Nope , sorry I didn't find that comment yet
No worries, I mentioned this a long time ago. I believe @dosdude1 incorporated that into the patcher, but I'm really not 100% sure. It might be labelled as a USB fix or an iSight fix? Make sure your permissions are correct before rebuilding the prelinkedkernel/kextcache and keep backups of everything. Good luck!! It worked for me.

Can someone help me get past this

Hi there, today I got the message that I had an update, (I'm enrolled as a developer) 10.14.1 I downloaded the file 1.99 gb let the system reboot, installed the upgrade and reboot again the progress bar was at 100%, and stayed like that for about 45 minutes, so I decided to reboot again and the system would boot to full progress bar and do nothing, then I applied the patch and nothing changed, the solution was to re-install Mojave 10.14 from the usb with all the patches, guess I have to wait until someone finds out what this update is breaking.

It has already been noted that the 10.14.1 update contains boot rom updates for the supported machines. This always breaks the update process on unsupported machines. So the 10.14.1 release will likely have to be installed via the full installer.

So the 10.14.1 release will likely have to be installed via the full installer.

Do you mean each time there is a minor update with boot rom, we have to download the whole 6 GB image, and install from scratch? Is it possible install 10.14.1 over existing 10.14 using full install?

I was never on an unsupported mac before 10.14. Now it feels like I'm using Linux all over again.

I tried installing the update but got stalled out in the phase one of the boot process I wonder if you can download 10.14.1 from the patcher yet :)

Yes but that doesn't clone my operating Mojave drive to my SSD.
Use carbon copy cloner

If you are good at the command line there is ditto and rsync

You can also make disk images with Carbon copy cloner and restore them with either CCC or disk utility.

eGPU via Thunderbolt might be an answer.
I read up on eGPU specs and all of the TB3 ones are x4. Is that x4 at PCIe 3.0 speeds or 2.0 speeds cuz it seems much smaller than x16 lanes or am I missing something?

Looks like it can't unmount the external drive that you're making the boot disk on. Something's trying to use it, which prevents it from unmounting. A reboot will almost certainly solve this.
You the man

Typically you won't ever see the full installers for the point releases until they are out and Apple has to update the posted full installer.

Usually, you won't see that many boot rom updates during the lifespan of a given OS release. However it does mean that you have to avoid the Combo software update installers since those will always have any boot rom updates added post the original OS release. However, if you update your full installer to the point release with the boot rom updates or beyond it, the future delta system updates (assuming no further boot rom changes) should apply cleanly.

Dosdude1's full installer over any install will install faster than Apple's method of even .1 update. That said 10.14.1 is a developer seed and is not final, if you are on the official final release of 10.14, wait for the official release of 10.14.1.

On top of that Dosdude1 usually makes it possible to installer smaller updates throughout the life of the unsupported Mac. He was able to do this with High Sierra. It's gonna be how strict Apple is on updates. Now updates can also be installed via the command line via the packages and that may be an option. I'm personally happy with doing full installs. Each one takes like 16 minutes or less. Do a full install on a supported Mac, its 45 minutes easy. And point updates probably take at least 15-30 minutes. You can install a full installer on top of another and dosdude1's method will always be faster.

10.14 release is super solid. I would not worry about updates. If it runs good, wait for the next updates to run their natural course.

It is also wise to keep copies of each 10.14.x installer. You never know when you might not have access to one. I keep all my installers on a large hard drive. If Apple every decides to take down an update or installer, I'm not cutoff.

I work with a guy who rarely installs OS updates. He is still on 10.12, and he rarely has issues.

Thanks Starplayr, it makes sense, I did try the update because I don't have anything worth in my system so if it crashes I just re-install the installer created with Dosdude1 usb stick.

Yes, remove your beta program profile in the store settings. Reboot. Done
Thanks but I am not seeing where I would do that. When I go into the app store I see the new store format with the categories on the left and the apps on the right but no where that I can get into app store settings. When I click on app store preferences there is nothing about the beta profile. Also there is no App Store icon in System Preferences, just in the dock. I'm looking all over but am just not seeing where I can delete the beta profile.

I had seen it somewhere here but I can not locate it, a solution for Safari in the dark mode, leaving the black background on every page, I believe it was an extension...

I found: Dark Mode on Safari

I picked up a used 2GB GTX 680 card on eBay for $150. Any tips on flashing it for Mac EFI are welcome. I have 1 Mac running Windows 10 natively, no boot camp, that I should be able to flash it on. It has a AMD card that works great in Windows on the 3,1. :)

Try this. Go to the Apple Menu. Select App Store. Search for Mojave. Click Get. Then it should search for Mojave and active the downloader in System Preferences. Then you can use the Installer found in /Applications/Install macOS Mojave and copy that to another drive or desktop and link that to the Dosdude1 patcher. Make a new patch disk. done. This is assuming you are on an earlier version of Mojave (pre-release).

To remove beta profile go to System Preferences>Software Update, then on the lower left after it runs you will see in Blue details. click that and you get the removal option.

Very confused about something. Currently on the GM, not the final release. Went to the app store, searched Mojave, clicked Get, downloaded the installer from system update. However, it seems to be downloading "Install macOS Mojave Beta" Installer 14.0.21, not "Install macOS Mojave" Installer 14.0.22. The first time, I downloaded it and saw this, then deleted all my installers out of my applications folder to see if that was affecting it. However, after running it 2 more times, its still downloading the beta and not the public version. Am I doing something wrong? To be clear, this is downloading from the app store, not from the mojave patcher.
