So do you think my 13” Early 2011 MacBook Pro will update to 10.14.5 ok?

I think so, but then you won't have more the OpenGL Video Acceleration, so no transparencies and slower UI performances.
My tests were essentially focused to help others to find some alternative solutions or avoiding any attempts I already did in order to fix the issue.

This has been talked about a lot. The reason that the MacBook 5,2 supports 8GB of ram is due to it's nvidia nForce MCP79 chipset. It was the old intel chipset that had the limitation. The 5,2 MacBook does indeed run at full DDR2 800Mhz. There are more technical explanations on these forums if you search.
Will be interesting to see what the author of MacTracker replies, have contacted him.
With the MCP79 chipset its no surprise, but what took me by surprise is that I only found 6GB as max. RAM in all specs (lowendmac, MacTracker, OWC, ...). If its common knowledge, why don't they correct that entry?

After macOS 10.14.4, mainly Telegram isn't opening. Any suggestions to fix this without a downgrade?

While everybody* hopes a solution for OpenGL cards in 10.14.5 can be found, I´ve spent some more time to bring the MB4,1 as close to the rest of the unsupported bunch as possible.

Since the first kext package (as add-ons to the MB5,2 selection of patches by dosdude1) I found some newer kexts that work as the older ones (and being more recent versions, likelihood to hold up against time a bit longer seems better to me).
In addition, two kexts could be swapped against slightly older versions, but giving back two functions that were not working at all on the machine:
- IR remote control input
- Magic Mouse & Magic Trackpad

Small downside hereby: The Apple remote can only be brought to life with the addition of the tool "Mira", which is a paid software with a free trial period. Some plugin component in addition to the IRController kext seems to be odd still. In system settings (security, login, advanced) the IR interface shows up as soon as the kext is replaced, though! I´ll be hunting further... ;-)
Magic Mouse and Trackpad can now be found as BT devices, behave correct in advertising and coupling, but offer only standard-click and movement features. In the case of the mouse, right click works also (a great relief as an alternative to the internal topcase trackpad).

Table and screenshot show the before-after comparison, color coding helps to see what's still to be done. (Yeah, I'm fully aware that there probably will be never a OpenGL driver for x3100 working with Mojave. Its just in there for completeness).

Prelinked 10.14.4 kernel and complete Kexts-ZIP will be deployed soon. Not sure if @0403979 can be convinced to include this fully into his patcher, but hey, here are the ingredients anyway ;-)

EDIT
Links to PrelinkedKernel and the Kext-ZIP v1.1 - strictly use together, do not mix with previous combo! MIRA can be found here.
UPDATE
Kext-ZIP v1.2 here for use with 10.14.4 and .5 beta
Kext-ZIP v1.3 linked here for .5beta2

*me too, you bet!

[doublepost=1554132668][/doublepost]
Yes it is but if you install 10.14.5 and install 10.14.4 over it it won't work you have to do a clean install I tried and my iMac kept rebooting
pleaseeeee. ;););)

install these kexts one at a time let the kext utility do its thing at the start then once it says have a good day drag each one at a time then after reboot

thanks so much. I´m gonna try it right now
The "one at a time" is imho mumbo jumbo. I always drag and drop all kexts I want to install/change in one go.
Much more important: Wait longer than the "have a good day (night)" message comes up!
If you restart too soon, you'll end up with a missing/corrupt prelinkedkernel.
Best way is to open that folder /S/L/PrelinkedKernels/ and wait for the new kernel to re-appear in >14MB size, then reboot...

Gotta say, on my MacBookPro 5,2 17 inch... all fantastic from 10.14.0 to 10.14.3

But with 10.14.4 (installed with 1.3.0) I got random Kernel Panics all the time.
I had to get the installer 1.2.3 with 10.14.3 and reinstall.

Hope this can get sorted or I'll have to stay here forever. (which is still better than 10.11.x!) :)

Do you still have the right Apple Installer dmg for 10.14.3?

So do you think my 13” Early 2011 MacBook Pro will update to 10.14.5 ok?
I'm pretty sure you can update I did no my 15" 2011, however the beta5 update was really slow, and no graphics acceleration, Personally I would hold off since its also Apples way of testing their software on unsuspecting (beta) machines...sothey don't mind if its sluggish and painful because it helps them iron out whats not working...

Hey guys, anyone installed 10.4.4 on a MacBook Pro 8,3 with dGPU? I'm on 10.4.3 and everything is working great. I'm doing a backup with Super Duper AND Time Machine, already download Mojave Patcher 1.3.0 and created installation disk with 10.4.4, but it will be nice to hear from you before applying. On a side note, two patches appeared on Patch Updater (Nigh Shift and Siri patches), both adding support for 10.4.4. Can I install the patches on a lower version (10.4.3) or do I leave it alone?

If you do, it would not do any harm. I updated those patches (Siri - version 0 and Night Shift - version 7) on my unsupported MBP with 10.14.3 installed. No issues.

Sadly, I have to report, that 10.14.4 is not a daily driver at all. You can goof around with it and beta-test it for the sake of knowledge, but fore serious work you need 10.14.3. So, I was forced to return to 10.14.3, very sad indeed. In my testings 10.14.4 will crash unexpectedly at least once a day. I do not use any of the iOS apps and have no Siri. If one would change appearance elements like "Reduced Transparency" the OS would crash, than it will settle until the next change and crash. Then there are third party programs, which have implemented portions of the new API, which are broken in 10.14.4, but work perfectly fine in 10.14.3. An example for this is Enpass. The support for Mojave's White/Dark themes was implemented as of version 6.0 ( the latest). So that version works outstanding in 10.14.3, but under 10.14.4 it will just open and display a black/white square window depending on the selected theme. So certain programs are rendered by this totally useless. Although at a first glance poucame's 1.4.1 Hybrid mode would seem to work, one can notice some elements having changed appearance and it does not look as pleasing to the eyes and practical for work as with 10.14.3. Given the above, once released, I think none of us will be using 10.15 as a daily driver. By then changes will be so drastic, that no tinkering, nor replacement with older components will manage to rescue the day. We have reached the final station for our old macs. Maybe we should concentrate on making 10.14.3 being able to appear to programs as if of a higher version. In the long run it will be necessary to avoid OS-version restrictions imposed by third party programs. I think in 10.14.3 the support for all features pertinent to Mojave is excellent, this will assure compatibility with future third party apps.

Only time will show. I won't argue with you now, but suffice to say, that none of my analysis and predictions for software/operating systems have been wrong so far for the last 20 years. Wait and you will see.

Hi,
I haven't been able to get 10.14.4 running on my Macbook5,1 (2008 unibody Macbook), but it looks like some people have had success. (When I install 10.14.4, it doesn't recognise the display and keyboard, hence I get no backlight and it thinks the screen is an external display.) Can anyone share a recipe for successfully installing 10.14.4. on a Macbook5,1 (not MacbookPro5,1)?

Thank you!

I believe you are so right so many roadblocks put up in the way :(

I have the 2009 MacBook 5,1 did you apply the post install patches after installing 10.14.4 and once you get into the desktop you have to be quick to install the updates from the patch updater I have had mine 10.14.4 for a few days no issues so far

What about graphics issues, like OneDrive window not showing up?
I am setting it up now waiting for things to sync but if I remember before I installed 10.14.5 it wasn't working correctly so I will let you know
