What error are you receiving (in verbose view)? If it's something like "resource busy", just make sure you unmount "InstallESD" using Disk Utility first (for some reason, the Mojave installer mounts this image when the installer app is open, and doesn't unmount it when quit, which is what causes this error).

Still got same error on third try. here are some of the error log

If that’s what caused the issue then that would be quite hilarious.

Next time add logs as code. This is a little spammy.

Did you apply the PlatformSupport patch and the Boot patch?
Brain fart, just did and; Apple logo, crash, reboots (on it's own) reboots again, crash, apple logo, the progress bar gets about 3/4 done, rinse & repeat.

checking Verbose

I don't see anything that jumps out in Verbose, SUM as well, Reboots out of Verbose & crash, reboots, progress bar, same as before. Perhaps go thru entire process, erase drive & rerun patch and see what results that produces.

Good idea. Rerun it.

Will do, thanks for all the input.

Good luck. It’s almost 00:00 in my region so I’m going to sleep for 8 hours. I’ll check on what I’ve missed when I wake up.

I don't make snarky comments but since the totally out of place hackintosh debacle, what's more spammy, one log out of place or replying to every post on the page?

Probably the second option. I shouldn’t interfere with people seeking help. That was rude of me. Sorry about that. Chances are that the other user didn’t know about the code feature anyway.
[doublepost=1531345659][/doublepost]@reperok95 I apologise for my rude behaviour. I was trying to say something that I took it a little too far. My apologies.
[doublepost=1531345690][/doublepost]Good night everyone.

redownloaded the patcher tool from page 1 of this thread, downloaded Mojave beta installer from tool menu in patcher app. erased USB drive to Mac OS X journaled guid. verified installer with patcher app. seleced my now new named drive from drive options. started operation. Still get same error

Success report:

Writing from 10.14 on a 2009 MacBookPro5,3 with the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, 8GB of RAM, and an SSD. Works great (see specs below)! The first installer I made was with the public beta 1 (forgot to check before building the installer). It wouldn’t boot, would get stuck at “too many corpses being created”. After realizing it was the 1st beta, I downloaded public beta 2, built a new installer, booted and installed without issue.

I chose the default post installer patch options for a MacBookPro5,3. I had a lot of screen tearing, so I booted back into the installer and ran the graphics patch. No more tearing so far. I can play 1080 HD videos in YouTube and in QT. I’ll start testing other stuff tonight.

Some Notes:
  • I formatted the drive HFS+ to see if the installer would convert it to APFS, it did not. I’m on either way, I’m still running HFS+ in 10.13 on this, but wanted to note it in for potential future troubleshooting later.
  • System Information > Disc Burning reports “No disc burning device was found. If the device is external, make sure it’s connected and turned on.”. It’s also not listed under System Information > SATA. I’ll have to check this in 10.11 and 10.13. The drive is installed, but I haven’t used it in awhile.
  • Webcam is black.
  • Dashboard apps have black boxes instead of shadows (long live Dashboard!).
  • News app works, as does the new App Store, so iOS ports seem to be good so far.
  • Bluetooth connection to my AirPods work, this does not work on my fully support 2012 MacBook Air.
  • A lot of bugs that I’ve run into are also present in the 10.14 Bata on a support MacBook Air.

This is mostly a practice run for the patching process, ahead of trying to test my Late 2011 17” MacBook Pro with a bad AMD GPU. That’s where the real fun will begin.

I would try a different usb device yours might be defective or corrupted

Where are you saving the installer app to? Also, is your USB drive 16GB or larger?

Mojave is now installed on my oldest Mac --- MacBook Pro 13" mid-2009.

Thanks to everyone's efforts here, primarily by @dosdude1 and his patch app (.1b5), Mojave is now running on a Core 2 Duo, Nvidia 9400 based Mac.

Regards and Thanks.

Edit: just saw post that the latest Mojave Patch App version is now 0.1b6

Saving installer app to my applications folder. USB is 16gb. I am actually running current system on Mojave from using you patcher. Running great thanks to you. but wanted a fresh install with new Beta apple released today, with your new tool, switch to APFS, and add updater patch. Im using same USB as before. Only thing different now is the version of your beta, the version of Mojave being downloaded, and now running main OS on Mojave instead of High Sierra.

Don't have another spare USB drive to use. so tried to use a SSD w/ thunderbolt, and got same error

Re: The updated patcher from page 85. Two Mac minis 3,1 2.0 ghz and 2.5 ghz C2D, early and late 2009 NVIDIA GeForce are running Beta 18A326g. There is no native WiFi but there wasn't for Sierra or High Sierra. The Dock in overlay mode shows the ripple effect when widgets are added. Both run El Capitan (last OS), Sierra, HIgh Sierra and now Mojave - thanks to all for your efforts, sincerely. The early 2009 Mac mini 2.0 ghz living to see more years - what a trooper. Now to the Macbook Pro 2011 8,1 - No kexts for IntelHD3000 with the same installer. About this Mac reads: Graphics: Display 3 mb. Intermitant flickering. Post Install with and without Legacy Video Card, same results. Should I go back to a previous installer for this Mac?

Has anyone successfully installed Mojave to a Firewire/Thunderbolt drive?, I thought somewhere in an earlier post someone did.
