I made a little package/script with all the files needed for full hardware support on all systems with DP2 (with the exception of keyboard/trackpad on some machines). It can be downloaded here, and includes @ASentientBot's non-metal acceleration patches. Just extract, CD into extracted directory with Terminal, and execute "sudo ./install.sh CatalinaVolumeName" (leave out sudo if running from the installer or singleuser mode). If in the main OS, you'll also need to run "sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel" after running the script.

I can’t seem to seem to get WiFi and acceleration working. I am getting a read-only error running the script. I am doing this from a booted Catalina b2 Mac mini 2011. And a couple other override questions that I don’t know what to do with? Any help would be great!!

For those of us with Metal compatible cards, which lines do we need to comment out in order to avoid installing the non-metal acceleration patches? On my MacPro 3,1 with GTX680, these patches cause the metal acceleration to break and windows frames are visible during window drags. Would...

# cp -R intelarrandalegraphics/* "/Volumes/$volume/System/Library/Extensions"
# cp -R intelsandybridgegraphics/* "/Volumes/$volume/System/Library/Extensions"
# cp -R legacyamd/* "/Volumes/$volume/System/Library/Extensions"
# cp -R legacynvidia/* "/Volumes/$volume/System/Library/Extensions"

suffice or do I need to disable more of install.sh?

Thanks for that Starplayr, but I'm not even anywhere in you guys league, can you talk me through running the script, I have downloaded it, sorry to be a pain

You need to run "sudo mount -uw /", and then run the script.

I ended up doing a wipe and fresh install on my Mac Pro using DosDude1 install patcher. Quite the PITA.
It fixed the App Store validation issue. But DropBox will not set up.
I copied iTunes 12.9.5 and edited the plist. I am running it from ~/Applications. Works like a charm.

Took a MacPro 3,1 with flashed 680 GPU that runs Mojave fine with both APFS and NVME patches from dosdude1 and ran no compat check boot args on it.
On a supported MacMini, installed Cat beta 2 to external SSD and used all day with no problem.
Booted MM 7,1 into Mojave (internal) with Catalina on external SSD and used your beta 2 catwoman script to write patch to external SSD with correct paths.
Seemed to go OK.
Moved patched Catalina and booted. Although got gray Apple, progress stalls at about 2 cm into progress.
Any ideas?

I am getting ready to do a small update, you can wait for it.

Mine's just meant for Mac Pro 3,1. Sounds like it could be a video issue since that is the only thing my patcher doesn't do and I have not kept up with the updates on here for non-metal stuff. You could try a video patch from one of the fellas on here. If that doesn't work, possibly a clean install with someone else's method like dosdude1's.

My solution is more bare bones for just the Mac Pro.

I'm switching my focus to cloning Catalina volumes with a GUI app.

My goal with the MP3,1 was to have something quick and clean and I had a high level of interest. I decided to share if for other MP3,1 users. It may work on MP5,1 as well and Core2Duo systems minus video acceleration which others have that covered.

I'm hoping to have a good solution for cloning both clean installs and user setups especially to disk images. I've done it manually in the command line many times and plan to make something that is as simple as possible.

[doublepost=1560993289][/doublepost]It IS a Mac Pro 3,1 and it does have a metal nVidia GTX 680 that runs under Mojave—so it would seem to be identical to what you are testing and it does have the native APFS and NVMe boot rom patches.
But thanks for your efforts.

Try running my latest on it again 01b4. I misread your post. It could be the read file only file system thing that seems to get randomly turned on by the OS. My latest script handles that. See my output in the image below.

Also are you on Catalina Beta 1 or Beta 2?

Hey @dosdude1
did you think that using startosinstall would be even better for old mac and your program, you will save a lot of time users additionally

I use it much more than create install media because it is much faster to work on an SSD or HD than on a USB key

The earlier dmg with MacPro31_b2.sh worked fine on a MacPro 3,1 with GTX680 with one exception. The install script doesn't understand volume names with spaces in them such as 'Catalina HD'. Other than that everything is working perfectly under a patched DP2.

[doublepost=1560995755][/doublepost]Thanks. Beta 2. It could be the VM thing because the last line in verbose boot is:
root# VM Swap Subsystem is ON

I'll try beta 3 of catwoman.

I'm planning on implementing in-place installs when I release my final patcher.

Suggestion:
Use quotes. but I will go ahead and fix that for b5.

If from startup volume use / or press enter.

Thank you btw for testing it out and the feedback.

nothing out of the ordinary there.

try b4 and make sure you are applying it to the right target volume. If still a no go, Dosdude1 will have a GUI full patcher in about 2 weeks. :)

[doublepost=1560999851][/doublepost]Still No Go. Applied beta 3 patch to freshly installed Catalina on supported MM7,1 and then moved disk to MP3,1 with boot args set correctly and flashed 680 with APFS boot rom and NVME patch. Now it gets 1 cm into boot progress bar, goes to black screen, repeats that over three times and KPs.
Disk name is not double barrelled.
I'm giving up for today.

I created a landing page for my patches. And b5 fixes a spaces issue someone had earlier.

If things are haywire, I would probably do a clean install and start over. Sometimes that is the easiest method.

When running the b5 patch, should I be running it from a live Catalina booted from an external SSD on the supported MacMini, or should it be patching to a non-live Catalina on an external SSD on a Mojave booted MacMini?

Each time I've tried with a fresh Catalina and neither has worked, so not sure what I'm doing wrong.
