Reporting the installation of Mojave on a late 2009 11,1 27" iMac.

Everything works, including WiFi, video acceleration, Bluetooth and Dark Mode (with the well-known minor glitches).

There's a feature that is broken, though, at that it is absolutely necessary for me: Target Display Mode.
On the desk I have the iMac and a gaming PC, and I use that Mac as a monitor when I play, pressing CMD+F2.

On High Sierra it worked but with Mojave installed, the GPU tries to switch but after a couple seconds of black screen, the macOS desktop appears again. Same behavior if I hot plug the video cable of the PC instead of using the keyboard shortcut to invoke the switch.

Anyone in this thread uses that feature and is experiencing the same issue?
Do you think that it's due to the video legacy patch and it can be fixed?
If not, the only workaround that I can imagine is creating a small partition in order to keep High Sierra installed only for that use. Is it doable or that feature will be broken also on High Sierra (maybe due to the fact that the patch modified the EFI)?

Thank you for your hard work and for any help that you could give me.

A.

Good Morning/Evening!

I have 10.14 (18A391) final release installed on my mojave unsupported MacBookPro5,3.
Yesterday, I got a notice from System Preferences | Software Update that there is a Beta 1 for 10.14.1 and proceeded to download | install | reboot.

Screen Shot 2018-09-25 at 6.00.00 PM.png

After installation, I got into a reboot loop. I decided to "roll back" to the Final release 10.14 using @dosdude1's Mojave Patcher install and post install process. Now it is back to normal (rebooting is fine).

@dosdude1, I'm wondering if your 1.2.1 Mojave Patcher | Tools | Download will download the beta 1 10.14.1 one or is it still setup for final release 10.14?

Reason I want to try 10.14.1 is that I read somewhere on the web that it may have the facetime group capability back.

Mahalo (Thanks) for all your efforts and work.

I installed Mojave in my macbook white 6.1 but now the fan is always at high speed, is it normal? Is there a patch to solve the gray areas in finder and submenus?

How does it even run on plastic MacBooks? You’re better off on an older version like Mavericks, El Capitan or Sierra since the performance just can’t be good on a machine that old which wasn’t fast even when it was brand new.

@dosdude1, can I use an old hdd with sierra patched by your tool to install it on a supported machine? That machine is an iMac (12,2) and the reason I'm asking is because sierra doesn't show on mac appstore. I'd use it just to install and wouldn't apply the post install.

Guys, I have big problem, I installed a GTX 680 Mac Edition card in my Mac Pro 3.1 today, it booted up okay in High Sierra, I then put the Mojave install flash drive in and booted up again, at first it wouldn't boot and then eventually the flash drive light started to flicker as it should and I first got the grey circle with the line through and then the Apple logo and up came the install screen and I started the install, all went well until it had to reboot and I needed to boot back into the flash drive again to do post install, and nothing, I get a grey screen then the flash drive light flickers and after a minute or so the grey circle comes back with the line through it and then a few moments later the Mac shuts down, again and again I start it up and the same thing happens.

What did I do wrong guys? it all seemed as it was going well. Please help someone !!

Thanks in advance

I have a question for iMac 9,1 owners that have installed Mojave:

do the F1-F2 brightness levels work properly ?
I mean there should be 16 levels of luminosity increase/decrease, is backlight working properly with Mojave?
on my iMac 9,1 it f14-15 and yes the work

It's an issue with the drive you're using. Use a different USB drive, and try again.

Yes, you can. Just don't apply the post-install patches.

I have fixed the WiFi and APFS encryption issues in the patched installer. I performed the steps listed here on a clean and patched install of the latest version of Mojave. I performed those steps on a MacBook7,1 with all of the required patches installed. I have attached the a Google Drive link to the prelinkedkernel file in this post. Now I can use Mojave will APFS encryption. Yay! Here's the link. @dosdude1
@dosdude1 Can you please add this to the patcher?

@TimothyR734, what are my options right now? (1) wait for @dosdude1's mojave patcher to download the 10.14.1 beta 1 (2) download the full install of beta 1 and then prepare a USB boot using @dosdude1's mojave patcher app or (3) ???

I really want to test the "facetime group" capability if the speculation on the web is right.

I will rebuild prelinkedkernel with the latest build of Mojave, and include that in the patcher. I was going to do this earlier, but haven't had time.

@dosdude1, when you stated "latest build of Mojave", is it the 10.14.1 Beta 1 build? ~Mahalo Nui Loa~

After re-installing all patches from patch updater, my mbp 5.4 stucks on white screen with apple logo and full loaded progress bar.

???

Why?

I did the post install patches after the update didn't work and even tried installing the software patch from the post install updates from High Sierra so yeah I would wait until the firmware updates can be bypassed

did you accidentally install the 10.14.1 update

To @fintematic @jackluke @0403979 and any others it may concern...

I think I've fixed the laggy iSight video on my MacBook7,1 by replacing /S*/L*/F*/CoreMediaIO.framework from High Sierra. (You can even do it without a reboot, it's not a vital system component like OpenGL.) Anybody else want to try this and confirm that it's much smoother with this change? (Please make a backup of the original!)

Edit: My previous comment to give some context.

Edit 2: Nevermind. Don't do this! It actually seems to do next to nothing. My camera just behaves in a laggy fashion in low-light conditions or when the computer is under stress. Replacing this framework eliminates some errors in Console but does not significantly improve the video quality on a MacBook7,1.

Ok man, so i don't try this solution

Thanks for your effort, but on the same Macbook7.1, I'm still on Mojave beta 11 (GM), using that framework from HS 10.13.6 doesn't make neither turn on the "green led" upon the UVC camera, but to me iSight is working properly with stock CoreMediaIO I don't encountered any issues other people mentioned, I guess because on every update I replace all the 5 IOUSB*** from HighSierra.

Can you explain me how to do all of this? A small tutorial with files would be the best!
