Follow the guide on the github repo, you need to copy files, not run scripts. I have no idea what you’re doing but you’re doing it wrong.
Okay. I agree with you that I’m doing something wrong. I just don’t know what. After I copy the files into the proper directories, then what do I do? Because restarting my computer doesn’t just start letting hybrid mode work. So there is some step somewhere that I’m missing or just doing wrong and I don’t know where it is

You need to:
  1. Backup the original files.
  2. Copy the Hybrid mode files and name it as the original.
In Terminal:

For step 1 above: example for CoreUI
  • sudo cp -p CoreUI CoreUI_backup
step 2
  • sudo cp -p CoreUIHybrid-18C54-Fat-v1.4 CoreUI
Do the same steps for HIToolbox files.
Then restart for the changes to take effect.

Good luck!

So to be clear, I do delete the old files after I back them up and rename the new ones?

And how do I name the HIToolbox for flat mode since it would be the same name? My other problem is that I can’t change the name of the old original file because then my system crashes. So how can I change the name without having my system crash?

If you replaced the original files with the patched ones and restarted your mac this should do it... if you still don't see changes try to check settings maybe you enabled (reduce transparency)? (it happened to me)

Here what I did:

I downloaded Hybrid-18C54-v1.4(CoreUI and HIToolbox)...then I copied the original ones (to be safe)... then I renamed:
CoreUIHybrid-18C54-Fat-v1.4 to CoreUI
HIToolboxHybrid-18C54-Fat-v1.4 to HIToolbox
went to their directory pasted and replaced the original ones... then I restarted... and voila

don't delete just paste and replace, I tried to delete and Mac crashed, good thing I have two drives one with high Sierra so I fixed it...

For flat mode, you would need to download Flat-18C54-v1.4 and put it too in its directory (after backing up and rename it to the original one), all is shown on the Github page.

Copying the original file into a new backup file renames that file. Copying the hybrid file to the original using the filename "replaces" that file. So it is not deleted. These are basic terminal commands for file manipulations.

Also, for the HIToolbox, you have to choose between the hybrid one or flat one. You can't use both.

So when I just tried to paste it into terminal, it said “ cannot execute binary file”. So I opened the directory through finder. And which should I choose between flat mode and hybrid mode?

Got it! Thanks so much! It’s working great now! Thanks again and have a great day!

Hi, I just inherited a MacBook Air 2011, and it happens to be one that is supported for dosdude1's Mojave Patch Tool. I went ahead and followed the steps, got the 6GB installer files from the Patch Tool on the MacBook Air 2011, and created a USB installer after verification. When I booted up, I was able to choose the Mojave USB.

The issue I am having is that after I select the Mojave USB installer, it does not boot into the installer screen. It gives me the prohibited sign for some seconds, then shuts down.

I checked the FAQ at the bottom of the tutorial page, but there's no information that I can apply to fix this issue. Any help would be welcome help. Thank you.

Is that happening when you boot from the usb? Are you holding the option key when booting your Mac?

I just re-read my manual instructions and notes and I think they are pretty clear. Just in case:

To get Hybrid mode appearance in the screenshots:
  • patch HIToolbox in /S*/L*/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/Current
  • patch CoreUI in /S*/L*/PrivateFrameworks/CoreUI.framework/Versions/Current
  • Use the GM 18A391 releases for both (the only ones supported even though I have a beta in the repo)

To get Flat mode appearance in the screenshots:
  • patch HIToolbox in /S*/L*/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/Current
  • patch AppKit in /S*/L*/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/Current
  • Use the GM 18A391 releases for both (the only ones supported even though I have a beta in the repo)
Simple, I just re-tested the same procedure on my test box and It's all good. If you have issues, post a problem in the repo. Again, don't download the source archives! No need to, it's just github's way of packaging releases.

I'm not supporting 32 bit apps (for the moment) Apple is deprecating heavily. I may reconsider that if we have an overwhelming need to.
I did notice an issue with the hybrid mode patch by GitHub, and I was wondering if anyone else was having this same issue. In light mode when I select anything on the right side of the menu bar (Bluetooth, WiFi, battery%, or date/time) the icon goes white and it’s unable to see it anymore. Do you know if there is anyway to fix that or is that just the way it is? Thanks for any help you can give me. Also, the indicator for the volume, screen brightness, and backlit keyboard is still grey. Just wanted to let y’all know and try to see if anyone else is experiencing this

Yeah, after I hold the option key and choose to boot from the USB, then I get the prohibited sign before the laptop shuts off.
And you said that you haven’t yet installed Mojave? I would recommend you format the usb drive again. And reattempt to set it up as a bootable drive. And carefully do every step. All I can think is that your usb is corrupted because I have never heard of something like that happening when booting through a usb

Yeah, after I hold the option key and choose to boot from the USB, then I get the prohibited sign before the laptop shuts off.

Is your USB Patcher drive formatted as HFS+. If it's not (formatted as APFS), you need to reformat using Disk Utility to be HFS+ (Mac Journaled).

If it is formatted as HFS+, then reinstall macOS Patcher using the 1.2.3 version.

The problem may be some unknown compatibility issue with your USB flash drive. I have the same problem with a Samsung 128GB USB flash drive, but not with a SanDisk 128GB USB flash drive. I tried a bunch of different things to try to get the Samsung USB flash drive to boot from a patched Mojave installer volume, but nothing worked, including formatting the installer volume as APFS (I tried HFS+ first, of course).

Yes this is the way it is, it is stated in the GitHub page under issues section by some users, so I guess there will be a fix for it in the next releases.

If you cannot get your hands on a 700 series card, 680 or Titan, there are some cheaper cards that will run Mojave. I have run the 660 and 650. The 650 is a poor mans card and you can get one for about 50 bucks. You get what you pay for. The 680s are decent and most popular for various reasons.
If I might ask a "lazy internet question"… looking at Amazon I'm seeing GT 710 and 730 cards for around $50. I had an AMD Radeon 6450 in my (h)acintosh that I recently gave away, and I'm looking for a Mojave-compatible replacement. But I've been out of the GPU world long enough (and aware of the issue with the Nvidia drivers not getting signed by Apple), that I really don't know what's worth getting… I don't need a $100 card, I don't do gaming on that rig, just want "good enough" and no hassles. Suggestion?
(Just to add: I rip Blu-rays on this machine, so any card that provides GPU-assisted H.264 and H.265 encoding would be double-thumbs up!)

Exactly what you write, it's just the 2 files:
Flat-18C54-v1.4.zip and Hybrid-18C54-v1.4.zip must be copied to the right place.
Unfortunately, the files at the last beta2 of Mojave 10.14.3 no longer work. Let's wait and see when "SpiraMira" or "Akajishi" will do an update, so that you can see the colors without having to adjust the transparency.

Update 28.12.2018

Good News to this Thema:
New Files works in Mojave 10.14.3 beta 2 with old iMac 10,1 without Reduce Transparence !

iSight Camera Working on MBP Early 2011!

I recall after first running the Mojave installer & patch upon first boot my camera was working but audio was not.

So I ran the OSX Patcher app to reinstall the KEXT patches again and rebooted. Days later I went to use the camera and it was not working anymore.

I spent last night replacing KEXTs from a command line following instructions I found all over the internet and ended up blowing up my OS (no boot, no mouse support, etc)

So, at 1 am, I begin reinstalling Dosdude's Mojave and run the post install patches and after I reboot the camera is now working.

So here's the take away that worked for me. I just duplicated it on a second MBP Early 2011 that also had no camera support after the initial install.
  1. Install Mojave and run the post install patch from the installer screen on your second boot
  2. If there is another dosdude patch update and you run it from the bootable OS install and you loose any functions then reboot back into the original installer.
  3. Run the Post Install again
  4. Choose your computer model (mine was 2,1)
  5. Check each box of all the patches
  6. Check Force Cache rebuild
  7. Click reboot
Your mileage may vary... I'm off to the donate page. Thanks DosDude!

It's been fixed in a point release v1.4.1. Others have been using a pre-released version for a few weeks (with success). I PM'ed with some details, but will release officially this week.

EDIT: Remember, Mojave 10.14.2 support only. 10.14.3 is still in beta.

Happy Holidays to Everyone!

Didn't mean to spam on here, my favorite thread on this forum.

Sincerely!

You too!

And have a wonderful new year :)
(This is my favorite thread too. Already can't wait for the 10.15 equivalent!)

Nail on the head. I wasn't waiting long enough. When it would popup with the folders being written it covered up the progress bar and I didn't realize it hadn't finished.

Is there any way to use AFPS? I noticed it wouldn't work if I formatted the SSD to AFPS and installed Mojave. It looks like there is a patch for AFPS, but you can't check it..

You can only use APFS if the installation volume was formatted or converted to APFS already. That patch is only required in cases where the APFS boot ROM patches haven't been applied.
