Has anyone else had apps lose their preferences? Some apps like NetNewsWire (still using version 3) lose toolbar settings and want me to re-register. I've already wiped preferences with defaults in the command line and re-set everything the way I want, then suddenly one launch: everything lost.

TextWrangler also lost documents it had been dutifully restoring since 10.12 that I never bothered to save.
Well glad I'm not the only one with that problem, I kept losing my preferences in XLD which is a program I use a lot for audio encoding, and since there's a ton of different settings for each encoder it's a royal PITA to go through it all again. That seems to be the only instance though for some reason, everything else has been fine.

You are not alone...

Since upgrading to High Sierra, my V.TOP Driver Free Video Grabber, which sends standard def video and audio over USB which you can record with Quicktime Player (or anything compatible) refuses to work. The video is fine, but the audio keeps breaking up, like something is interfering with the USB signal. Are there any known USB Audio issues with High Sierra?

When I boot from my Sierra system, on both my Macs, the device functions as before.

I a similar issue. I have the 27" HP ENVY and connecting over USB-C my external monitor is no longer recognized at all. The USB-C cable charges the MacBook of course, and the monitor detects that there is a device connected, but there is no signal from the MBP to the monitor, and it just immediately goes to sleep.
I never had any issues connecting my 15" MacBook Pro (2016) to my external display before. Now I got my laptop replaced because of defects, and received a 2017 unit which either had High Sierra on it, or I updated it further ... I cannot even remember.

However, now my external display also simply is not being recognized anymore. When I plug it in using USB-C to a DisplayPort adapter (which I know for sure works), nothing happens at all. The external monitor (a Ultra HD Philips 288P, by the way) cannot find any signal and just goes to sleep. Damn. :(

Messages on Mac and iPhone/iPad have not been syncing properly since update. I updated on the day of the release and since then it takes Mac Messages about 15-30 mins to receive messages from iPhone. It's the same for everyone I know where I live. Looks like a syncing or iCloud issue. Also Photos are not moving from iPhone to iMac straight away with photostream. Looks like a similar issue. Since both iMac and iPhone systems were updated difficult to know where the bug lies.

Hi guys,

I have an extremely annoying problem at the moment and it started the day I installed High Sierra. I installed on launch day and have kept it up to date.

Basically, at least three time a day my computer will reboot itself closing all my applications and restart. When it comes back to life there is a "sleep wake failure" error message. Is anyone else exerienceing this issue? Is there a fix?

It has to be a High Sierra issue as it was never a problem before hand.

I'm running a iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012).
I don't get an error message but after sleep there is a pause with a black screen until I finally get the login screen

bluetooth speakers have to connect manually. in the past no such problem. any solution to this

High CPU for any random multiple apps running (e.g. Dropbox sync, Pushbullet launch/sync, homebrew git prune && git gc, iCloud sync, etc) causes kernel panic and crash and OSX High Sierra asks to hit any key to reboot.

Happens multiple times.

Has to be cautious to not launched more apps than I typically use and try to only have 2 or 3 simultaneous running. Else, I can get up to 7 or 9 kernel panics daily.

Have sent in to local QCD Technologies (Singapore), for a full disk format, OSX High Sierra reinstall + Time Machine restore, and still this happens!!!

has anyone had lag in notes? i've had text disappear as i'm typing around it, and also text does not immediately disappear when backspacing over it.

Mac takes ages to Wake up from sleep while charging...any fix? I did a clean install with no luck.

Well, I just discovered my AirPods don't work with my Mac anymore... WTF. I won't be downgrading to Sierra again just because of this but this IS a total bummer. My Mac shows them as being connected but nothing plays. When I try to play a song or video, it does not play or it freezes, then switches back to internal speakers...
This is the exact issue I'm having with my AirPods as well. Worked perfectly with Sierra. High Sierra, all it does is freeze and IF I get it connected, it sounds tinny. I hope there's a fix soon, though happy to know that this is not how AirPods normally work. I got them because of the ease of switching.

The issue is fixed with iOS 11.0.1. It was fixed for a lot of people. If it's still.not fixed for ya... Sorry. Try some basic troubleshooting. Then contact Apple.

i'm getting random freezing. cursor still moves but system is completely unresponsive. Cant do anything and requires hard reboot.

2012 macbook pro 2.6i7 8gb 512ssd.

anything that can be done?

I have this issue on my mid-2011 13" MBA.

The bugs have become so annoying now that I've had to put aside my Mac, this has been like the buggiest macOS release so far in my experience.

Because of the above, I actually rolled back to Sierra. Thankfully I hadn't run another TM backup since doing the HS Upgrade, so I easily just dropped in the Sierra USB installer, clean installed Sierra, and restored the TM backup. Was back to Sierra in less than 2 hours.

Going to wait until they fix the freezing issue first and foremost. They put out iTunes 12.6.3, so that keeps me running for a while, especially when they fix the HS issues.

BL.

The problem is more with My Mac and High Sierra. It won’t connect after multiple tries. If it does, the sound is bad. Only one in 10 times does it work. Worked well before I updated.

I have had several bugs and issues.
  • Failed first install (black screen after restart during update). Had to restore from TM and the second time it worked correctly.
  • Mismatched dmg names after mounting.
  • Constant hang ups on login, logout and switching user.
  • Shamefully lengthy boot up times.
  • Graphical artifacts when shutting down.
  • Recently strange SMB issues.
All of this at no real benefits for me. The only thing I was looking forward to were Messages in iCloud which have not yet launched.
I think I'll roll back to 10.12.6 this evening. Sierra has been issue-free for me since day 1.

I contacted Apple Care about it, after I bought 3 other cables, they sent me the USBC Digital AV cable, and by connecting to HDMI it works through that cable. But only at 30Hz, so if that is an option for you try it out.

Well at least you got a "solution" for the time being. It is better than nothing at all.

Problem I have is that I used one of those third-party USB-C to DisplayPort adapters, and not an official Apple product. It worked fine before though, and I even have two of them so I know they are not faulty on their own.

I tried looking for this USB-C to Digital AV cable from Apple. It is € 79 where I live. That is ridiculous. Before I updated (or well, received a 2017 unit of my device), the external monitor could be recognized without any issues.

I tried resetting my OS to the one my MacBook Pro had on it when I received it, but it turned out to be that it was already on High Sierra, so that was useless.

Anyone know if the 10.13.1 beta fixes the problem with extremely slow OpenGL/Metal performance (especially with dgpu) after waking from sleep?

Does it still take an eternity when trying to open movies from an NAS? And is the verifying bug gone yet?
