Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro 13" Late 2011 A1278 Macbook Model - 8,1
Intel HD 3000
10GB RAM
375GB Empty Partition

-I downloaded the mojave Patcher, and used it to download the mojave OS image.
-I verified the installer and used the patcher to make a USB drive as per the directions.
-At 16 min mark in the beginning of the installation , the installer says "mac OS X could not be installed on this computer...." etc

Is there a solution to bypass this ?

Thank you for your help in advance.

iMac 11.3. First updated from the previous version-got such problems as in the video. Then put on a pure SSD-the problem remained the same. Wrong colors, very slow work. What is it?

Just a quick report of success with the Patcher. Some details:
  • Installed on an external Firewire drive connected to a late-2009 27" Core i5 iMac, formatted with HFS+ (ie. not APFS).
  • Patch process tried to boot from the Mojave drive before doing the patches - ie. startup disk was set to the Mojave drive instead of my USB install stick. So, it presented a white screen with the grey stop sign. After 30 seconds or so it automatically shut down. I did a cold boot with the option key then chose the correct USB stick to startup and continue with patching (oddly, there was no startup sound).
  • Chose the default patches for an iMac 11,1.
  • iSight camera and wifi worked.
  • GUI glitches in Light Mode apparent. No visible glitches in Dark Mode.
  • Strange result for screen captures of Finder windows in Light Mode: using command-shift-4, space, LMB did not show the GUI window glitch. But using command-shift-4, click and drag DID show the glitch.
  • 10.14 seems just as fast as 10.13.6 on this old iMac.
Many thanks to dosdude1 and the team for a superb bit of work.

Feedback from me :

I made maybe a "full system patch" on my MacMini 3,1 :

- patched EFi with APFS Patcher, absolutely without any problems
(!!! The notice from first page and app about SELF CHECKING the EFI number is absolutely correct !!! For my MacMini was 3options to flash, and the right one was not the first/default listed)

- created installer media with mojave patcher, and installed macOS on custom made FusionDrive formatted to APFS

- applied postInstaller (without APFS patch, regarding to try/use the patched EFI)

- everything done without any problems or trouble !

Thank you very much for great work guys !

P.S. - just a question : im using soundflower and AULab to EQ the output sound. Both apps was installed successfully on macOS mojave 10.14. , but soundflower doesnt seems to work = there is no thru-passed sound, but Soundflower is present and can be choosed in sound configuration. Everything seems to be OK, without any errors during install, except the upper mentioned bug. Have somebody maybe the same experience ?

To @fintematic @jackluke @0403979 and any others it may concern...

I think I've fixed the laggy iSight video on my MacBook7,1 by replacing /S*/L*/F*/CoreMediaIO.framework from High Sierra. (You can even do it without a reboot, it's not a vital system component like OpenGL.) Anybody else want to try this and confirm that it's much smoother with this change? (Please make a backup of the original!)

Edit: My previous comment to give some context.

Edit 2: Nevermind. Don't do this! It actually seems to do next to nothing. My camera just behaves in a laggy fashion in low-light conditions or when the computer is under stress. Replacing this framework eliminates some errors in Console but does not significantly improve the video quality on a MacBook7,1.

Thanks for your effort, but on the same Macbook7.1, I'm still on Mojave beta 11 (GM), using that framework from HS 10.13.6 doesn't make neither turn on the "green led" upon the UVC camera, but to me iSight is working properly with stock CoreMediaIO I don't encountered any issues other people mentioned, I guess because on every update I replace all the 5 IOUSB*** from HighSierra.

I did read the first page, where I got the patcher. Thanks but not helpful.
The only links are such and as I am not a beta user I cannot see dmg of 10.14.
Well, I see (what might be) the problem. If you download the macOS Mojave patcher, you need to install it - i.e. transfer the .app to Applications folder (not essential, but..). Then run the app. If you do, BEFORE you start any operation, look at the menubar and you will see Files, Options, Tools, Windows, Help. Under Tools, you will see Download macOS Mojave... That is where it is.

So, I changed the USB to a 8gig flash drive, Removed the LAN cable and Power adapter and performed the install and it went through flawlessly.
Thank you for the tool, I'll make sure to make a donation.

PS : Any idea how to even out the corners of the windows, they have a little black pixelation going on in dark mode.

Did you replace /S*/L*/E*/IOUSBFamily.kext and rebuild kextcache as well? That was the previous step necessary for me. But we have different computers. I'm on a MacBook7,1 with the camera being
UVC Camera VendorID_1452 ProductID_34055. So, slightly different.

Correct, starting from 2011 any Mac use a FaceTime HD webcam instead of iSight video camera.

I believe it is mostly handled at a high level in AppKit (a part of Cocoa, but it's in its own framework) and at a low level by OpenGL (also a framework) and the graphics drivers for your GPU (kexts). But @pkouame and others are much more knowledgeable than I am.

I'm sure if you disassemble the HIToolBox, Appkit or whetever else you could fix them too, you already proved it earlier.

It has already been noted that the 10.14.1 update contains boot rom updates for the supported machines. This always breaks the update process on unsupported machines. So the 10.14.1 release will likely have to be installed via the full installer.

I guess the key is to exclude this FirmwareUpdate.pkg from the osinstall.mpkg , anyway I'm confident that after the 10.14.1 final release there will be delta/combo updates as it was been before.

Installed flawlessly Mojave over High Sierra as an update on a 8,1 2011 MacBook Pro. Everything works out of the box, thanks. Then I searched for the Night Shift patch on GitHub, now I've the toggle in the Notification Center, it works but Monitor Settings won't open and I can't adjust the backlight with the keyboard. Someone has found a workaround?

Did you miss this part of the instructions from the first link?

A copy of the macOS Mojave Installer App. This can be obtained from the Mac App Store using a machine that supports Mojave, or by using the built-in downloading feature of the tool. In the Menu Bar, simply select "Tools > Download macOS Mojave..."

The problem is your Radeon HD 5670.

[Excerpted from http://dosdude1.com/mojave/]

Known issues:

- Graphics anomalies: Currently, pre-metal video cards used in Mojave will produce a weird darkish grey Menu Bar and Finder sidebar when using the light theme. In the dark theme, however, these anomalies are not present.

- AMD Radeon HD 5xxx/6xxx series GPU acceleration: Currently, it is not possible to get full graphics acceleration when running Mojave on a system with a Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series GPU. This includes the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro systems (MacBookPro8,2 and 8,3). If you want to enable GPU acceleration on these machines, you'll need to disable the AMD GPU (This will work on MacBook Pro 8,2 and 8,3 systems ONLY. You CANNOT disable the AMD GPU in an iMac.) Weird colors will also be produced when running Mojave with one of these video cards installed/enabled. To disable the AMD GPU on a 2011 MacBook Pro 8,2 or 8,3, follow the guide found here.

On a few pages ago there is a solution: do it manually, follow the instructions, do not use a patch or some program to correct Night Shift, at the moment it will only work, as it changed the picture in Mojave compared to the High Sierra, so you are facing bugs.
[doublepost=1537954992][/doublepost]Did you notice that Apple News is hidden? I found a site telling you how to run, but on my Mac there were errors (do not know if because of Night Shift or some other change, or even if the application only runs on Metal), can test?

Open the terminal and type:

open -a News

To me the new dosdude1's cbpatcher NS patch has worked, I consider a patched Night Shift a right for everyone, for those who encountered signature issues on CoreBrightness or stuck on apple logo loading bar after applying the Night Shift patcher update, please try mine already patched, it will work for any of yours machines, just following these steps:

- Open Finder then GO "go to folder" or use keyboard shortcut CMD+Shift+G and copy-paste:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreBrightness.framework/Versions/A/

- Replace the one inside this subfolder with the already patched CoreBrightness I have attached
- After done simply restart your Mac and check if Night Shift is back on both Notification Center and Display's System Preferences

Note: this is a pre-patched file using the dosdude1 Night Shift cbpatcher valid for Mojave from DP4/PB3 to DP11/PB10 and maybe future next version

edit:
This Patched Night Shift file has been deeply tested and results still perfectly working even with Mojave beta 6, beta 7, beta 8, beta 9, beta 10 and beta 11 namely GM!!!

But when Mojave beta 10.14.1 will come out, please wait before using it again.

This solved for me the Night Shift issue. Works perfectly on Mojave 10.14 18A391

I installed Mojave in my macbook white 6.1 but now the fan is always at high speed, is it normal? Is there a patch to solve the gray areas in finder and submenus?

Yes, Light Mode, open terminal:

defaults write com.apple.universalaccess reduceTransparency -bool true
killall Finder
killall Spotlight

close the Terminal

* Could anyone create a script to run on Mojave boot *

If you read the macOS Mojave Patcher and Installation Guide scroll down to Things You Need it tells you that can download the Mojave Installation app if you select Tools from the Mojave Patcher app, there is an illustration.
You do not need to be a Beta tester and there is no .dmg to download.

Open the terminal and type:

open -a News

The "News" app is hidden because it is only available in the USA, UK and Australia, apple have disabled for other countries, until they of course translate it, you can launch it manually from Applications folder, create an alias, and it will work in english only. Anyway if you change your main language locale in en_US (or en_GB or en_AU) the app will be no more hidden and perfectly working.

I have the same machine, I faced the same issue initially and the solution was to reformat with APFS instead of APFS(encrypted) ,try this it should work, however facetime camera is not working for me.

I will give a try later, but consider that with my previous script you can revert easily to "dark mode" transparencies without passing through Accessibility, honestly I have preferred to avoid compile a unix binary file, infact into my script the source code is viewable from any TextEditor, I've been lazy on that even if I attempted to make it working at startup creating a plist login item: sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/mojavehld.plist
but it resulted as an alteration before the loginwindow , then I tried to modify on-the-fly this variable at lock screen: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist

But I retained that was a bit invasive for most users, so I abandoned that.

Anyway, I appreciate your attempt to make a bootable script for light mode.
