Did this help, OP? I'm stuck in the same situation. Well, not exactly. I can get to the open core boot selector, but when I try to boot into my Ventura drive it just hangs.

Question: both my iMac and Mini are non Metal. Does that explain the quite garish colors, especially the almost neon blue, which I've been experiencing in Ventura but Catalina (Patcher) as well?

My iMac gave me a notification reminder to upgrade to Sonoma. I thought I'd dismissed it but it started the download and then attempted to install it over my Ventura installation last night. I fortunately was able to power down my iMac at the start of the installation.

However every time I now restart Ventura I get a 'your mac has restarted because of a problem' dialog box when I login. Any ideas on how I can fix the problem without having to reinstall macOS?

I've tried installing OpenCore and the Root Patches again but that doesn't help.

Sincerely, it´s hard for me to believe that started updating without your consent. Sorry.

The Sonoma upgrade prompt came through on Notification Centre. I didn't thoroughly read it but thought I'd clicked the X to dismiss the notification but must of inadvertently started the download/upgrade process.

My Mac then prompted me that it wanted to automatically restart to install an update (thought I missed a patch or it was and rapid security update). During that restart I noticed the repositioned loading bar and realised it was starting the Sonoma upgrade. I then hard reset my iMac and it stopped the update but started to display the 'your mac has restarted because of a problem' dialog box at login now.

Upgraded my MBP Late 2012 to Ventura 13.6.3 using OCLP 1.3.0.

Everything works great except LibreOffice. It has redrawing problems, especially when I scroll, text does not redraw. When I click in the text, only portion of the screen redraws, resulting in garbled display. Here's an example:

Anyone has experienced the same?

Is that LibreOffice's fault or is that because of OCLP / display drivers?

Turn off all Automatic Updates in System Settlngs/General/Software Update/ to prevent this.

Seems easy for this to happen. Same thing happened to me very recently. Was fairly certain that I had hit the dismiss X (not even sure why I was prompted to DL Sonoma, since I stay far away from Upgrade Now) but instead it started downloading. Which very fortunately, I caught in time and stopped. Plus, I have Automatic updates set to Security Updates only. Seems that Apple is very trigger happy with Sonoma.

Those are my exact settings as well. Glad I'm not the only one who's had this happen!

This happened to a lot of people. It has been discussed here https://talk.tidbits.com/t/apple-just-force-upgraded-me-to-sonoma/26342/2

I followed "your" advice and setup with the Profile Editor I read over at tidbits. A few days ago I downgraded from Sonoma (which I had intentionally upgraded to) back to Ventura. Reading all the comments on hijacked auto upgrades here and there compelled me to add the no major updates profile.

Lots of very useful information at the tidbits forum. Just booted the Mini and was welcomed by an "Upgrade to Sonoma - how wonderful it is announcement". :( This time didn't try to dismiss it by hitting X, oh no no no, just ignored it and it disappeared of itself after a short wait.

It took me three or four unwanted updates from Monterey to Ventura on different machines, before I realized what Silent Knight does when choosing "Install all updates"... 🙈

MBP 13" mid 2012, intel graphics 4000. 16ram ddr3.
Sonoma 14.2.1
OCLP 1.3.0
250ssd samsung 850 pro (replaced for 250 samsung 860)
500hhd Toshiba with CD bus adapter.

I have the following inconvenience. Until last week everything was working correctly. But after the last update of Sonoma, it seems to me that something is not right with the root patch.

Yesterday the SSD didn't boot, the cross-circle logo appeared. I tried to reinstall but I didn't pick up the SSD (samsung 850 pro).

I removed it and restored it from another MBP.

Then I tried to reinstall the captain and then download the OCLP and I couldn't. So I tried another SSD (samsung 860). But after having done the whole process, the installation was not finished.

I have managed to install it, removing the HHD disk and placing the SSD on the bus where the CD was originally connected.

The installation was successful. After testing and reinstalling applications for a while, I put the SSD back on the main connector and the hhd on the CD adapter. And the computer kept working well!

Unfortunately, I got up today and when I started working, the PC started to respond badly. And the Finder was locked. It closed and opened alone, in LOOP.

I could only restart by pressing the off button and selecting the restart option. But when restarting, the circle returned with the crossed strip.

I put the SSD drive back in the CD adapter and booted from the USB pendrive with OCLP. The PC worked again and I reinstalled the patch on the SSD.

It works OK, for now.

My doubt is... it's an OCLP problem or it's possible that the disk bus is malfunctioning and I can only use it through the CD bus. Is this possible? The strange thing is that it started to fail since the last update of Sonoma.

Thank you!

PS: The original SSD disk is working perfect like an external drive.

Firefox crashes a lot on Ventura 13.6.3 running OCLP 1.3.0 on late 2013 iMac.

I've used it for ages as my default browser on my phone, and like the synchronicity, otherwise I'd shift back to Safari.

Does anyone else have similar FF issues and, any solutions?
