Does anyone notice this new feature after applying the Supplemental Update? I cannot charge my battery when using the MB, only when it is completely shutting down (Might be related to this feature)

When I attach the power cord to the MB and the screen is off, it shows this icon in the middle of the screen like on iPhones and iPads.

what is your video card in your MacBook Pro it almost sounds like you don't have graphics acceleration

GT 330 M / Intel HD graphics (arrandale) There is graphics acceleration as the dock is transparent. Restarting safari will often restore full speed (or even opening chrome). The mouse cursor appears to continue to work fine until randomly it starts lagging/hesitating again.

What's also funny is that when moving the mouse cursor outside the safari window, full speed is restored.

Probably because we bypass the system checks. Our software system update (via preferences) is "customized" to ignore them.

Hmmm...Looks like Apple may have snuck in some more changes. Caveat Emptor. Personally, I see no reason to jump on this "T2" update (for our older Macs) until the smoke clears...

Wouldnt you agree this is nuts memory usage? Normally, before todays supplemental update, which is the only change, I would hover around 30-50% memory usage. That was with multiple tabs open, a music player going with the entire song loaded into ram, etc... Now I have one tab open in Safari and that's it, nothing. My RAM is FULL.

Ouch! Check your activity monitor or a terminal 'ps' to see what else is running on your machine (and what is hogging ram). Does this occur right after the update? I usually let the system "quiesce" for a little while after an update just to watch the types of jobs that run. Only then do I stress some built in apps like Safari.

I did the update at around noon today. I have screen caps of Activity Monitor up, I don't see anything using up all the memory, there are just a ton of processes in RAM.

Sweet background. But Safari Technology Preview with Ad blocker are running. I would restart and check again.

Done, completely removed Ad Guard and I am at 99% right now...

Unless anyone else has some better ideas, It looks like I am going to reinstall to a pre supplemental update state.

I agree, there may be something funky about this update on unsupported non-T2 machines. Some other "problematic" supplemental update findings are trickling in. I see no reason to update myself.

Hello, i have some questions since the last time i tried mojave was somewhere in december and now there are a lot of comments, i have a mbp early 2011, last time everything was working great except some graphic anomalies, i mean the glitches with the rendering like corners etc, what is the progress of that so far?

Just make sure that you stay on the integrated graphics, HD Graphics 3000. If you switch into the discreet HD 6750M, you'll have no acceleration and terrible graphics anomalies.

Assuming your discrete graphics chip is functioning properly, you can use gfxCardStatus, v2.4.4i, which will automatically switch to the integrated graphics after your MBP boots. It will then force the MBP to stay on the integrated graphics even if an App calls for the discrete graphics.

My MBP5,2 17" (mid 2009) doesn't show this after upgrading to 10.14.5 supplemental, and charging still works normally.

BUT: RAM is full right after boot (compressed part is very high).
Despite RAM I don't seem to see any slowdown. A new memory allocation policy?

I am having a hell of a time getting Mojave reinstalled on my Mini... I still have the patcher I used to install 10.14.5 on here but it's not letting me install. That supplemental update really did a number. I would suggest not doing it, or if you have not trying to reinstall for now.

Greetings... I bought a MBP4,1 thinking it was the 17-inch. Turned out it was the 15-inch. I wanted to use its parts to repair the olde 17" which screen had died and everything was - well - dying piece by piece. The owner said the MB was faulty. Since it was only £5 (yes!), I was philosophical about my loss (£15 for freight). Out of curiosity, I plugged in the laptop, and was astounded when it gave the startup sound which, I thought, meant the MB was OK. I put in a blank spare SSD (120Gb), and used @dosdude1's patcher to put Mojave on it, in the process, converting the SSD's format to APFS (not intentionally, but...). Imagine my surprise when, after the post-install, it ran. For 2 days. Then, this kernel panic when starting the laptop. About four times. After those, it started normally. I hope I have copied the right section for diagnosis - if anyone can help me. As for the 17", I am hoping I stumble across another £5 miracle... The laptop is excellent otherwise - well used, clean, all lights working (keyboard, screen dimming etc.) etc. - and running 10.14.6 beta, because of the SSD's APFS.

Are you aware of the APFS local snapshots? It takes seconds to return your system to its previous state thus making the experimentation with any updates absolutely pain free. I believe this is one of the best APFS features especially for our unsupported Macs.

I also have an iMac 8.1 and I had problems with the backlight control and F1 and F2 keys that did not work see message #15087 but I found the solution: on iMac 8,1 you should not replaced 3 files otherwise KP
but
only replace the file "DisplayServices.framework" contained in "bkltpatch10.14.2" in /S/L/ PrivateFrameworks (and repaired the permissions) see message #15299.

If you did the installation of the patch with "install.sh" it made a Backup of 4 files in ~/Bklt_Backup
Restarts on an external disk and put back in place:
"AppleBacklight.kext" and "AppleBacklightExpert.kext" in/System/Library/Extensions/
"AGDCBacklightControl.kext" in /System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsControl.kext/Contents/PlugIns/
And repair permissions with Terminal from the external drive:
sudo chmod -R 755 /Volumes/NameOfYourMojaveDisk/System/Library/Extensions/AppleBacklight.kext
sudo chown -R 0:0 /Volumes/NameOfYourMojaveDisk/System/Library/Extensions/AppleBacklight.kext
sudo chmod -R 755 /Volumes/NameOfYourMojaveDisk/System/Library/Extensions/AppleBacklightExpert.kext

Thanks for your help on this issue. The patch that you supplied worked first time. Backlight controls are now fine. As far as I can see, everything that is supported by the iMac8,1 hardware is now working. Continuity is not available because Bluetooth 4 is not supported. The System Report shows:

Handoff Supported: No
Instant Hot Spot Supported: No
Have you tried upgrading the PCI Bluetooth card?

First, check if Cuda Device is found (detected) on your system; for example using Cuda-Z. If not, update Cuda Driver to v8.0.90 < this was the last version that supports NVDA Tesla (and Fermi, though release note said it' s for 10.11.x-10.12.x). Yeah, already tested on 10.14.x and it just works.

If Cuda is recognized, you could ignore those warning. However Cuda.prefPane checks for update on every boot, but you could remove it's LaunchAgents from System (only removing update, not it's support):

cd /Library/LaunchAgents && ls
sudo rm com.nvidia.CUDASoftwareUpdate.plist

There's another method; is adding "GPU Driver version (NVDAResman)" on "CUDA.framework's Info.plist" located on: /Library/Frameworks/CUDA.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist:

I am puzzled by folks installing the new Supplemental Update on unsupported machines. That is only meant for the new 2018/2019 models. It isn't offered on my supported MacBook Pro 14,1 so perhaps Apple didn't put enough checks into the installer to prevent it being applied to pre-2018 machines.

Try booting with CMD-V (verbose boot), if during booting you encounter many of these instances: EXC_RESOURCE

Then the only way to fix this abnormal RAM usage is to re-install Mojave.

Keep track also of not using old Safari Extensions, because Mojave is allergic to them, it prefers the New Safari Extensions downloaded through its New App Store.
