I remember seeing that as well! Maybe it was just an animation in the keynote or something that wasn’t an actual feature in the OS but I know what you’re talking about.
Update: Actually, the animation does exist! It only happens when your computer is locked or waking from sleep; the Memoji will then animate. However, when restarting or booting from a shutdown state, the icon is still blurry and does not animate.

Question: Are your Memoji user icons still blurry when starting from a shutdown state, or restarting? It was in Big Sur, and appears to still be in Monterey, unless this is an artifact left over from the upgrade. Annoying.

Mine seems fine. And while I know folks here made fun of the animation, it makes me smile.

I guess we all know why the menubar is black in full screen now and we have options to always display it

I would like to export my 1Password data to iCloud passwords. Will that be possible ?
On macOS 11.6 I am using Safari 15.1Beta: I can export from 1Password (as iCloud Keychain csv) and import into Safari. Does that also work with Safari 15 or older?

I haven't checked with Monterey, but I assume so as its Safari is very like 15.1beta.

Not sure if this is an intended change or a bug but the menu bar in full screen is now black. You also now have the option to show it permanently when in full screen.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this but this ‘bug’ you found was probably Apple testing different settings that could work best on the notch MacBook Pro: black background blends well with mini led and showing the menu bar in fullscreen makes a ton more sense if you have an otherwise blacked out screen area next to the notch above the full screen window.

Yes in hindsight this was a big clue that a notch was coming. It's still showing as black so it's very much an intended design even though I'm not a fan of it on a normal notch-less screen.

Thanks. I’m not sure about 15 and older. I only would like to switch from 1Password to iCloud Keychain if it’s easy to import.

It is easy to import passwords, but you may need to massage the csv before importing depending on what you have stored in 1Password. Anything else you may keep in 1Password would not get transferred.

Why don't you try a 1Password export? See if the csv file has everything you need. For me it would only be subset of the data I keep in 1Password.

I‘ve just tried and it worked. You only need Safari 15, no macOS 12. Very nice.

I did a quick search and haven't seen anyone else mention it, but the Books app now supports "Print Edition Page Numbers" in the View menu.

It's so nice when using a digital book purchase for my evening language classes! Now, instead of having to try to figure out where in the textbook everyone is, you can have books display the print edition pagination and use that to navigate. It solves a huge headache I've had in the past with the Books app, and I'm quite sure this hasn't been present before! (At least I had looked several times in the past and never come across it until Monterey...)

Small caveat -- it looks like the book needs to have print edition pagination supported by the publisher. My Japanese For Busy People textbooks have the option, but The Bread Baker's Apprentice has the option greyed out.

Oh my… what were they thinking with those dynamic backgrounds. I used to be a big fan, but why are these like cartoons and the light/dark ones real photos.

Craig you disapppoint me.

When AirDropping from my iPhone to Mac, it shows the Catalina desktop wallpaper yet: ?

Just noticed that some of the Pages-specific fonts have gone in Monterey - Publico Text (I think that's what it was called?) has vanished, rendering a huge document of mine back into Helvetica.

So... that's fun :p

Edit: As per other thread, it turned out that half of my fonts had to be downloaded via Fontbook. No idea why, but Publico Text is there.

Does anyone have a list of the new wallpapers? Or is it just that one purple ish one in light and dark mode? I miss when each OS would have a handful of amazing wallpapers

Interesting, found a (incredibly minor) bug with the wallpapers. After updating it changed the wallpaper to Monterey graphic though when i went into system prefs it said i was still using one of the Big Sur pics.

In 'About This Mac' when you view the 'Displays' tab, they appear to have retired the old Aqua wallpaper that used to show on the Mac's screen.

It's now a plain blue background. A shame because it used to be a nice little nod to older Mac OS X days!

I migrated from 1Password to iCloud yesterday. Couldn't have been easier. Just export your records from 1Password in iCloud Keychain format (.csv) and you'll be fine. Prior to the export I made sure to clean up all my 1Password data though.
