You should be booting from the Mojave patch install drive and select your computer from the drop down. it will determine if your machine needs the legacy patch or not and it will apply all the current necessary patches. In most cases the suggested options are the way to go.

up and running on my MacBook Pro 5,4 so if there is anything I can do to help anyone...please let me know! BIG thanks to @dosdude1 and everyone else involved in this project!!!
Tried as you had described, panics, Verbose (it boots itself out of Verbose) and SUM, nothing unusual, fsck -fy, /sbin/fsck -fy, "ok", gets about halfway thru progress bar and kp, reboots, rinse & repeat, guess I'll wait for later beta or fall release of Mojave. Thanks again to dosdude1 for all the work he and others have put into this project.

2nd install to SSD dropped from 38 to 16 minutes, both of which were "clean" installs, formatted to APFS. Have not tried HFS.

Hey guys,

I found a great alternative for clamshell mode not working. It is called DisableMonitor and it works with Mojave. And it not only allows you to disable the laptop or external display, it's also an awesome screen resolution switcher which Apple has left missing for quite sometime.

Did the patcher utility work for you? For the backlight and trackpad patch?
Thanks in advance

The patcher worked splendidly for me in terms of installation. The trackpad works in rudimentary fashion, and brightness control is flakey. (I use Brightness Slider from the app store to compensate). What does not work is the camera.

There is a fix posted recently in this thread. You need IOUSBFamily.kext from 10.13.5/6

What system are runnng it on and which beta?

Trackpad here both internal and external are running fine on MBP5,5. Just my Xarcade stick and external BT keyboard goes to sleep, to fix it, I just turn my display off and on for that which has a USB hub.

Did you not install the other patches? You only installed the video patches. The reboot is probably caused by the telemetry plugin and it needs the high sierra one or its executable that’s inside it.

I partitioned my drive (added a Mojave volume) on my MacBook Pro 6,2. Installed and then ran the post install patcher after rebooting. Still boots into the prohibited sign. Am I missing something?

I installed the option [macbook 8.2] that already comes some options marked by defaut so that this option legacy video card and that is doing the machine to restart

Amazing progress dosdude1! So glad to see that there is at least a chance that my older Penryn machines might not get left behind in the final version. I still have three Penryn machines and a Sandy Bridge machine kicking around in my family, including this 2009 MacBook Pro being my current backup machine and the only one not able to run 10.12+.

I will say, an SSD and 8GB of RAM is almost certainly required for these older machines. It's struggling around the edges but it overall surprisingly stable.

Sounds like you need to disable your AMD GPU.

  • Pre-Metal AMD video cards (Radeon HD 6xxx series and older): Drivers will load, but full acceleration will not be achieved. in beta 3 the drivers don't even load anymore

Yes, the sound is good. Turn off the amd and just take out the thunderbolt cable? external monitor
[doublepost=1531445262][/doublepost]I leave the options of the patch marked that comes by default so that this option legacy video card and that is turning off the machine if I do not select this option the machine enters the system normally but enters without acceleration graphics

MP3,1 with GTX 680 GPU and post-install update patch applied updated with no problems from g to h versions of beta 3. Hardly worth doing b/c only fixes Feedback Assistant crashes and I doubt any of us with unsupported machines are supplying Apple with feedback.
Revise that: I lost optical audio with the beta 3 h upgrade

I tried the beta 3 on the internet torrent I did not find it
There's not a Public Beta 3 yet:

Developer Preview 1 = 18A293u
Developer Preview 2 = Public Beta 1 = 18A314k
Developer Preview 3 = Public Beta 2 = 18A326g
Reissued Developer Beta 3 = reissued Public Beta 2 = 18A326h (Feedback app corrected)

just do not understand why my Intel HD 3000 graphics card does not accelerate even by applying the patch

Beware when using that it can corrupt your display and Thunderbolt port

My unsupported Mac Book Pro's don't have thunderbolt (5,5) and the one I am using it with the display is smashed. And the external display is an ancient 21" Dell 2100FP. Risk is low.

But thanks for pointing out what the risks may be for others.
[doublepost=1531448219][/doublepost]I have Mojave on Mac Pro 3,1 with Full graphics acceleration with Nvidia 8800GT 512MB card and latest Dosdude1 video patch. I am on Developer beta 3 with Safari 12.0 and Quicklook is fully operational. Shell screensaver is smooth.

This weekend, I am going to re-route some power on the Mobo to support both the GeForce Nvidia 8800GT Video card along with the Titan X Maxwell card. That way I don't have to swap power cables or video cards for legacy stuff.

Whoops. Rewinding.

Ok.. found your fix in the thread. I'll try it on the MBP 5,5

thanks.

"As well as replacing IOUSBHostFamily.kext, you need to also replace IOUSBFamily.kext."

BTW, I thought clamshell mode was working after sleep. Just the backlight stays off but it does output to the MBP display in clamshell mode. Not a huge deal and its better than not work at all, meaning losing both displays in clamshell. Will see what happens to clamshell mode after the cam is back.
Clamshell mode is messed up because my vslgestalt doesn't actually do anything (in ndrvshim)

I don't remember the place I found I found it but the Apple TV 4th generation Aerial screen looks really nice

Tried the post-install patch again on the beta3h upgrade and the optical and line audio are still MIA. The beta 3g did not have this problem. Not a deal breaker b/c I can use USB audio. I suppose a kext is missing.
