I'm currently downloading Mojave from the App Store

Screen Shot 2018-09-24 at 11.27.03 AM.png

I am still on the developer's beta program. I got a couple of questions.
  1. What folder does the install file get downloaded to?
  2. Since I have an un-supported MBP, do you guys think I should wait for @dosdude1's Mojave Patcher | Tools | Download to do the necessary install and post install steps?
Thanks.

I dled the full installer onto a supported machine where it went into applications. Using the Mojave Patcher from 13 September failed to build a USB installer with message hdutil resource is busy. Moving a copy to the desktop solved the problem. BTW, the new installer for 18A391 is still 14.0.21 NOT 14.0.22.

I crashed and burned. Tried to install over existing Mojave, got to the last minute screen went gray and wouldn't boot after patch. Starting from scratch no.

The copy of the installer I downloaded shows it as 14.0.22

I tried the same thing got error copying it over gave up and did it the original way.

It fails because there are more than 30.000 files to copy into a macOS Installer, with a good USB drive you can, but the USB Installer even if bootable will give many read errors, it's like cloning a disk vs copying its files, cloning is faster because it reads/writes blocks while normal copying scans all the file system structure, in the case of macOS Installer it will clone also the correct files permissions in any location, and trust me it's not a simple chmod 755, is deeper than this, every subfolder content requires its own exact permission.

Hi,
Just to say I'm running Mac OS Mojave update final release (18A391) with no issue.
Go first to App Store (or even Apple.com first) then redirected to Pref. System Software update.
Hope everything works good as previous version (18A389)…

The patcher downloads a number of files, including the file DLMeta.plist with a somewhat interesting piece of code. What is that for?

I have a macbook 5,2 it runs fine on mine but I have to keep it HFS
I assume you mean it runs fine with the various graphics glitches, right?

I think I'll keep my MBP5,5 and MB51 on High Sierra. I'm happy with that considering there are no significant glitches and there is full support for external APFS drives (even though I have both those machines on HFS+).

Impressive to see all the progress on Mojave though.

I uploaded the latest version of the patcher app I had, and it downloaded the release version, installer 14.0.22, of Mojave for me. It does show 18A390 for me though. I uploaded it here: https://ufile.io/kxxu1

Thanks @TimothyR734 .

It did download the Install to the /Applications folder. Verified the install version from the Info.plist as 14.0.22.

Tried to use @dosdude1's mojave patcher app 1.2.0. It did verify the install file, but when preparing my 32g USB file to install, it gave me a "failure to mount" message.
I also tried to run directly the install file from the /Applications folder, and then chose my APFS Mojave boot partition/drive, it came back with a message that I couldn't install on that partition and needed a "mac journaled" which is HFS+.

Oh well, will wait for @dosdude1's latest.

Thank you.
