Does the computer not close with the shaggymax cover alone? I just ordered one so if not, I will definitely cancel! Thank you!

I think you will be fine since it almost fully closes, but you can still push the screen down a little bit. I think my keyboard cover + shaggymax makes it too thick.

Should I just get rid of the keyboard cover? Or should I keep both and let it stay a bit open when I close it? If I do that will the pressure damage the screen??

Does this Mac have the screen issue associated with oils and stuff from the keyboard, like the old ones.

I think it's too early to tell. What I used to do was cover the keyboard with a thin microfiber cloth. Should prevent damage, while the lid can be completely closed and you'll always have a cloth nearby to wipe the screen with.

I would get rid of one of them. I don't think it will damage the screen, but there's a chance its going to cause unnecessary stress to the hinges because of the pressure point where all the extra material isn't allowing it to close fully. Both things seem like overkill anyway.

Anyone have any luck with the I-Blason case for the new Macbook Pro? It looks kind of sketchy but there don't appear to be many option...

Also if anyone has any sleeve or keyboard protector recommendations, let me know.

I purchased the Shaggymax keyboard cover to protect the screen when I close the laptop. However, the screen doesn't close all the way. Any other solutions? I have a silicone keyboard cover and the best skin ever on my trackpad and palm area so I don't want to have any screen damage.

Is it bad that it fails to close all the way? Will the damage anything...

I preordered a screen saver that covers the keyboard from Radtech. They originally designed it to be like the ones they make for other MacBook Pro models, covering the entire keyboard and touchpad area. After they tested it out on 2016 MBP models they realized that size would not work - the lid wouldn't close - so they downsized the keyboard cover/screen saver to only cover the keyboard and lowered the price accordingly. They kept us preorder folks informed along the way too, which I appreciated. Anyhow, you may want to consider one of theirs.

Here is a link. Select the 13" or 15" 2016 model on the right to see the smaller sized cover/protector:

Just FYI, this link shows the other items Radtech has for MBPs, such as sleeves, cases, etc. (and I am in no way affiliated with these guys!)

My 2016 15" Macbook Pro just shipped so I'm not able to confirm this...

Those that purchased the Pack & Smooch Hampshire...does it fit the new 15" Macbook Pro perfectly?

Thanks...

I bought the Incase Diamond Wire Slim Sleeve for my 2016 MBP without Touch Bar (https://www.incase.com/shop/macbook-sleeves/incase-diamond-wire-slim-sleeve-for-mbr13/).

The sleeve fits perfect in my opinion and if I didn't know it wasn't specifically for the late 2016 model I would never question it. Minimal to no wiggle room or sliding around in the sleeve. Here are some pics:

This is a picture with an older model retina MBP in the sleeve. You can get an idea of what it's supposed to fit like in comparison to how the newer model fits.

Very impressed with the quality of this case. Very soft material inside, adequately padded, zipper is really high quality and the outside feels like a latex/faux leather that allow you to clean it easily if you get liquid on the case--an important factor for me. I was able to get it for $20 on Amazon Canada, and it goes for just $15 on Amazon.com.

It's designed for the 11" Air so it provides a really snug fit, perfect fit IMO. Exterior dimensions of the case are 13.25" x 9.125" x 0.75" so you can tell it's definitely snug. For what it's worth I can close it effortlessly, just a very slight pull is required to make sure the inside zipper guard stretches around the Macbook before closing.

Highly Recommend!

I will probably get rid of the keyboard cover, don't really like a feel. Maybe will just keep it on while I travel but take it off while I am at home. Will leave the shadymax cloth

I have the ibenzer cover and I really like it: http://amzn.to/2gR8oS9, much better than the spec one I had on my 17 inch. I got the black one.

1) Backpack
2) Sleeve
3) Keyboard Cover
4) Screen Protector Cloth
5) Hard Case
6) BestSkinEver Full Body
7) Dongles...Dongles...Dongles

Let me know what they respond!

Yeah, really like it too, it's some kind of kevlar-like structure on the outside, while its flexability is like a thin polycarbonate-suitcase.

Hard to describe, but saved my Macs' a few times for sure.
Here's the mail I got from Thule

Hi Eddie,

I confirmed with a real device that the new MacBook Pro fits quite well in the Gauntlet 3.0 zippered sleeve. It would fit in the MacBook Air envelope but be a bit loose.

Hm, I was hoping for some new, fitted ones. I got the Gauntlet (1.0?!, don't really know) and it's a perfect fit for my 2011 15", i'm switching to 13", so I can't take a picture of the fitting for you.
It's definetly no stretch material so there will likely be a little more room than needed...

Easiest way would be to go to an Apple Store (Hamburg always got the Thule sleeves) and try it out on their display models...
Maybe... Anyone?! :D

Yep, I posted about it here:
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...cases-for-the-new-mbps.2021701/#post-24068941

Touching it after putting shea butter on my hands in the morning does make it more... transparent vs foggy looking.
To give it a consistent look I'd need to rub shea butter over the case ;-).

But all in all I like it.

I recently purchased the Oct 2916 release, 13" MBP A1706, and I'm wondering if a decent case is made for these? My 2011 MBP had a hard plastic shell case which the bottom piece protected the back of the computer. It wrapped around the back. I just purchased a Mosiso case, and besides being defective (the bottom would not snap on), it was designed so it offered zero protection on the back. Granted these type cases are designed to prevent dings an scratches, not real protection for being dropped.

So for a hard cover plastic case I'm looking for one which protects the back, wraps around the back. I'd also consider a hard core protective case like Urban Armor if I can find one that does not look wretched. The model below besides costing $80 (which I'd pay for perfection) is reported to cover ports when closed. Any suggestions?

Urban Armor Gear- Anyine like this?
This heavy duty i-Blason case looks interesting, but, I'm not sure I want a clear top, if that's what it has. This is an example of a shell case where the rear corners have some protection.

OMG, looks like i-Blason shipped my case from GA yesterday! I'll let you guys know how it looks.

Some others that look very similar are up on Amazon, mostly shipping later in the month.

Hello all. I bought the Pack & Smooch sleeve for my new 13" and I absolutely love the style of it. Can anyone recommend a rucksack in the same ethos as the sleeve? i.e. something that has the same sort of style (maybe leather parts but with grey or something), but is also quite practical? I know that's quite specific but wondered if anyone knows of anything!

Thanks

I got the Mosiso case today. It's transparent and, as you say, it doesn't wrap completely around the laptop. But it's exactly what I was looking for — it'll guard against scratches and scuffs but it doesn't hide the computer. The one I got fit well and snapped on easily.

The only weird part is that it came with an adhesive plastic sheet that I assume is a screen protector (though it's labeled an "upper lens protector," whatever that is), as well as a translucent plastic cover for the keyboard, neither of which I'm interested in.

Has anyone tried the pelican case? I travel a lot for work and I need something water and shock proof.

I know the design is not that great but it's the only case I came across so far that look like an army gear type of case

Right now i-Blason is the case I'll be purchasing, but as you said, they are all out of stock until the end of Dec. Is this the one you ordered? It look like it does wrap around the back. Looking forward to your report.

Did the bottom snap on properly?
I'm curious how many snap points does the bottom part of your case have, any besides the ones on the front?

What I saw on my case I'm returning is the bottom piece only had two latches on the front that would not snap on to the computer and no others that I can see. And since the bottom piece does not wrap around the back of the computer, I could easily pull it down and off the computer from the back.

This is what I'm returning. There are at least 3 reviews for that model that discuss fit problems.

32nd does make a 13" sleeve. And if you are buying something else you can get this Amazon basic sleeve for $7 as an add on. Most likely, I'll get a sleeve in addition to as case with handles like this.

I think that mine is the clear version of this case. The bottom piece has four snaps: two on the front and two on the back. The case I had for my MacBook Air also had snaps on the side. This doesn't, but it fits well and has stayed in place so far.

Per Incase' recommendation for the new tMBP13, got a classic sleeve for the 12" iPad Pro at a good price from Amazon. Couldn't wait any longer as needing it for a trip soon. It is still a somewhat loose fit -- perhaps the slim sleeve is better.

My 2016 15" Macbook Pro just shipped so I'm not able to confirm this...

Those that purchased the Pack & Smooch Hampshire...does it fit the new 15" Macbook Pro perfectly?

Thanks...

I love my Pack & Smooch. It fits perfectly on my 15" mbp.

How long did you pack-smooch take to arrive? I ordered three weeks ago and still haven't received it. Website shows shipped the day after I ordered, but the tracking does not appear. Will email if I don't have any update tomorrow.
