Guys, this is my final version of Dark Mode in Mojave with a keyboard shortcut

Fixed problem change on Dark Mode to back to Light Mode (this would lose transparency in the Notification Center

I will modify post # 8354 on page 335 with the update.

all this is very chaotic, light script, dark script, back to the light mode, back to the dark mode. I do not understand what each script does yet, it's very confusing.

Not super relevant, but I noticed something neat -- some FAT binaries contain a 32-bit, 64-bit, and a 64-bit Haswell architecture. Why is this? Is this why the OS still boots on a Penryn system with only SSE4.1 (not SSE4.2)?

Yes expected, lets try one patch at once, boot from USB Mojave Installer, launch Terminal and type:
csrutil disable
nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check"
reboot

if you reach welcome screen but have no working trackpad and keyboard, then re-boot from the USB Mojave Installer, Post-Install and select only "USBOHCI support Patch" install and "Force cache rebuild".

I reached welcome screen with working trackpad, keyboard, and WiFi. But after click Agree on SLA, suddenly reboot. It similar with my post here.

So what should I do next? I haven't done USBOHCI patch.

99% you have a faulty SSD.

But this at least confirms that "Sandy Bridge" Intel Chipset can boot with stock Mojave IOUSB***.kext and stock IO80211Family.kext

It's seems to me, that most unsupported macs need an updated GPU. So, iMacs with upgraded GPU and Mac Pro's can be supported unofficially. But all of the available cards with MXM format are can't control the brightness of the iMac screen and can't show the boot screen.

I*m having exactly this problem. Brightness does not respond on my iMac and is unfortunately set very low at the moment. Movies, text and images are a bit difficult to watch.

You only need DarkMode, the rest is perfumery.

you will only know what each one actually does if they use them.

Example

DarkScript: You left LightMode, but something was not cool in DarkMode (Dock or Notification Center), you apply it; it's just a shortcut, to force the configuration of DarkMode.

LightScript: You left DarkMode, but lost the transparency of the Dock or Finder; you force it back into LightMode without moving to DarkMode

Light Mode BootStart: This is to apply the transparency of the Dock, when logging into the system.

I am only contributing to those who find it interesting, because I use it in my day-to-day life and it was the temporary solution that I found, when it is actually fixed, we will not need it any more.

You are not required to use these scripts.

Wow surprising o_O

I will buy new SSD and try to re-install.

But did you see on my first post #8356, I mentioned that I have faulty (dead) AMD GPU? Might a faulty (dead) GPU relate with this problem?

Previously I fixed GPU problem with this steps : https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/267581/gpu-problem-boot-hangs-on-grey-screen (Part.1 only), it runs flawless on High Sierra 10.13.5

I would disagree that it's the SSD. But you can always try an erase in Disk Utility and a re-install.

Sounds more like a kext/hardware problem. Maybe the GPU? Perhaps @dosdude1 can chime in.

I guess no, since it worked on your HighSierra, and simply because if you see the Welcome Screen it means one of two GPUs is working, and consider that without installing Video Patch you are using GPUs with least effort.

This time (probably first time) I'm in disagree with you, to me it's a faulty SSD.

Yes, maybe @dosdude1 can enlighten a bit more too.

There were various steps I've done to make Mojave run on my Macbook Pro 17 Early-2011 :
#1. Install Mojave > Post Install (for MacbookPro8,3) > CMD+S > NVRAM gpu-power-pref > stuck at Welcome Screen
#2. Install Mojave > Post Install (for MacbookPro8,3) > CMD+S > Follow steps here https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/267581/gpu-problem-boot-hangs-on-grey-screen (only Part.1) > never enter Welcome Screen, but "macOS needs to repair your library.." message keep showing with Mojave wallpaper behind, and cannot do anything
#3. @jackluke guide > stuck at Welcome Screen

With DarkScript if I'm in Dark Mode (DM) this changes my Mac to Light Mode, but if I'm with LG changes to DM. I don't understand.

I think I'll make a copy with Time Machine and I'll go back to High Sierra for the moment. If in the future is possible fixed completly these problems of colors and graphics, I'll install Mojave again, but for the moment only for to have dark mode I think it's not worth it.

Okay, I will update when I get a new SSD. Thank you ;)!

If you need a perfect light mode you should buy a supported mac with Metal.
I'm just trying to make it look as good as possible, and if I don't like I'll back to High Sierra. I just said that it is very strange and I can not understand how work the script. Thanks for your jobs guys.

Ok, explanation

Open Terminal, repeat each command and see the result.

DarkMode:

defaults write com.apple.universalaccess reduceTransparency -bool true
killall Spotlight
killall Finder
defaults write com.apple.universalaccess reduceTransparency -bool false
killall Dock
killall Finder
killall NotificationCenter

Light Mode:

defaults write com.apple.universalaccess reduceTransparency -bool false
killall Dock
killall NotificationCenter
killall Finder
defaults write com.apple.universalaccess reduceTransparency -bool true
killall Spotlight

I believe that only with these two scripts will you understand the mechanism.

I understand light script: reduce transparency and if my Mac is with "Light" and I execute the script, I will still be in Light.
But with Dark Script doesn't happen that, if my Mac is in "light" and I run the Dark Script this makes my Mac change from Light to Dark and vice versa I don't know why.

Hello everybody. I have an iMac 8,1 which I upgraded to 6GB RAM, SSD and a different WIFI card so I could use High Sierra. I tried to update to Mojave yesterday but it did not work. I tried today twice to install Mojave, but could not succeed. The installation always stops (or not actually really starts) and just says macOS could not be installed on this computer. I downloaded the Mojave image again and the patcher, and created a new USB installer, but that did not change anything. I have attached a picture of the errors I get. Hope anybody knows what‘s going wrong. Thanks

after replaced IOUSB**. iSight Camera worked fine! :)

only Light Mode Graphics anomalies left! \^0^/
The problem it's not only happens with Light Mode, in Dark Mode for example if you press in Photoshop "save as" when the target window appears, this it's in light mode and the sidebar is in gray and this little things are annoying.

Did you get to see the video?

There was only DarkMode on or off, just like the video.

1 - DarkMode on or off
(enters dark mode and exits dark mode)

2 - LightScript (applies reduced transparency in almost everything)
3 - DarkScript (removes transparency reduction, keeping only in Spotilight and other applications due to change in Finder)

You are using modified DarkMode (ModoEscuro), is in Portuguese, sorry I translated into English when I made the modifications.

, not DarkScript --- That must be what's causing the confusion.

Yes, that is correct, it is this behavior itself.

Every time you change between Dark Mode and Light Mode you have to close the applications that are running in order for the change to be accepted.

This is a problem that has been explained previously, and should only be corrected with the patches that the more experienced personnel are working on, it will take a while because it is not an easy task.

For those who do not have the habit of changing all the time, it is not a bother to have to close the applications, I only change once a day, so do not bother me, but each one works his way.

Hello everybody. I’ve been following this thread for the first two months. I have MacBook Pro 17 Late 2011. I stopped following the thread because I knew that there was a problem with acceleration on AMD card on these MacBooks. And I decided that I’ll not install Mojave until these problems are solved out. But as I see even after official release of the OS this problem still persists. I would like to thank everybody who took any efforts in making Mojave possible on unsupported Macs. But I just wanted to know, considering how much time passed, is the work to achieve acceleration on AMD 5xxx-6xxx videocards still in progress or should I consider my laptop obsolete and stay on High Sierra? Many thanks!

if you're ok with disabling the dGPU, you should still be able to install it
