So Night Shift shows up in Display preferences for my old 23" cinema display on my hackintosh but not the 20" display on my 7,1 iMac. So its not related to retina displays. hmmm...... more digging
BummerProbably the requirement is the same as on iOS, only GPUs that support Metal.
So how do we go about enabling it thenProbably the requirement is the same as on iOS, only GPUs that support Metal.
I think next I'll try to spoof it with clover to think it's a newer iMac and see how that goesProbably the requirement is the same as on iOS, only GPUs that support Metal.

At this point I have my 7,1 iMac spoofed to think it is a 10.1 iMac and it now recognizes my T9300 properly. still no night shift but this is a big jump. Please keep us posted.
This is due to some weird glitch with the Sierra Installer where the Disk Utility window doesn't become active for some reason. You'll just need to keep rebooting and trying again, and eventually it works. If possible, use the Utilities menu in the Menu Bar to open it, that seems to help a bit.Hey guys. I need a little help with this installation. I followed the steps on this tutorial http://dosdude1.com/sierrapatch.html and patches fine and all that. The problem starts when I want to erase my current internal disk. I can't select it in Disk Utility tool when booting from usb. Any ideas? I got a Macbook Pro mid 2009 so it should be a fit for this upgrade.
Thanks for all the help![]()
I click on the disk utility box with the mouse and then use the arrow keys on the keyboard to navigate through all the menus. This is due to some weird glitch with the Sierra Installer where the Disk Utility window doesn't become active for some reason. Did you boot back into your USB and run the post install?Thank you both. It worked, but now it's a problem with booting in system after clean install and macbook restart. I followed all the steps to format as MacOS Extended and GUID partition, but now after installation and restart only powers up and doesn't find system and do a shutdown. Confused.
EDIT. It worked.
Back in business!!

Yes. You need to re download the Install macOS Sierra.appHi everybody! When trying to create a bootable USB drive using dosdude1 Patch, I get this prompt. Then I click yes and the app shuts down. Did anyone have the same problem? Any possible solution? Thanks
Thanks nandor690. I'll delete the Sierra installer and download it again as you suggest. Did you download the installer that is available at Dosdude1 Sierra Patch web page or did you get it elsewhere?Yes. You need to re download the Install macOS Sierra.app
