You should watch the latest Mr. Macintosh video about this.
From what we know right now, when 13.4 comes out, it will have the updates from the RSR bundled within it.
We can assume right now that pre-haswell macs will be able to update to 13.4 like previous security / version updates
Long video, well done. Clearly says that 13.3.1a is a security update that is now part of all subsequent updates (i.e. 13.4). Never says 'we can assume that we can install 13.4' on pre-Haswell Macs.

I agree that short of anyone knowing, we can 'wait and see.'

I think your Mac has an AMD R9 GPU.
There are known issues in OCLP with this hardware. Video hardware decode/encode is not supported and make some apps crash:
- TV app
- Photos.app when you browse Live Photos or HEVC videos
- very slow startup for Chrome/Edge browsers
...

It's very annoying, and I don't know if we can hope for a solution.
I've been following, and I recall someone that may be part of the of the OCLP development team saying they were going to get a mac with an AMD GPU and were going to look into the issues. They mentioned getting it this month, so I've been seeing if there have been any reports back. It was in response to one of your posts several pages back.

Hallo,

On my iMac 14.2 with macOS 13.3.1 and OCLP 0.6.5 Apple Script is not running. No App can set access to control other apps.

Where can I enable the AppleScript function.

Thanx

Sorry I'm still not smart enough to figure this out, but I was hoping for a "yes" or "no" answer. Will we be able to install 13.4 on pre-Haswell Macs, or is 13.3.1 the last because pre-Haswell Macs are not currently compatible with the security update in the 13.3.1a RSR? Again, is it the act of applying RSRs that requires AVX2, or is it the security update in 13.3.1a that requires AVX2?
My answer started with "RSRs cannot be installed ..." and concluded with explaining a little bit of the reason - so that was meant to answer your question directly.
So, next try:
Is it the act of applying RSRs that requires AVX2?
Yes, but indirectly.
Is it the security update in 13.3.1a that requires AVX2?
No.

Yes, but indirectly.

No.
Thank you. Even a newbie like me can understand that answer.

For others following my learning experience, here's what I learned:

pre-Haswell Macs can't apply RSRs (Rapid Security Responses), but that doesn't mean they are "stuck" on 13.3.1. When the security update implemented in the RSR becomes available in the next incremental release, pre-Haswell Macs can apply the update. For example, pre-Haswell Macs will be unable to install RSR 13.3.1a, but they will be able to install 13.4 (and thus benefit from the security update that was included in 13.3.1a).

For whatever reason, the act of applying the RSR requires one or more AVX2.0 opCodes that are not supported by pre-Haswell CPUs. This may eventually be resolved using something similar to OpCodeEmulator, but for now, pre-Haswell Macs cannot apply RSRs and simply need to wait for the next incremental macOS release.

So does the release of OCLP 0.6.5 allow for the proper installation of the RSR on Haswell+ macs like my 2014 mini?

Just like to report back that the "Remove Background" feature does not work for my iMac13,2 (Ivy, GTX 680MX) either with revblock=media or none. But it works on my iMac12,2 (Sandy, K3100M) with revblock=none. Both have Kepler GPU.

P.S. I've tried with various OCLP & Ventura versions and this issue is persistent.

Yes, hopefully I'll be able to look into this in 3 to 4 weeks.

I did read it. And I installed it. But before I take a chance at installing the RSR I wanted an update for sure. Last night people were still advising against it at all costs even with the 0.6.5n.
RSR installed OK on my iMac 15,1 late 2014, had to redo the post install root patches. Running 0.6.5 when I did the RSR update, also used 0.6.6n after that (latest version 5-5-2023 9:45am) and it works fine.
If your computers have Haswell or later CPUs you should be OK.

MBP5,2: 13.4b4 (22F5059b) with OCLP 0.6.5 release running well.
Installed from USB installer over 13.4b3, on external SSD.

Note that this is not my production system, but mainly for basic Ventura testing for this MBP.
Sleep/wake working. Safari 16.5 (18615.2.9.11.3), Photos working.

Thanks for all the OCLP and non-metal development!

hello OCLP lovers,
I am facing an issue where I’m stuck in the boot process of macOS 13.3.1 @ OCLP 0.6.4 on my iMac14,2 (2 Partions with latest Monterey/Ventura): whenever I do a reboot or after booting into Monterey and then want to boot Ventura again the progress bar keeps stuck at 50% (shortly before the sys wd start UI and the login screen).

I can only use option-key during boot chime and manually select Ventura partition, then it boots correctly and starts the login Screen 📺.

Anyone has this issue too? Any ideas or resolutions?

Thank you,
Joachim
Also no resolution after 0.6.5: anyone has some idea?

By the way I am using Volumes, within one partition!

Thanks, Joachim

I routinely switch between Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura, all booting from the same OC 0.9.1 EFI. I have found that before booting a new macOS, it's best to reset NVRAM.

after my successful test on my TestOS I finally installed OCLP 0.6.5 and updated to Ventura 13.3.1(a) just to find out that Safari (and Orion) do again not play Youtube videos anymore. Firefox and Chrome behave normally. I had same issue sometimes before with 13.3.1. before I went back to 13.2.1. Only thing I don't understand is why Youtube worked on my identical testOS (other volume on same partition).

Update: I went into my TestOS to check if YT still works there. It did. When returning to the other volume with my regular OS, Youtube suddenly worked there as well now. Problem solved...

Ivy Bridge Kepler needs optimise

Imac 13.2

Auto patch in order to work following
13.2.1 and 13.3.1
1)remove background from picture function
2)ax2 instruction emulator for Rapid security
3)Working Pages ,power point, openoffice libre office hardware acceleration when working with images
4)Libre office tested
5)Photoshop tested
6)All open source video editors working on intel
7)Vmware and Fusion
and last AMFI ENABLED AND WORKING LIKE 13.2.1

even stay on this version its not problem

I think Oclp shoud focused on every pc from 2012 up to 2020 because mac mini and imac are working 100 percent

I think Apple should refund users who buy Intel Pc from 2018 up to 2020 since with their policy they discourage lifecicle of Intel Cpu support and decreasing every functions even Airpods do not have spatial audio and dolby surround,

this is true sad sad story

Totally agree. They should have named it a SSR: Slow Security Response.
No. Rabid Security Response. It was the cause of a two-hour phone call with Apple Care on a "supported" MBA, in addition to countless troublesome issues for people running OCLP. Let's give Apple credit when it's due, they make some great hardware, but their software and quality control is mediocre at best!

Would you be kind to tell us what was the problem that caused you to stay two hours with apple on the phone as I flawlessly installed RSR on mbp 11,1 with OCLP 0.6.4 and no prolems since then.
