My experience with my MBP6,2 can't predict your experience on your iMac, so take this for what it's worth... I am running Ventura 13.6.3 booting with an Open Core EFI generated with OCLP 1.3.0 and post-install patches applied with OCLP 0.6.8. My reasons for doing this are stated here. There are improvements to the Open Core EFI in OCLP versions after 0.6.8 that benefit Ventura. For my MBP6,2, there are no improvements in OCLP root patches in OCLP versions newer than 0.6.8. Since Ventura 13.6.3 is my "production" macOS, I am staying with OCLP 0.6.8 root patches until I see the need to upgrade root patches (and I haven't yet). I use OCLP 1.3.0 root patches for my Sonoma testing.

My Open Core EFI has the following properties:
  • Advanced > Feature Unlock: Partial
  • Security > Disable Library Validation: unchecked (Library Validation enabled)
  • Security > Disable AMFI: unchecked (AMFI enabled)
Thank You very much for reply.
I really appreciate Your suggestions.
I think (as You did) to mantain OCLP 0.6.8 since it works I don't find any reason to update it.
Cross finger and start the update to 13.6.3 :D
Warm regards
Ale

I’m curious to know which improvements? I am still running the latest Ventura on 0.6.8 on my 2015 5k iMac, and haven’t bothered updating OCLP because it’s been running so well as it is, so I’m wondering if I should update the EFI at the very least. Any insight would be appreciated!

If it ain't broke ... I'd leave your config untouched.

EDIT:
  • Updated Open Core version
  • Newer RestrictEvents.kext (with sbvmm)
  • Updated BluetoolFixup.kext
  • ...
See commits here.

My MBP with latest OCLP installed and operating latest Ventura. I have just updated Safari as per Apple update, unfortunately I cannot now boot. It does not appear to be shut down even after an hour closed yet Base is still quite warm. Any comments greatly appreciated.

Hold the power button down until it completely shuts off and gets cool. Then turn it on.

Good morning, anyone has experienced after rebooting or starting the iMac the message "your computer restarted because problem" ?
Everything seems to work correctly but the message is really annoying.
I already tried to reset nvram/pram, starting in safe mode, disconnected all ext peripheral, fixed disk permission but nothing solved the issue.
I could not try the diagnostic tool because I receive an error about missing driver.
Thx to everyone could suggest some idea.
We are talking about an iMac Late 2012 Ventura 13.6.3 OCLP 0.6.8.
Warm regards
Ale

P.s For someone who read my previous post this is not affered the update to Ventura 13.6.3; this issue appeared before the update.

I inspected the Logs in ~Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and I saw something relative Geforce Driver.
I report here if someone can help me to figure it out:

Hi guys,

I just installed Ventura on my MacBook Pro 10,1 from Monterey with OCLP 1.3.0. Only issue I found is that the "physical click" of the trackpad is not always responsive, it is like it needs 1 or 2 seconds to realise where the cursor is and react when I click the trackpad. Tap-to-click works as before. This issue did not happen in Monterey. Is it a known bug? I couldn't find anything searching in the forum.

Thanks for any reply and best regards!

Does it boot in safe mode? If so, could be a third-party extension that’s to blame. On two occasions I tried installing drivers for my external drives, one by DriveDX and the other by Lacie, and each time it led to kernel panics on boot. Had to go into safe mode and remove them to get it to boot normally again.

Something about OCLP’s configuration and third-party drivers don’t play nice together for some reason.

Whenever I reboot the system the graphics patch doesn’t load, ie sluggish performance, opaque dock etc. I’ve noticed this for a while now also on previous versions of Ventura and OCLP.
when I run the OCLP app and select Root Patches, it says they are installed. Try rebooting but the issue persists. Tried NVRAM resets to no effect. The only remedy is to run the patches again and after reboot everything is fine.
I’ve not seen anyone else report this behaviour so maybe I’m an outlier. Incidentally, I don’t see this issue on my Sonoma 14.2.1 volume on the same disk, only Ventura.

I had something like that when I installed Ventura. Playing around with the System Settings > Trackpad helped.

Hi adnbek, thanks so much for the reply. I must say that your intervention was really very valuable as by restarting in safe mode, the problem actually does not arise. Unfortunately, restarting the Mac normally causes the problem to appear again. Now I don't know how to proceed to identify what is bothering the Mac from starting up normally. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks again
Ale

in safe mode, download Etrecheck https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html and run it. It’ll tell you what 3rd party extensions are installed. I’m not sure which one would be at fault but you can safely remove them one by one or all of them as they are not needed to boot successfully.

You can then delete them using this command.

sudo rm -r /Library/Extensions/[kextname].kext

You can open this folder in the finder while you run the commands to verify they are being deleted properly. Also if you wanna be sure before deleting anything, post a screenshot here of the contents of that particular folder (library/extensions, NOT system/library/extensions) so we can have a look.

Good luck!

I solved as You suggested with Etrecheck, that has identified Samsung Magician kext undermined and a Tuxera helper file on startup that was not possible to dientify with usual shell.
After the cleanup the error was already there, and a new log appeared (something about Shutdown stall).
I cleaned the logs and after the next restart everything was returned normal !!!
Thank You so much!!

Last idea came to my mind is replace GPU to stock card, downgrade OCLP to Monterey and retry with wx7100
maybe thats way better and faster to resolve it?

I see exactly the same on the Mini7,1, 13.6.3, OCLP 1.3.0. Reinstalling the root patch fixes until the next reboot, tried a safe boot uninstall and re-install, NVRAM resets, you are not alone.

I dont have any chance to safe or recovery mode - its dark, when ventura loads up i can hear some system sounds then it works but without display.Everything i can do its reinstall everything with old stock card and try again

Hi all,
With the introduction of the USB 1.1 patch in OCLP, my MOTU Monitor 8 audio interface has stopped working. It's seen in System Information, but the "Discovery" app no longer sees the interface. It's also not seen as an audio device for the system. However, it does work correctly prior to the application of root patches with OCLP.
Perhaps it's due to the fact that it uses a .dext driver extension.

MP 5,1 RX580, Ventura 13.5, OCLP 0.6.8
Update: installing the older driver which uses a .kext instead of .dext solves the problem. Works in Sonoma.

I solve the problem with downgrade to monterey on stock gpu and after os install replace it,revert/install root patcher and it works, dual boot and gpu acceleration, ventura try later, keep testing. But on another imac A1312 with k3100m on ventura i have strange heat in upper left corner where is power supply and inverter,i must look closer to monitor activity and temperature control

Well, I tried a Ventura install on my MacBookPro11,4 again (along with an emergency boot partition for Mac O2 12 Monterey). It worked fine until tonight, where now it acts like the root patches aren't applied. The password, shut down, restart and sleep buttons are greyed out, and everything is overall sluggish. Now the last time I tried to uninstall and re-install root patches on a recent Ventura install on this MacBook Pro, it led to bricking that APFS volume with a loading bar on the bottom ala Sonoma that gets stuck a third of the way through. Am I the only one with this problem?! I've tried it on OCLP 1.1.0, 1.2.1 and 1.3.0, and I get the same results. I could try going back to 0.6.8, but that would mean the system would become problematic. What should I do now before I attempt any patches or re-installs?
