Hi, I went from HS to Mojave (using APFS as filesystem + APFS ROM patcher for native APFS support) on my MacBookPro 2009 MBP5,3 (NV 9400M+9600M).
I have been gone back to HS, because:
1. Startuptime and also generell working speed was significant (Boottime) or light (general work speed) slower. Running same startup items like Little Snitch of course.
2. More than 1. reason I had no working sleep mode - at least not using less power mode (only 9400M, 2. GPU disabled). If I closed lid or put in sleep no wakeup & at next hard reset/restart message of some KP/crash. I read here some have same prob, some got it solved by not using low power mode by always enable 2. GPU 9600M. But thats bad for temp (heats up) & battery time.
Switch back to HS was really easy by using Carbon Copy Cloner - I had an full backup from HS on an USB Stick.

Hi! I am trying to solve strange question - I want to install Mojave on the newest MacBook Pro 2019 (MacBookPro16,1) Officially Mojave is not support MacBookPro16,1. The problem is here:
photo_2020-07-11_11-25-59.jpg

As i understood i have two ways:
1) emulate older motherboard (I am trying to use Clover, it has some Fix* to emulate variables; it seems like a dirty way; now i am getting only black screen during boot :( )
2) patch installer to block/override motherboards checking (and maybe add some kext from Catalina for the newest hardware) Now i am trying macos-patcher for that...

Thoughts and advices are very welcome )

And sorry for my ugly english..

Not sure why you want Mojave to run on that hardware...
But by my knowledge you can use the MojavePatcher tool to just install it on virtually any Mac.

No, on Catalina it does not have effect.
Different construction site, but we use the very same framework with our 2011 iMacs having sandy bridge CPUs to get back the iGPU "QuickSync" support in Mojave and Catalina.
So it will be a great step forward for such modded iMacs to have the framework installed by a patcher automatically. This is true for some other extensions, too. Fortunately these are part of the @dosdude1 patcher for a longer time, unfortunately we cannot get them installed or selected from the patcher automatically (I am just talking about 2011 iMac having a metal card like my systems).

Has anyone installed todays Security Update?

I just installed SU2020-004 but had to do it via the standalone installer on my iMac 9,1 HFS. No issues.

For some reason I was going around in circles trying to find the download on Apple's site, don't know why they make it hard to find but here's the link for those who want it: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2045?locale=en_CA

iMac late 2009 (11,1)

MBP Early 2011 (8,2) w/Dosdude gmux HW fix.

Samsung SSD APFS boot volumes on both

Same issue on both after updating to latest July 2020 Security update from MacOS OTA:

1.) Reboots to grey screen (stuck)
2.) Manually reboot and option to boot from USB Mojave Installer (made w/Dosdude1 v1.37 patcher)
3.) Cannot execute patch tool. (No response when run, but all other utilities in the menu run fine).
4.) Reinstall OS from USB Mojave Installer, after installation complete, reboot again from USB to run patch tool.
5.) Still no joy, and Patch Tool won't run.

Notes:
- Remade USB installer twice, using new 10.14.6 download from Dosdude1 v1.37.
- CSR util is confirmed disabled.
- Newly downloaded (07/15/2020) MacOS 10.14.6 Installer version plist shows "14.6.06".

Luckily had a snapshot for my iMac and restored from that. MBP is a test machine, so no big deal...I can reinstall High Sierra if necessary. But I would prefer Mojave.

Anybody have any ideas on how I can force the patch tool to run from the USB Installer boot disk?

Sorry is this has been covered before...but how do I install Mojave on my 2012 5,1 MP WITHOUT a Metal supported card? I recently upgraded the stock 1GB HD5770 with a 8GB Sapphire 480.
Upgraded the card for some gaming & to install Mojave, & didnt realize the card was not a Metal card :(
I used the dosdude patcher on my 2009 MBP & it worked great, but when I tried to use it on the 5,1 MP the patcher says that it is only for "unsupported" machines...

FYI, Howard Oakley's website has links to the standalone updates pretty much as soon as they become available - I read his blog every day and get my update info that way.

Macpro 5,1 is supported in Mojave. You don't need any patcher just the regular installer. You can use the patcher but without installing the post installation patches

Having a problem with installing SecUpd 2020-004 on my HFS+ install,
did all the usual with modifying the distribution file as I have done before
but comes up with an error while validating,

"The connection to service named com.apple.package-script-service was invalidated." UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=The connection to service named com.apple.package-script-service was invalidated.}}} {

any clues?
