Is there a patch to get the built-in iSight or external Webcam (Logitech c920) working for a 13-inch MacBook Pro 5,5 (mid 2009)? I've tried replacing the IOUSB*.kext files with kext utility and running the MacOS Mojave Patcher post install and forced a cache rebuild, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

These should work OOB as long as you have LegacyUSBInjector.kext in your Library/Extensions. It is a standard patch and has been around since Sierra patcher. If you have it, try to rebuild the caches and reboot.

I know its been hit or miss with iSight on macOS Mojave if you ever decide to do a clean install of Mojave you might try unchecking the the legacy usb kexts as I know that worked before for me on my MacBook 5,2 or you may try just to reinstall Mojave and not check the legacy usb kexts in post in the post install patches

I do have the LegacyUSBInjector.kext in my Library/Extensions. I tried another cache rebuild and rebooted but same issue.

I hadn’t tried this yet, I’ll give it a go and see what happens. Thanks.

When I said OOB, I meant LegacyUSBInjector.kext should be the ONLY patch for any USB related issues. If you applied an extra iSight patch or other USB related patches, it would not work. In essence it is better to under-patch than over-patch.

Just an update on my MBP iSight/Webcam issue. I tried re-installing Mojave and applying only the LegacyUSBInjector.kext patch, but still couldn't get it to work, not sure if I missed something. However, I just did a fresh install of macOS Catalina using the Catalina patcher and now it's finally working. Thanks avz and TimothyR734 for the help.

Try this method: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...unsupported-macs-thread.2121473/post-28243266

Search for your Macmini5,1 AirDrop , and apply both the Wifi kext as explained.

That will add two new features on AirDrop finder panel and make easier to apply the Mojave Continuity features.
Thanks a lot
I used the beta version and succeeded
But one more question
Can I let the update from system preferences installed by itself? Or I need to make a new usb installer from Catalina patcher?

No you would need to make a Catalina Patcher as so much as changed from Mojave to Catalina and if you use any 32 bit apps they will no longer work
And I have another problem now
I made a usb to boot
But I stock on the recovery page That I clicked the Mac OS patch installer and it didn’t go on

I just released macOS Patcher version 3.2 which includes a new software update patch for HFS volumes on Mojave! More release information is available on the macOS Patcher 3.2 release page and the source code for the changes to SUVMMFaker is attached to this post.
My setup: HFS+ on internal, APFS on external/clone (clone of the HFS+ internal via CCC 5.1)

If I run the macOS Patcher.sh on the HFS+ volume, what will happen the next time I clone the HFS+ to the APFS? Will the changes from that script be ignored on the APFS clone? If not, since it's meant for HFS+, will that script adversely affect the APFS volume in any way?

EDIT: Also would like to understand the purpose of the SUVMMFaker. Since it’s attached there, is it also necessary to run this in conjunction with the Patcher 3.2?

Thanks

EDIT 2: Looked into this further, realize this isn't for me.

Yes if you are planning on updating to Catalina it won’t run on HFS-Extened-Journaled

That’s not entirely true. If you can boot to the Catalina installer USB you can open disk utility, unmount the HFS+ volume, convert it to APFS, then begin the Catalina installation routine and it will upgrade correctly. I’ve done it countless times.
