300g so if I buy a new one it would have to be lighter.

In those pictures that sleeve looks much darker than the one on Amazon. The darker one looks better...

Any nice leather sleeves apart from the kavaj one? Havent been able to find any...

Don't forget needing the patience of a saint. Took me at least 20 minutes and I tried all different methods to try and get it perfect.

Really enjoyed reading through this thread so thanks for the suggestions! Also thanks to the people that were suggesting SF bags I ended up going with the Staad Attache briefcase and I got the keyboard express pouch and love it. I do really like the form factor of the sleeves I wanted a something a little larger to carry my things but not too wide just because with how slim the new MacBooks are it would be a shame to put them in a huge bag. This really seems to complement the laptop well.

So the main briefcase is really compact and comfortable to carry, easy to open close and I like the buckle. It's a little different so I feel like if someone was going to try and get in to take something they would probably fumble with the buckle a bit trying to figure out how to open it (not sure how much it would prevent anything but it can't hurt) but if you know how to open/close the buckle it's really easy. Fits the 15" really well and is well padded and easy to get the laptop in and out. The pockets are well organized and I can fit a fair amount in here. iPad mini can fit in the front pocket, my phone can also sit in a felt lined front pocket, the keyboard case and my water bottle (one with a screw on cap so no leaks) and the inside pockets have the charging cables, adapter (so they are easy to get to) and headphones (in ear, the over the year are a tighter fit in this case, I could probably do it if I really wanted to but it would be a tight fit width wise). Then I've got a fair amount of room above the keyboard pouch for whatever I need, I could probably get a light jacket in there, sweatshirt umbrella that sort of thing.

The keyboard travel express is pretty cool because I can get a mobile desktop setup in a pouch, keyboard, mouse, pioneer blu ray burner I could probably fit something else but right now I'm using the other sleeve for cables. I have my Hoo Too Adapter too. I like it because it's the full desktop setup if I need it all in one pouch so it's easy to get to if I need it or it stays completely out of the way and enclosed when I don't need it.

Workmanship on these are really nice, I got the waxed canvas and grizzled leather and really like it. First thing I noticed on it was the great leather smell and seem really high quality. I'll maybe try and take some pictures later too and add them but really enjoying them so far these are exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks both. I've ordered a matte black top and bottom cover for the MBP just to protect it against the little scratches and marks that can be easily picked up.

In terms of bags, I'm looking to upgrade to something that'll provide good protection to my MBP (whenever it ships) and be able to carry a couple big accessories like a large pair of headphones and/or my camera. Then the standard smaller stuff like an external drive, charging cable, other cables. It seems like the Incase Icon or the slim version might be a good fit. Anyone have experience with those or another bag that might fit the bill?

One note: I'm thinking about the slim bc I'm 5'8", so I'm not really sure how the Icon would be vs. the slim without seeing in person, or I'd just get the Icon to have the extra space.

Got my dbrand installed

OMG

I mean no disrespect but... do you actually like that? For me that's like destroying the design. The texture and color combination looks awful (Only in my opinion).

Pretty sure the trackpad cover is not recommended by Apple either as it can ruin the display. I know it says "palm rest" and not trackpad, but the new MacBooks have a <1mm recess for the trackpad, so I imagine it probably applies to that part too.

u are welcome :) pls share if you get one - I had to decide but my wife told me to buy the kavaj :)
If I get one I will definitely share my experience. However, I'm now torn between these ones and the kavaj. How do you like to kavaj one? Does it fit properly and is there sufficient padding to protect the macbook during travel?

Any updates about Incase releasing cases for new MBP? The current models that they offer in the "pro 2016" section are old models!!

I wanted to recommend the Acme Made sleeve I just got for my 13" 2016 MBP (non-TB, not that it matters, just a plug for the non-TB master race). It is very well made, fits perfectly, looks good, and is a decent price at $40 shipped (arrived within a week). Don't be alarmed when you get a package that says it's for a 12.9" iPad Pro, because it fits the new 13" MBP perfectly. Pictures below. Let me know if you have any questions!

Glad you're pleased with it, still can't recommend it enough

Thanks for the recommendation. I ordered it and received it this AM. Fits my new 13" tbMBP perfectly. The case is a little thinner than I would have liked, but usually have it inside of another bag anyway.

Had an Incase sleeve for my old MBAir which I really liked. But it is too big for the new tbMBP. Might get one when they release them made especially for the new MacBooks.

I was debating getting the Incase Icon Slim and then I found this bag and jumped on it Ebags Professional Slim Laptop Backpack. I love the idea of the hardcase for powerbrick storage and and the compartments meaning I won't need to have a bunch of cable bags stuffed into my backpack. Also, the price was right.

Have any of you used one? What has your experience been?
