Big Sur pet peeves:

When starting up,

1) the backlit keyboard is off

2) the time displayed in the menu bar is pacific standard time, and switches to my time zone only after boot up

3) the background / wallpaper of the startup screen cannot easily be changed

If anyone knows how to fix any of these, I'd be grateful.

I am a long time user of the superduper application.
Something serious have changed though, in big sur and new m1 macs.

I can hardly believe, that for the first time in my mac history,
I will not be able to make bootable clones/backups.

Apple should provide a workaround to make it possible for developers and users.
:(

Did you read the article you linked to? You can have a bootable backup, you just have to install Big Sur onto your backup volume. Also, chances are that this situation will change, as soon as Apple addresses the problems with ASR. A little more in depth info over at CCC:

CCC and bootable backups of macOS Big Sur

OK so a few changes I’ve spotted so far in 11.3

  • New News widget
  • New All Playlists tab in Music
  • Podcasts redesigned
  • Genuine speed improvements, everything just seems a bit smoother on my Intel Macbook Air

Are you referring to 11.2? 11.3 has not yet been released to the public.

Thanks for the notes.
Safari's version/build number? Hopefully an 11.3 and Safari update combo fixes the spinning beachball I and some others intermittently experience with Safari bookmarks.

So I just went to this site and noticed that my Safari scroll bar is red 😯 I never noticed a colored scroll bar before. Is this new in Big Sur?

Just custom CSS. If you do the research it can be done in almost every modern browser.
Support for this is almost certainly new in Safari, as only Firefox has supported it so far.

EDIT: Yup. Even caniuse doesn't know that it supports it:

I guess this technically counts as its related to Big Sur, but after the 11.3 update came out and a Catalina security update, the System Preferences icon in Catalina no longer has a badge nagging you of a pending update unless an actual required update comes in. I guess Apple figures if you've held off until now, they'll finally leave you alone. :p

Few changes I've spotted in 11.4 Beta 1

Music - larger Shuffle and Repeat buttons on the toolbar, still missing the mouse-over button overlays present in every other App however. The Airplay menu has also been given a refresh.

Safari - notably smoother scrolling

I thought the stuttering scrolling was fixed with 11.3

it’s funny how weird it feels now to see round icons on the Dock. And I’ve only been on macOS 11 for a month. Wow!

New 2021 iMac wallpapers available for safari background wallpaper on Big Sur 11.3, all 7 colours are available, they look pretty cool.

I really like 'em! They remind me of the default Aqua desktop pictures Apple included up to Mac OS X Tiger.

They're located in /System/Library/Desktop Pictures. If you create a folder named Desktop Pictures in /Library or ~/Library and copy the files there, they become visible in System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Desktop as well. They come in Light and Dark.
