Mojave is now installed on my oldest Mac --- MacBook Pro "13 mid-2009.

Thanks to everyone's efforts here, primarily by @dosdude1 and his patch app (.1b5), Mojave is now running on a Core 2 Duo, Nvidia 9400 based Mac.

Regards and Thanks.

Do we have a running list of which Apple NVIDIA GPUs have graphics acceleration with patched drivers from Dosdude1? I'd be curious to know. I also have a PCIe Nvidia 8800GT. I don't use it much as I have an Maxwell Nvidia GeForce Titan X that I am patiently waiting for Nvidia to release when Apple does their GM. The Titan X is king in High Sierra. It's not a cheap card and its starting to show some age even but its still ranked pretty high up there. I could put my Titan on ice for awhile to play around with the 8800 GT card on a Mac Pro 3,1.

Will be trying out my MacBook Pro 13" models first since that seems to be were the recent success is. :)

Thanks. I just send a donation today (will be sending more each month). I know this is a group effort but I gotta give him some chops for his hard work on this stuff and continuously delivering beta updates as they come in. I wish I was able to contribute more. I've mostly been running into dead ends, tons of installs and testing just nothing really concrete to offer. Sorry about that. I might have lost my Mojo. Been away from the Hackintosh realm for a decade and haven't done a lot of system hacking since then.

If everyone who hasn't donated, please send dosdude1 what it would cost for a beer. I am sending more than that but if everyone gave a little bit I am sure it would make a huge difference. I ran a shareware company a long time ago and donations do help keep things going.

Woz should be proud of you guys. Maybe one day we could form a MacBrew meet up like a mini WWDC for unsupported Mac enthusiasts. Heck if could even be during WWDC.

Re: The updated patcher from page 85. Two Mac minis 3,1 2.0 ghz and 2.5 ghz C2D, early and late 2009 NVIDIA GeForce are running Beta 18A326g. There is no native WiFi but there wasn't for Sierra or High Sierra. The Dock in overlay mode shows the ripple effect when widgets are added. Both run El Capitan (last OS), Sierra, HIgh Sierra and now Mojave - thanks to all for your efforts, sincerely. The early 2009 Mac mini 2.0 ghz living to see more years - what a trooper. Now to the Macbook Pro 2011 8,1 - No kexts for IntelHD3000 with the same installer. About this Mac reads: Graphics: Display 3 mb. Intermitant flickering. Post Install with and without Legacy Video Card, same results. Should I go back to a previous installer for this Mac?

Also, no Rebuilding of caches after running Post Installer and selecting Reboot on MacBook Pro 8,1 2011. Select reboot and nothing happens so I select Restart from the Apple pull down menu.

Thank you everybody for all the time and effort I just installed MacOS Mojave on my older other iMac 8.1 no glitches haven't tried FaceTime on the iMac 8.1 but works on my iMac 9.1

Hi!
During installing the patched macOS i'm getting constant errors after PackageKit stage. The entire log is in the attachment. After trying to boot in to system, im getting the "This version of MAC OS X is not supported on this platform! (Mac-F2268AC8) error, even after trying to install the platform check bypass patches and Force Rebuilding Cache. Im running on MacBookPro5,5 and trying to dirty install from High Sierra.

Has anyone successfully installed Mojave to a Firewire/Thunderbolt drive?, I thought somewhere in an earlier post someone did.

Firewire 800 yes. It should not matter what it is running on SATA II/III, USB 2/3/C, Firewire 400/800, Thunderbolt, PCIe SSD card, all should work fine.

Just me but I am starting to dislike USB 2/3/C. I often will use Firewire 800 instead. I used to be into Thunderbolt but the cost of that interface/devices are just too expensive. The only time Thunderbolt is just plain awesome is with two thunderbolt Macs. Put one in Target disk mode and you can do a fresh clone to the other system. Guess I have regressed to FW and SATA 2/3 on my systems. Starting to use PCIe SSDs more, but a lot of cards are hit or miss on how well they are recognized during startup. My miniSSD card is the most reliable. I'll one day do a review on some of these cards I bought for those interested.

Are you installing to an APFS volume?

!! You guys made my day! Thanks for your hard work @dosdude1

Sorry I wasn't trying to sound rude nor ungrateful. I just wanted to point the bug out. Honestly I can live without a camera so I doesn't really matter for me. And I wrote it once before but again I want to express a big thank you to the experts out there who made it possible to run macOS Mojave on an unsupported system :)

I have never used my camera, it's so bad anyway :)

This might be a little offtopic but would it be advisable to upgrade a MacBook 7,1 to 16 GB of RAM? I'm running a system monitoring app in the background and it reports that there are only 200-500 MBs free of my 8 GBs. And that is also when I'm doing hardly anything ...

Thanks guys, having zero success with it, (tried twice) as I posted earlier, KP's with external 800 FW, I guess I'm going to have to suck it up & install to internal SSD. It is a test bed, 2010 iMac.
I feel you on Thunderbolt devices, expensive, to say the least, current iMac has Thunderbolt, but using Firewire 800.

MacBook7,1 needs 2x8GB SODIMM DDR3-1066 - they cost a lot more than the MacBook - but you can upgrade it.

RAM is SUPPOSED to be fully utilized under Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and later. It's the memory pressure you need to worry about. If that's low/green, then no need to worry about RAM. You can see in this picture almost all my 16GB is being used, but memory pressure is very low.

Hey everybody! Just checking in from my MacBook7,1 with Mojave beta 3! My SSD arrived and I installed it last night. This computer hasn't felt so fast since, like, Lion. Amazing.

I want to share an interesting experiment, referred especially to Nvidia 320M owners.

When I observed the IOAccelerator framework behavior, I kept a backup of the one present in Mojave beta 1.

Comparing them I noticed that have mainly different sizes:

IOAccelerator unix exe from Mojave Beta 1 = 70 KB
IOAccelerator unix exe from Mojave Beta 2 = 158 KB

Well I have tried to replace and I noticed an overall better experience, no artifacts, no minimum glitches, and major reactivity in windows, folders and everything else.

Moreover a better characters contrast and transparency effects, bright colors, FaceTime is flowing better.

Sometimes I got some Finder folders autoclose, instead using the previous IOAccelerator from Mojave Beta 1, Finder is more quick and fluid and above all no more unwanted autoclosing windows.

I would suggest to try it, making a backup of your previous (more recent) one.

Here are the steps:

Locate your Mojave path: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/IOAccelerator.framework/Versions/A/
- Replace inside this subfolder the IOAccelerator unix exe with the one I have attached.

Trust me you will notice significative improvements, your C2D behaves like an Intel i5 Dual Core. Try to believe.

Anybody else tried @jackluke's advice? I'm definitely seeing a few graphical glitches around the edges of windows, especially Dashboard widgets. Does this fix it? Also, not sure if I'm just dumb but which version of macOS is this file from? Beta 1? I'll definitely be giving it a try.

@ASentientBot I'm so happy you found that patch! I'm actually going to try to compare it with clientclose function from newer Nvidia drivers, and patch it. I think your patch actually results in a kernel memory leak (nothing is ever freed...)

I worried about the same thing, as I said it's more of a temporary workaround than a long term solution. I haven't seen any increased RAM usage yet, but it doesn't mean it's not a problem. Looking forward to hearing how your improved patch goes!

Let’s hope we’ll get 10.15 running for you and everyone else as well.
macOS High Mojave? Looking forward to seeing you all again next year.

Yes... I've just tried to FaceTime with someone and the camera is not recognized (MacBook 7,1)
Just confirmed the same issue, I'll look into a fix.

Sorry for the spam everybody.

Still no luck and think I'm gonna have to give up...

2009 MacBook Pro 15" (5,4) downloaded the beta through the patcher, installed then applied the post install patches using the newest b6 patcher and still just the Mac logo and full progress bar. I am using HFS+ journaled not APFS.

Are you installing to an APFS volume?

I'm searching this thread now, is booting APFS on unsupported machines problematic? I installed 10.14 on an APFS volume on my Late 2011 17" / MacBookPro8,3 and it gives the "This version of OS X is not supported on this platform error!".
