Btw, I read all of this multiple times and am trying to make sure I fully understand it. From this, I've concluded that I can use the Barry's micro patcher if I'd like. I actually submitted a pull request to him to fix an issue on my machine so I actually use that branch when I installed 11.1. I assume I can do the exact same thing on 11.2.

If I use your fork, what would be different than Barry's Micropatcher? You have a link to your fork that you'd recommend?
What device do you want to install Big Sur 11.2 on? It is kind of important to know before selecting any of the many install methods. Generally, I'd advise using the same micropatcher you had success with installing 11.1. BarryKN's micropatcher v.0.5.1 works with 11.2 on my rMBP mid-2012, 10,1.

Ausdauersportler's micropatcher dev-v.0.5.4 is here. You can read his ReadMe and he may even fix you up with BarryKN's branch. But again, why go to that trouble? Anyhow, it is your choice -- but do tell us a bit more about your device.

I am not sure anymore,
I've already installed macos BigSur on mu macbook mid 2012. No problem at all. 11.1.
Now I would like to install 11.2 and 11.2.1
I am downloading fill installer: Install Assistent.pkg now. Got it from the issues at: github.com/barrykn/big-sur-micropatcher.
If I use the Micropatcher method again, will I loose my data files on ssd? I do have a backup, but it would be more eassy if I just could leave the files.

Edit: I just installed 11.2 in the same way I installed Big Sur earlier. All data files where still there. :)
@nsoares, there is no update function in the script. You have to do all steps as supposed with the micropatcher.

AFAIK 11.2.1 is OTA via Software Update. We are waiting for the full installer.
It seems the 11.2.1 OTA update can be installed directly with no need for the full installer.

I was running BS 11.2 with OC and Software Update showed me an update.

SU 11.2.1.png

So I downloaded it and proceeded to install.

SU 11.2.1 DL.png

It took a bit of time to download and install with a few reboots, so much so that at some stage I was worried that it hanged. But with patience, the final OS is up and running without intervention.

About BS 11.2.1.png

I needed to patch the system again by running the patch-kexts.sh script on the Install macOS Big Sur USB stick, previously prepared for Big Sur installation, to re-enable all the hardware functions - Internal Sound, Wifi, BT, Ethernet, USB, Night shift, Sleep and brightness control, GPU HW video acceleration and DRM support of TV+ channel.

I just installed 11.2 via Micropatcher succesfully. But there is no 11.2.1 update available in Software-update.

My Big Sur is an update over Catalina, which has run CatalinaOTAswufix before to get the OTA updates for Catalina.
I am not sure whether that has made the Big Sur OTA available and installable.

But you can try to see whether it works.

@KennyW I'm not that lucky. I don't have any updates available.... I'm still with 11.0.1
Any ideas on how to update to the latest without having to install everything from zero ?
Thanks!

Hi, you will never find updates if your Mac is not compatible with Big Sur unless you install another program that allows you to be able to make OTA updates even on devices where they are not compatible. Currently the steps are: 1. Download the PKG version 2. Create a USB 3. Micropatcher 4. EFI 5. Update And you lose nothing I've always done this

Where do we normally find these pkg files?
This time I found it in the issue list of Github.

Hi,
many times people on this site (whom I personally thank because they are always helpful on all problems) post the link here in the various forum posts. Try going back a few pages and you should find the link

It seems that Big Sur 11.3 beta is available as an InstallAssistant.pkg; 12.38GB download.

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...j4siym3d0yvfgaauy2qdv8fn/InstallAssistant.pkg

The sucatalog info is:
Code:
1. macOS Big Sur Beta 11.3 (20E5172i)
   - 071-02793 - Added 2021-02-04 21:12:13
.
Apologies if this was already listed. Also, I'm not sure if this beta has the CVE-2021-3156 Heap-Based Buffer Overflow in Sudo bug patched. MrMacintosh says it is updated to sudo version 1.9.5p2 in the new BS 11.2.1 update.

Interesting that 20E5172i only appears in the 'public' version of the sucatalog and not in the developer!
Thank you for the hint. Downloading it now via MDS, public seed.

If I use:BigSurOTAswufix
I get an error:
Code:
/bin/sh: /Users/MacBartolo/*/BigSurOTAswufix.app/Contents/Resources/Scripts/bigsurswubetaotafix.command: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: /Users/MacBartolo/*/BigSurOTAswufix.app/Contents/Resources/Scripts/bigsurswubetaotafix.command: No such file or directory (127)
Anyone knows how to fix?

Edit:
I found out that you have to save this .app BigSurOTAswufix.app in Documents, Desktop, or ..
I had it saved elsewhere.

But still no upgrade to 11.2.1.

This was a (hidden) full installer OTA - the real delta OTA was less than 3 GB.

Take a look at this post - plain micropatcher will not allow OTA upgrades. This has ever been that way with patchers and unsupported systems.

I ended up using the Barrys micro patcher that has my changes in it. I just installed 11.2 over the top of 11.2 and it worked fine. Here is the URL for that one that I used which has my edits for the 2011 iMac:

Seems to work fine for me. Not sure if there is something else I need to add.. I have WiFi, I have BT, I have sound working. Are there any files I need to manually add at all? Things seem to be fine without adding any extra files. I did run the command to whitelist my machine for Continuity, but that was all I did that was extra - wasn't even sure if I needed to do it - I just did it "just in case".

I am not sure whether that has made the Big Sur OTA available and installable.

But you can try to see whether it works.
It is your OpenCore with the iMacPro1,1 spoofing which gave and gives you the (full) OTA availability. Even with Catalina OpenCore all the time announced the availability of Big Sur (full updates) on your iMac 2010 with an AMD card. The CatalinaOTAswufix was not necessary to achieve this.

But you never got in the normal software update pane the now newly available Catalina OTA (delta) updates offered. To see them you have and had to use the CatalinaOTAswufix.

@buckrock yes you are right, but why does the 11.3 Beta1 ONLY appear in the public seed?
see my picture
Update: Sorry had seen too late that @hvds had already loaded a picture
