If from this output : ls -l /S*/L*/P*F*/A*GVA*/V*/A*/

you obtain the EduCovas binaries for them, then you can type this that should fix VDA and DRM :

rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.coremedia.plist

Ok, I got it working now after a couple of verbose boots. I'm on a 8,1 MacBook Pro A few things I am noticing:

- The fans are going nuts a lot (seems to test the limits of the resources available on this small machine)
- The trackpad scrolling seems off
- I can not adjust my screen brightness. Neither in System Preferences nor using the dedicated keybard buttons.
- Eventhough I installed OCLP to my internal drive's EFI, I can only boot it holding option during boot and then pick the EFI (or is this intended behaviour?) otherwise it takes me to the screen that say's this version of macOS is not supported on this model.
- Also the graphics are a bit off in dark mode (thin white line around the dock, dark color too dark etc) I guess that is down to the Intel HD3000 not being Metal compatilble or something?
Woops.. literally all these issues (except for the very last one) disappeared after installing the post install ‘system volume patch’.

I see in the bootpicker OC is not picking up my hardrive name after I renamed it. Does anyone know how to remedy that?

Monterey Beta 2, no problems Apple TV Mid 2012 13" Macbook Pro non-retina with HD Graphics 4000, everything plays fine.
Same here. Monterey works definitely better than BigSur on this machine. Temperatures are significantly lower than with BS. Installed with OCLP Handoff, Airdrop, Continuity working without any issues. I wouldn‘t have thought that this machine will go on longer than my cMP 5.1 finding its end of „upgrade life“ with BS 11.2.3

Fixed DRM Intel HD Graphics 4000 with a single command:

defaults write com.apple.coremedia hardwareVideoDecoder -string force
How to undo this command? I did it an dnow the computer just freezes qhenever any video is playing. Thanks

I already get rid of open core and i don't want to reinstall windows, i wasn't able to find a fix for the problem that's why i had to make and account here and ask

This was why I installed on an external drive for both of my systems. One is back to running High Sierra (loaned out to my son) and the other is my mobile system running Mojave. It was nice to kick the tires to something to look forward to.

I installed this Update last night, it was slow, but this morning I realised I had to do the OCLP post install on my Mac Mini for the HD4000 Graphic Drivers.
Man, this is soooo much better than beta 1, Safari was barely useable on beta 1, now it seems to be back to normal.

Still quite a few bugs though, like notifications not going away after going to the suggested action, for instance, says I need to update my Mail password but the notification sticks.

I also had Bluetooth issues, disconnected magic trackpad, sometime I got it working again by pressing the side button, sometimes a restart was needed, hell, even worse, even a wired mouse didn't work anymore, I bought a (very cheap) wireless 2.4 GHz mouse and that kept working, although sometimes I had to wake the mouse with a click.
@justperry How is 2012 Mac Mini with HD4000 on the current beta? Is everything working? Is graphics acceleration working? Is it just the regular "beta" stuff that's still glitchy/buggy/slow?

The only real annoying bug in this release is that most of the time, after a long sleep my Mac Mini won't awake, whatever I do, it's also not visible on the network, the sleep light awakes although not always.
Except for the above annoying bug it runs surprisingly good.

Thanks for the response.
So just to triple-confirm, no issues with anything related to graphic card / metal capabilities?

has anyone experienced issues with macOS 12 Monterey Beta on an unsupported A1278 Macbook Pro? I followed Mr. Macintosh's tutorial this time, cuz last time my computer was stuck in a boot loop for a month before after speaking with 3 Apple Senior Advisors, including a "Genius," none of them would tell me that I needed to reset the PRAM and NVRAM by holding Control + Alt + P + R + the Power Button until my laptop restarted 3 times.

No, not really.
Bluetooth issues have been mostly resolved in beta 2, although not perfect yet, but close.
I had major issues with my trackpad, disconnected frequently until at a time it does not reconnect, what's worse, it took away my wired mouse control away too, a 2.4 Ghz mouse worked though, but need to click once before it was recognised.

A 2012 Mac Mini and your MBP have almost the same hardware, if the Mini runs macOS 12 so can your MBP.

Your link only has the developer betas; not the public beta. I think that you have to get the public beta from the channel. I'm just going to wait until the final release.

no issues here, I have two of them A1278 Mid 2012 13” MBP non-retina running Monterey beta 2, just make sure you run post system patch needed for HD 4000 graphics acceleration . Good luck.
