I just happens to be the only volume I have that has enough space on it for testing. I'd have to wipe a drive to do HFS+. I CAN if I have to, but if the problem isn't APFS, I'd rather not.Is APFS required?

unplug your macOS patcher usb power on your Mac and hold the option key if you see efi try thatStill no luck and think I'm gonna have to give up...
2009 MacBook Pro 15" (5,4) downloaded the beta through the patcher, installed then applied the post install patches using the newest b6 patcher and still just the Mac logo and full progress bar. I am using HFS+ journaled not APFS.
I have APFS on my internal HDD running MacOS Mojave so far no issues iMac9.1Hey, does HDD work with Mojave's HDD APFS support?

Hello I am running macos mojave 18A314k I would like to update for the latest beta. Could you help me? Thank you.Hey everybody! Just checking in from my MacBook7,1 with Mojave beta 3! My SSD arrived and I installed it last night. This computer hasn't felt so fast since, like, Lion. Amazing.
Anybody else tried @jackluke's advice? I'm definitely seeing a few graphical glitches around the edges of windows, especially Dashboard widgets. Does this fix it? Also, not sure if I'm just dumb but which version of macOS is this file from? Beta 1? I'll definitely be giving it a try.

I worried about the same thing, as I said it's more of a temporary workaround than a long term solution. I haven't seen any increased RAM usage yet, but it doesn't mean it's not a problem. Looking forward to hearing how your improved patch goes!

macOS High Mojave? Looking forward to seeing you all again next year.

That gives you a choice I have my iMac 9.1 on APFS and my iMac 8.1 on HFS both running Mojave no issues with eitherJust to clarify what is preferred Apple File Sys for Mojave? HFS+ or APFS. Would make sense for APFS and not HFS+. High Sierra automatically converts to APFS. Would make sense that Mojave requires APFS as well.
Hope there is a way to solve your issue installingThat is just the drive that my OS is on. I used a USB stick for the Mojave patcher.

I tried that, still KP's, hey it was worth a try.
Hello I am running macos mojave 18A314k I would like to update for the latest beta. Could you help me? Thank you.
I'm thinking it's the end of the line for those of us on the Mac Pro 3,1 since SSE 4.1 is likely an unpatchable limiting factor. I have two of them, one as a household media server (3.0 Ghz, 8 Core, GT120), the other as my primary desktop (2.8 Ghz, 8 Core with an ancient GTX 8800 card). The desktop machine has lasted me 3 years now as it was a gift from a friend who upgraded to a 5K iMac. The media server 3,1 was also donated from a friend whose a pro photographer and found a 2012 Mac Pro to replace it with. So I cannot complain much about my situation since outside of more hard drives I've bought over the years and a few accessories, it's not like I have that much money in these machines and the efforts of Dosdude, Czo and others on this forum has saved me from buying a new desktop machine for 3 years. I used to keep a Mac Pro 1,1 as my media server but it's now retired (but still working).
....
I haven't tried installing an update over a previous version, I just downloaded the new InstallESD.dmg (from a URL I found in the software catalog) and redid the process outlined in my manual patch tutorial completely from scratch.

As well as replacing IOUSBHostFamily.kext, you need to also replace IOUSBFamily.kext.
There may be other fallout from this, nothing that I've seen yet but backup the old file & be careful!

[Reopening thread....]
HOLY MOTHER OF @$#^$!!!
I shouldn't have written off this effort. Looks like my Mac 3,1s may have a life after all....not to mention my elderly iMac 8,1, Macbook 2009 and Macbook Pro 2010.
But I'm going to start with my new guinea pig in this effort, a Mac Mini 2010 that was recently gifted to me. It's got a clean hard drive and it's itching for something to do. So let's do this.
Go to page 1 for patch. There is also a list of "supported" Mac's. A lot of members have had success installing Mojave to "vintage" PB.I have been following this tread for some time. This is my first post on macrumors as well. Is it possible to run macOS X 10.14 Mojave on a 2011 macbook air? If so is there a place go and fin all the steps needed to do it? I also have a late 2009 macbook pro 2.66 mHz C2D that I am wondering if it will run mojave as well. Again any help would be appreciated. I hate that Apple has sunset so many old devices that are still fine computers. Please help or direct me if you can. Thanks to all who have help to make this possible for so many people.
Paul
