Anyone know of a clear skin wrap that is NOT wet install like BSE? A dry clear skin is what I am looking for. Thanks.

Finally got the right size wrap/skin for the MBP from dbrand, a matte black top and bottom. My jobs mean the laptop gets used in a lot of different locations, both inside and outside, so I just wanted some sort of protection from those little scratches and marks you can pick up over time as I think they'll show up even more on space grey compared to the traditional sliver.

I kind of wish I had the balls to just let it get beaten up and weathered as I also have a funny feeling that would be a great look, especially if I wasn't concerned about resale value.

Hows this holding up to you?

Good and bad....

Good is that it does exactly what I had hoped - it protects the outside against minor and more major scratches that you can get when using the laptop in a variety of locations inside & outdoors. Its great to just put the laptop down wherever I'm working without having to worry about what's on the surface I'm using.

Bad is that it gets a bit grubby, which is strange to say about something which is black, but its particularly bad at storing greasy fingerprints & some very random marks which I have no idea what's made them. The greasy ones could just be caused by oil from fingers which obviously affects keyboards over time.

I've actually swapped it for a much less subtle and less matte red skin which is holding up much better.

Much prefer this to a hard case - I get some protection while no increase in bulk and its still in an incase sleeve when I'm on the move.

Any pics of the black one after some use? Also where did you get the red skin from? Thanks!

Just got the Thule Gauntlet sleeve for my 13 inch MBP and while it's very sturdy, the laptop moves around inside a little bit :( any ideas for how to make it fit more snugly so that it doesn't get banged up inside?

How many here keep their MBP in a shell/case such as this one?

Is there one brand better than the other?
Hard plastic finish or the more "rubber/gummy" texture?

Thinking of getting one.
Sorry if it's been asked before.

Black sock with some material stuffed inside?

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive hard shell for a 15 inch MBP Touch Bar? Whats the UESWill one like? Well reviewed on Amazon.

Bought this one the other day and fitted it yesterday:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N0DODHZ/ref=twister_B07BZK9L8K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Works very well; all I wanted was simple protection for my 15" MBP whilst it's on my desktop stand and it fits perfectly and looks well IMO

For £15; don't think you can go far wrong :)

I had one for my 2012 MBP and I noticed dust/grit getting trapped inbetween the shell and the laptop - I was not impressed. I opted for a dbrand skin for my 2018 MBP and so far I'm pleased with it

Yeah that's not surprising actually, as my black rubbery iPhone SE case does the same.
You can see the dirt on the back where the hole is for the camera lens, and underneath between the phone speakers + headphone output and case.

On the one hand, I like the idea of these shells protecting the MBP's outer case, but if it's going to do more harm to the silver finish once you remove the shell some months - or years later - then I'd rather not put anything on it at all.

Does someone knows what is happening with incase. I am looking forward to buy their macbook pro (usb c ) ICON sleeve and all of the models are out of stock for months now... Are there any other alternatives to the icon sleeve ?

Where are you looking? They supply Apple stores.

Despite very careful use, mine keep cracking. That said, InCase keeps replacing them.

Aluminum and zippers don’t match. But the best class sleeves are on sfbags.com. Made in San Francisco

I'm sorry but what do you mean by they don't match? I was hoping I can get something like this that opens up all the way

I meant that zippers will mark up the aluminum eventually. That’s why the high end products use magnetic closure. But suit yourself.

oh I see. I didn't know that! thanks for the information!! but I thought magnets are not good to be around the laptop since it can mess up whatever is inside it?

I've been using a Booq zippered sleeve for many years and have no scratches. The sleeve has a coated zipper and internal neoprene flaps that prevent the zipper from contacting the aluminum when closed.

I don't know why you are saying this. Have you personally had a bad experience with a sleeve with a zipper?
I have Tomtec 360 sleeve and the zipper gets no where near the MBP. It has padded edges where the zipper is so there is no chance it will scratch my MBP.

I have had a bad experience with a no name brand from Amazon. I should not say all zipper sleeves are going to cause a problem but for me I will not enclose my device with in millimeters from a harder object then the aluminum I am carrying.
